I feel like OnePlus killed me hype for new phones....

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 01:31 PM PST

...in a good way. I used to keep up with phones waiting for my dream phone to show up. I got the OP7P and I have no interest in any other phone. S20 is out and I literally feel nothing. Sure 120hz is cool and the cameras are better, but its still nothing to wow me into a new device. Also, I just can't get a notch or hole punch, I know to a lot it's not a big deal, but honestly, it's not worth an upgrade until there's a flat display, 120hz with no notch, beast battery and a great camera...oh and NO FUCKING BLOATWARE. All the phones are just unimpressive to me. I know they'll beat the OP7P in speed but it's still not enough for me, especially with the price range of new phones.

Stop apps form being killed in background? (7 pro)

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 11:13 AM PST

I am running the latest update (10.3.0) on 7 Pro and the phone seems to very aggressively killing apps in the background. For the specific apps I have battery optimization off and the "lock" turned on. Still, the OS kills them. Some examples - "Automate" (similar to tasker) is getting killed. My reddit client (joey) seems to be getting killed when it's in the background for a very short time. Pandora gets killed whenever music is not playing for just a short time.

Is there something else I can do to make sure these specific apps are kept running?

I switched back from my 7 pro to 5t for 3 days, here's how it went.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 01:17 PM PST

As the title says I had to switch back to my 5t because I applied an oleophobic coating on the 7 pro and i had to let it dry and do its thing to not ruin the process. (For 3 days) Anyways here are some of my thoughts.

The metal unibody design is awesome, it feels great and looks great.

I forget how wicked fast the face unlock is.

Even though the performance is noticebally slower than my 7 pro, it's not a slow phone by any means. It handled all my power user and demanding activities pretty good without lags and slowdowns. I was genuinely surprised by how this nearly 3 year old hardware could manage everything smoothly.

The software is still and forever will be fantastic (even though it's still on pie)

Going back to 60hz is painful. And I Never got used to it even after 3 days.

I would describe the display quality as decent, it's no where near the 7 pro though.

I ran into many Bluetooth issues with multiple devices. Pairing is slow and the range is significantly shorter compared to the 7 pro. (Maybe I have a faulty Bluetooth module)

The camera though, literally unusable in any situation but outdoors. It's a substantial difference in quality compared to my 7 pro (with gcam).

Oh and there's those little things like the left side alert slider which is much more difficult to operate, also the speakers are just bad and the design is dated and plain compared to the bezeless 7 pro. On the flip side though, the smaller form factor and lighter weight were a relief for my fingers, and the battery was simply amazing, not necessarily for it's size but rather for it's age. It lasted me all day, From 8 am to midnight. (I never replaced the battery on it)

Overall though. The experience was much better than I initially anticipated, this phone truly aged like a fine wine.

The new Samsung flaghips are out and they have a flat screen. Should OnePlus do the same?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 03:19 PM PST

So as you've probably seen everywhere by now, Samsung came out with 3 new S20s. The first thing that immediately jumped out was that the screens are almost perfectly flat. Do you think OnePlus will/should jump on this trend and make the next flasghips have a flat screen? Personally, I would absolutely love a flat screen on my 7pro, It's basically my only complaint and I know I'm not alone.

For everyone waiting for security updates

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 12:58 AM PST

    OnePlus posted on the forums:

"We encountered some delays due to the NCP outbreak."

    Google Ambient Screen rolling out!

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 05:12 AM PST

Read this on 9to5Google yesterday about the new feature rolling out to OnePlus phones soon (subtle but cool feature I considered on getting Pixel 4 before deciding on OnePlus 7T)

And was surprised to find out I got the update this morning!

Only 2 months with this phone and impressed with how fast they roll out new features and updates compared to rest of Android industry! Ambient

Edit: photo is attached and website link to article I referenced

Oneplus 8 screen still curved? Or similar to S20?etc

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 08:15 PM PST

I love my one plus device, I chose the 7t over pro McLaren version due to the fact that the screen was flat. I'm curious if the new up coming phones from oneplus will take the Samsung route and make the display flatter like their recently did with the s20. We all know that oneplus gets their displays from Samsung I wonder if they are just giving them the curved Leftovers 😞

Side note I really hope they work on the camera that's the only other flaw.

Can anyone recommend a stable gcam for Op 7 pro

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 04:13 PM PST

I have the t mobile version, and every apk I have tried keeps crashing, even ones that are supposed to be "stable", I'm not sure if that's normal or not

6T, TMO-USA user here -- still don't have A10 and Messages has become completely unusable

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 12:16 PM PST

As the title states, not sure what's going on. I have switched to Textra as a short term fix, but messages really is not working and I have no idea how to resolve.

The specific issues I am dealing with include the app randomly stopping and quitting, messages not downloading when they are MMS, and the app being generally slow and sluggish.

Otherwise, still waiting on the OTA rollout of A10 and have been hoping this would fix things.

Anyone have a solution for this?

Oneplus deep optimization vs samsung app sleep

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:41 PM PST

does anybody know if there's a meaningful difference between these two features? They both look like they prevent apps from running in the background. Is that correct?

Google Assistant Voice Activation not Working

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 11:25 AM PST

I'm using a OnePlus 7 pro, and this isn't really a new problem but the voice activation did work around the time I got the phone, and it has worked on Android 10. I don't know why it isn't working now - I'm using English (US) as primary language for phone, Gboard, voice typing. I have tried to retrain the voice model a couple times but it hasn't done anything. I can activate the assistant by swiping up from one of the corners, but I don't know why I can't activate it by voice. I'd like to know if anyone has any idea on what the problem could be.

Anyone experiencing random crashes/ reboots? (OP6)

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 06:49 PM PST

So this issue has been going on for nearly 6 months, but throughout the day my phone randomly reboots. This happens about 4/5 times on a bad day and about twice on a good day. Some days it never happens.

I've deleted third party apps but it still doesn't help. Also tried a factory reset which didn't do anything.

I can confidently say that this happens at least 90% of the time when I use Twitter or have it open. It usually starts with videos freezing/ images not loading and then it crashes soon afterwards. Not sure if it's a complete coincidence or what, but it's really annoying.

I've checked other threads on this sub too but they've not been any help honestly.

If anyone has dealt with this before, how have you fixed it, if at all.

OnePlus Photo Gallery App Folder exclusions

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 11:07 AM PST

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to exclude certain folders from appearing in the gallery app. I have a couple app that create temp images of things. Like Wyze and sometimes it's just really clutters my photo gallery.

Something is using my battery, but I can't see what it is.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 02:13 PM PST

Hello everyone, I looked inside the battery app today since this is the first full day I've had my new phone, and I'm currently sitting on 10%. However, of that 90% I've lost it only shows I've lost 49% through the apps I've used today. How can I tell what apps are using it when I can't see what is draining battery usage? Thanks!

Check this out if you are having issues with your phone after some OxygenOS update

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 03:39 AM PST

My oneplus 6 felt laggy for quite some time now and I was having wifi connectivity issues that no update seemed to resolve.

Yesterday I read a comment here on reddit that gave me this idea: I went to Oxygen Updater and enabled "Advanced mode" or whatever is called in english, my app is in spanish so I don't exactly know. This allows you to redownload your current OS version if you already have the latest one.

The next step is to change the Update Method to "full update" instead of incremental.

Now you can download the full update and install it like a normal incremental update, nothing is going to be wiped and there is no need to.

Do this only if you know what you are doing, and make as many backups as you need before anything.

How does the OnePlus 7T compare to the Pixel 4XL?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 01:55 PM PST

Both are similar price starting tomorrow ($579 for 7T, $$499 for 4XL). I have my 7T being delivered tomorrow, but if the Pixel is cheaper by $79 I am having a hard time seeing why I shouldn't go with the Pixel.

Anyone have both? If so, how do they compare in terms of battery, camera, and over all use?
