    Question..

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:54 PM PST

So I want to buy a mi 9t in the US and use it on GSM at&t. I was wondering since most of the phones come with Android 9, will I be able to update my phone OTA to mi UI 11? (Android 10) even though I'm in the US and using AT&T?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:23 PM PST

Hey guys, I recently bought a mi 9t and I was wondering what the best case is for. I don't want anything too bulky and the NFC should still work. I have my eyes on the ringke fusion X.

    Xiaomi mi 8

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 07:07 PM PST

Hi guys, I am planning to buy a Mi 8 as there was a huge discount from our local online store ($200). i actually like the mi mix 2s more but for some unknown reason its more expensive than the mi 8 ($260). So i am going with the Mi 8, but I'm abit worried about the Amoled screen, cos I play a gacha game which is very grindy, like 3 to 6 hours a day and this might cause severe burn in to the screen.

to those mi 8 users have you experienced burn in on your screens? and how long before it appeared?

    Thanks!

Two week comparison review: Mi 9SE vs A3

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:48 AM PST

Ok, so a couple weeks back I dropped my Mi 9se and messed up the AMOLED. Gutted. That was the best current small Android phone I'd found. New screen was going to cost almost as much as a "used/new condition" phone on Amazon so I decided to go with an A3 instead. Here are some thoughts:

Size: I had the A2 and enjoyed the stock Android experience but it was just too big for me and the A2 lite was too subpar. The A3 is great, slightly bigger than the 9SE but I got used to it very fast. I don't notice it anymore. Now I why they didn't make an A3 lite, they just combined the two.

Shape: Similar but I prefered the flat back of the 9SE. Just felt a bit more premium.

Speed: I feel like it's just as snappy as the 700 series processor on the 9SE except maybe for opening the camera which sometimes seems to take a moment. But with stock Android it's very quick.

Software: Took me a bit used to get used to the stock Android after being on MIUI for a bit, but I prefer it. I wish there was that slide to take photo icon on the lock screen though, but I'm sure I can add that somehow. Still on Android 9 though which is kind of annoying.

Battery: I can totally tell the battery is better, but because I know it is I'm using it more so am still charging it every night, but it's definitely a better battery than the 9SE. If I am working and not on my phone so much I'll easily have 50-60% at the end of the day.

Camera: Photos seem similar to the 9SE. I haven't done a close comparison but as it's the same camera module there may just be some slight differences due to software. Have been pretty satisfied with the photos, I think it's more a difference in the screen that makes them look different.

    Headphone jack for the win!

Screen: I could totally notice the difference when I first got it. Just wasn't as sharp and if you do look close you can tell it's a 720p screen. But I don't have it right up to my face all the time. I definitely appreciate the 1080p on the 9SE but I don't even notice the 720p screen after two weeks with it.

Price: I got the 64gb version for 165 euros and then saw the 128gb model was 178 euros. No brainer, returned the 64gb version. INCREDIBLE price for this good of a phone. There's some good sales on the 9se now but I think this phone is a better value.

I hope Xiaomi continues to make 5.8-6.0 borderless phones with 3000-4000mA batteries. They really are the BEST size. Am excited to see what the next generations bring.

But yea, really a no brainer at 150-175 euros...

Mi Mix 3 is going to be 60% off its initial price in my country and I really wanted this phone over Mi 9T Pro, any advice?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 01:24 PM PST

Is it better than Mi 9T Pro in every aspect? The only reason I bought the Mi 9T Pro back then was because I can't afford Mi Mix 3 on its original price. Advices would be greatly appreciated!

    Redmi Note 8 Charging

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 05:55 PM PST

Hello, i bought a redmi note 8 about 2 weeks ago, the phone is great, very fast and i love it. The problem is today i noticed the charging was slower than usual, i come from a motorola g5 plus that said "slow charging, charging, fast charging, turbopower" depending on which speed it was charging at, and my phone never showed none of those things, it only said "charging". Anyways, i installed accubattery to see how fast it was charging and the app says its charging at 400~mA with the screen on, and 500~ with screen off. My questions are, is this normal? Why isnt it fast charging? I plugged it like 1 and a half hours ago and it only charged 20%, what are the mA numbers of a fast charging phone? 1000? 2000?

    Thank you

My Mum Doesn’t Think ‘Chinese Phones’ Are Safe

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 01:20 PM PST

So I'm planning on getting a k20 pro / mi 9T pro and its long overdue, I asked for my birthday for a new phone, as I still use my iPhone 6 from its launch, and she said that was fine. Fast forward a couple months and she said that my budget was around £300, after doing a bunch of my own research into budget phones, both new and pre-owned phones, I was leaning towards the k20 pro.

She said it was fine but I would have to wait a couple months after my birthday to get the phone. That was fine by me tbh I was just happy that I would be getting a new phone.

Anyways, now my mum is saying "don't get some cheap Chinese phone" saying that they're "untrustworthy and will steal all your info". I told her that Xiaomi was a very reputable brand and she was like, "a phone that sells in India and China can't be that reputable, these types of devices are used to spy on the public for the Chinese governments"

Is there any way I could convince her? Or is she too far down the conspiracy rabbit hold?

I want to buy the Xiaomi Mi airdots 2 pro but I have no idea if they're actually worth it. If someone has experience on wireless earbuds, I would really appreciate if he/she tipped me the right way on what I should buy. Thanks.

    Volume boosters don't work

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:46 PM PST

I have installed every volume booster from google play. The app is opening it's working but i have no result. To me it is like Xiaomi has banned third party sound boosters. On my note 4x the GOODEV booster worked like a charm but on my note 7 nothing seems to work.

Did the Mi 9T Pro ever get DC dimming?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 03:00 PM PST

I see a lot of posts about the Mi 9 getting the DC dimming update and the 9T still waiting for it, but haven't seen any updates in the last few months. Anyone know if it got the update? Thanks!

Updating my phone to MIUI 11 was a really stupid mistake.

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:02 AM PST

My phone is redmi note 5, also known as redmi 5 plus in some countries. So, I was really excited and impatient for the update. There's also a note 7 at my home and it got the update first and it was okayish at best. Once I updated my phone, everything went downhill. The apps opens really slowly, the animations aren't smooth and the worst is the time the keyboard sometimes take to register the keys pressed.

I watched a lot of YouTubers lauding it for the performance improvements but It's not in my case. I even reset my phone after taking quite a bit of time thinking whether or not to do it and nothing really changed after the reset.

I was thinking about using this phone till it stops functioning but now I might have to look for a better phone.

Edit: Please don't mind the typo in the title. I suck at proofreading.

    Xiaomi mi 9t pro

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 03:12 PM PST

I am contemplating getting a xiaomi mi 9t pro. I know it's an absolute beast of a phone, however I do not know if it's worth upgrading from a samsung s7 edge, as the phone is still working fine. Also should I wait a couple more months - year to see what they bring out this year, or do you think the difference in specs will not warrant the price difference.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro charging

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 01:17 PM PST

    Hey guys,

This is probably a stupid question, but this is my very first smartphone, so...I could use some help.

How do I switch between fast and slow charging? It says that it's on fast charging now, but I'd like to switch to slow charging because I've read online that it's better for battery life.
    Thanks!
