Any news about the global release of the Mi Watch?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:18 PM PST

Xiaomi is really silent on when the smartwatches are coming, I heard it will be at the Mobile World Congress this year, but I don't know. Any news?

Also if I get it is it possible to switch the Chinese rom to a global rom?

Want to go back to default lockscreen Mi 9t Pro

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 09:47 PM PST

Hello everyone, A friend of mine changed the animated lock screen background oof my phone to a photo of himself, as a small prank.

Annyway... The default lockscreen was an animated one, similar to the background of the home screen.

My version of the Xiaomi mi 9t pro is the pink one therefore the lock screen background had some pink lines that's showed up when I turn the screen on.

How do I go back to the default animated lock screen backgrounds, please?

I've tried for over an hour now.. can't find it.

    Is 100% charge really 100%?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 08:01 AM PST

So I got a new Xiaomi phone and have been reading all these articles about how it's better to charge your phone only to 80% to prolong battery life. The science behind that looks solid. The practicality of it is a little questionable though.
Anyway, I also read some comments about how 100% charge in some phones is not really 100% but lower to account for the mentioned battery longevity thing.
So, how do I know if my phone 100% charge is really 100% or lower? Because if its lower, I am already having lower capacity because of the phone, and if then I charge to 80%, my charge will be even lower than 80%.
    Any insight into this?

Roborock Vaccume cleaner map wont update to remove obstacles.

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 07:34 PM PST

I have run my roborock vaccume cleaner and it has generated a map of the house. However sometimes if a door was shut when it originally built the map, the vaccume can no longer path through the doorway that it thinks is closed. Is there a way to manually remove objects from the map to allow it to path easily again?

Even if I use the pin and go command to move the robot right up to the doorway it wont update the map to realise there is no longer a door in its way. I have had some success with putting a zone clean halfway through the doorway, then pausing once its moved through the threshold then using the pin and go command but thats less efficient.

    Thanks for your help!

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S - Android 10 update killed my handset speaker

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 03:41 PM PST

Today I got the Android 10 update pushed and since then my handset speaker stopped working. I do get system sounds to the top speaker and if I use the speaker phone mode, calls are fine but the fact that during normal handset use the speaker does no longer work is totally unacceptable. Anyone else has this issue? My Mi Mix 2S is the global version if it helps.

    Redmi Note 8 Pro?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:30 AM PST

I am trying to decide on a new phone as I need a dual sim phone due to moving to a new country (UK to France).

I am currently using an LG G4 and have been using for a number of years (great phone and served me well).

After some research I came across the Note 8 Pro. It looks like a very good phone for a very good price.

Would this be a good choice or are there possible alternatives at a similar price without the issues I have read? Primarily the Netflix HD/Android 10 issue (my phone is my only means of watching content) and the camera (I take a lot of photos but have read installing GCAM will help).

    Thanks in advance.

I customised Xiaomi MiiiW Keyboard to add 7 awesome shortcuts for Android phones

I customised Xiaomi MiiiW Keyboard to add 7 awesome shortcuts for Android phones

    (launch an app)

    Hi all

I'm well impressed with how quickly you can switch outputs on Xiaomi MiiiW Keyboard. It takes less than 2 seconds to go from typing on a PC to replying messages on your mobile. So I decided to create some power shortcuts.

You don't have to have Xiaomi MiiiW to make it work, as this will work with any Bluetooth keyboard! I made some 3D printed labels too - because, why not? I have the printer already!

    Features

    • Launch an app
    • Launch Tasker
    • Go Home
    • Lock Screen
    • Send Message (when Enter isn't set to send)
    • Start music with Play/Pause
    • Pull Down/Dismiss Notifications

    https://notenoughtech.com/tasker/7-awesome-bluetooth-keyboard-shortcuts-for-android/

You can customise the buttons and assign your own shortcuts as well. Let me know what kind shortcuts would you add to a keyboard like this and I will add the most interesting ones to my tutorial!

No sim, no wifi - Device is locked

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:06 PM PST

    Hi xiaomi community,

    Background context:
Over the past few days, the sim connectivity was cutting in and out. Phone would restart after a while when the sim went grey or a cross with no sim detected. My best guess was something was happening with the Sim connection service, and as soon as it failed, my phone would reboot, and the phone would no longer read the sim. Thought it was a sim issue, so re-ordered a sim from my provider. Same issue persisted even with new sim.

    Currently:
So I thought to do a fresh install. I have just fresh-installed 'xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8_V11.0.6.0.QEACNXM_v11-10' using TWRP on my phone Xiaomi Mi 8, following all the steps like format data and factory reset. However, I'm stuck on 'this device is locked' part. I have full access to my mi account and know my password. However, I cannot connect to the internet.

The sim isn't reading and it's not letting me connect to wifi. The WLAN slider is grey, and when I tap to turn WLAN on, it gets stuck at 'turning WLAN on', then fails and WLAN remains off. I accidently deleted the phone in 'my connected device' in mi cloud, is that the issue? My sim is also the same one I'm using that has the phone number associated with the account.

I'm stuck as how to proceed when I have the full mi account, but the phone is not reading the sim, or allowing me to access wifi. I have also tried installing the same ROM again, and other ROMS as well such as flashing the stable Chinese Mi 8 ROM and the stable Global Mi 8 ROM, all with the same issue; I get stuck on 'device is locked' with no sim and no wifi connectivity.

Help would be much appreciated. Richard.

    Xiaomi Notebook Pro iGPU glitches

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 04:42 PM PST

About three days ago, my gf's laptop, a Xiaomi Notebook Pro, started to act up. The integrated GPU, an Intel UHD Graphics 620, started to display artifacts all over the screen in a mottled pattern, and the display driver started to crash to black screen and recover repeatedly. It's got an Nvidia MX150 so for now I've just disabled the Intel iGPU so the dGPU can take over.

I'd like to fix it mainly because I can't adjust screen brightness when using the Nvidia as the main GPU.

I've been holding off deciding that it's a hardware issue, but here's what I've tried:

    • Updated all drivers to latest (using Snappy Driver Installer).
    • Reverted to and installed all of the basic drivers available on Xiaomi's site again.
    • Installed the oldest available driver on Intel's site for the UHD 620.
    • Installed the newest available.
    • Updated BIOS to version XMAKB5R0P0906 from XMAKB5R0P0502, which it came with. Used resources from this page.
    • Uninstalled all Windows updates I could leading up to the day when it broke.

    Other relevant information:

    • Used DDU (in safe mode) to clean Intel Graphics driver away before installing any untested version.
    • Noticed that the Intel GPU works just fine in Safe Mode, and when using the "Windows Basic Display Adapter" driver in normal (?) mode. Brightness settings don't work though. My guess is that Safe Mode uses the basic driver even though Device Manager shows that an Intel driver is installed.
    • Gf said there was never any sign of noticeable overheating from the chassis, nor did she drop/bump the laptop.
    • Warranty is long gone. Apparently it was bought on eBay.
    • I guess unsurprisingly, different Intel drivers gave different frequencies of crashing and behaviour of the mottled pattern, but all I tried had both problems in some form (except for the Windows Basic Display Driver ofc).

I read that you can clear the EC and CMOS by removing the battery for a bit, but I guess that means opening up the chassis. Anyone think this might help?

Besides opening it up, the only things left that I can think to do are reset Windows, or start looking for a repair shop.

I'm almost at my wit's end. If anyone can offer any help it'd be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Do I need to keep the SIM inserted during the Bootloader activation waiting time?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 12:11 PM PST

I really want to install a custom ROM on my Mi 9 Lite and for that I have to unlock the bootloader. I need mobile networks to unlock the bootloader but I don't have mobile data. So, is there a workaround or can I borrow a SIM card from a friend or does the SIM have to be inserted during the waiting time?

Need help - Amazfit Bip - Redmi Note8 Pro

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 03:45 PM PST

So, I was having problems with my Amazfit Bip sending notifications to an Honor 6x that I had. Recently, I bought a Redmi Note 8 Pro, which i thought would make things work way better. Well, it did for the first couple of months. But now, I can't get any notifications at all. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the mi fit app, I've verified all the permissions I can find, and still nothing. No texts, no phone calls. Has anyone had this issue, and have a solution?

    IMEI swap advice?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:56 AM PST

I bought a phone on eBay (first mistake!) which was sold as the global version. I had some issues getting things set up like googlepay which led me to the IMEI checker on Xiaomi's website. Turns out it was a Chinese phone. Sent it back for an exchange to a global one and they have sent me back the exact same handset with a new IMEI number which does show as the global version when I check it. I knew it was the same phone as it was the same box with the original IMEI and it had the exact same small flaw to the back which I wasn't worried about.

This feels dodgy as hell to me as I thought changing IMEIs was illegal in the U.K. and I have no way of knowing when that code has come from and if it's blacklisted. I've no idea what the process is to change it and re-skin the phone so whether it's secure for me to use or not.

Seller is adamant everything is above board. They say it has actually been done by the Mi warranty service centre.

Because it took them so long to get the phone back to me I'm now outside of the ebay buyer guarantee window. I just wanted to get a couple of opinions on this before I start going down other avenues like credit card charge backs!

    Thanks!

    Xiaomi m365 unknown issue

    Posted: 31 Jan 2020 03:36 PM PST

No idea why this happened. I rode my M365 normally today, no issues. When it died, I plugged it into charger, and this is what it does: https://imgur.com/gallery/tNJRSg4

Since then I've tried resetting the scooter, no luck. I've been charging it, no luck. I even unscrewed the bottom portion and unplugged the battery physically and still nothing. Any other tips? I just bought it from Craigslist working yesterday.
