Looking For A Workhorse Productivity Laptop For Under $1600 (CAD) Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:19 PM PST Hello all! As the title suggests, I am currently in the market for a new laptop that's under $1600 CAD. I am going to be using it for both music production and video editing, so I would like a computer that could keep up with my tasks. The main requirements I need for this laptop are:
The rest of the specifications do not matter too much as long as I know the system is reliable and won't blow up after the first use. I was looking at the Asus ROG Strix III G Gaming Laptop and was wondering if it was a good choice or if there was something better I could go after? Thank you so much in advanced! [link] [comments] |
A gaming laptop for a photography enthusiast ? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 02:58 AM PST A gaming laptop for a photography enthusiast is the worst combination to put when it comes to buying a laptop ? I mean Overwatch is all what I play apart from some other old games, but all gaming laptops are huge and nerdy, can't take a gaming laptop and be cool in a coffee shop and set the mood to edit photos in a true tone excellent display that mimics real world colours. Although I will invest in a good 4,6 or 8k whatever monitor and calibrate it, I would prefer a laptop that can take on gaming on low settings any day and not give me low FPS(Overwatch) and also let me be cool and edit photos in a coffee shop from time to time and lets not forget handle other tasks like browsing quite easily. Least bothered about battery life, I mean who are we kidding battery life on a gaming laptop, b please ;) Jelp me decide and buy one. [link] [comments] |

Gigabyte AERO 15 Classic-WA i7 i7-9750H/16GB/512GB SSD/RTX 2060/15.6" -------- 1550€ MSI GS65 Stealth 8SE-038ES Intel Core i7-8750H/16GB/512GB SSD/RTX 2060/15.6" ------- 1499€ so msi gs65 has 8th gen processor, the other specs are the same There is also a gs65 versione with i7 i7-9750H/16GB/512GB SSD/ but 1660ti at lowest price ---- 1270€ [link] [comments] |
Clevo P775TM1-G or MSI GT76 Titan? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 02:17 AM PST Which one of these 2 laptops is better considering performance, longevity, thermals, build quality and reliability? Portability, battery life and price is not important. Both have identical specs like i9 9900k, RTX 2080, 4k display, 64gb ram, 1tb ssd and 1tb hdd. MSI comes with 2x 230w power adapters while Clevo make do with single 330w which might be an issue under maximum CPU/GPU stress. Clevo has all plastic chassis but haven't heard or read anything bad about it. MSI on the other hand is having some issues with material and build quality afaik maybe I'm wrong. Wanted to go with area 51m but too many RMAs. 2 of which I witnessed personally. Suggestions and advice will be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a thin laptop with a GTX 1650 Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:13 AM PST I'm looking to purchase a new laptop in the near future I need it to be thin and have a GTX 1650, im in Canada and im looking to spend probably a maximum of 1800 dollars but i'm open to spending a little more. I'm not going to be playing anything super graphically intensive I mainly want to play the Halo Master Chief Collection. I've been looking at this zenbook and the Dell Xps 7590 with the GTX 1650 as well so anything along those lines would be helpful. [link] [comments] |
Dell Vostro 14 3590 vs Asus Vivobook 14 X412? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 01:58 AM PST Its mainly used for media consumption (netflix, youtube, reddit etc.) so I guess the deciding factor is the screen? I have no idea how either look like and both are in different stores in different cities ._. [link] [comments] |
Looking a "gaming" laptop for under 1k (USD) Posted: 11 Dec 2019 12:13 AM PST Hello PC Gamers of Reddit. I am looking to purchase a gaming laptop for my daughter this year for Xmas and was wondering if you had any recommendations? Looking to spend up to 900. Not looking for any specific parts or such, just a laptop that will run stuff like fallout, fortnite and other games like that decently. Thank you 😊 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:06 PM PST I'm thinking of getting one of the two they have the same specs except that the G3 has a 512gb SSD while the G5 has a 128gb SSD and a 1tb HDD. Price is the same. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a Portable/Media only. Under $350 Posted: 10 Dec 2019 11:48 PM PST Hi friends, as the title suggest I'm mainly gonna be needing a light weight laptop that will just be used for watching videos/movies connected to a TV via HDMI at my gf place. So it will be on the go most of the time. Any suggestions would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Need help getting a good gaming laptop ($1,300 - $1,600 range) Posted: 10 Dec 2019 10:41 PM PST I'm not very informed on specs and all that jazz but I really want a gaming laptop. I travel too much to own a desktop and overall I have other needs that don't include just gaming. I need suggestions on laptops at around this price range. Preferable a TB of storage, anything that can run the newest games at great performance and quality, and whatever is great for a laptop in the long run. Please inform me on anything and everything because it is really appreciated. Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
[USA $700] College, Editing, and CAD Posted: 10 Dec 2019 12:45 PM PST Hi all! I'm looking for a new laptop for school. I would prefer 16GB of RAM. Hard drive space is not really important as I plan to upgrade to 1TB SSD regardless. I also do not care about the track pad because I will be using a mouse 90% of the time. Total budget and country of purchase: USA - 400-700 USD Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I would prefer a good battery life, I do not want 2 in 1 form factor. One major feature I am looking for a strong build. My current laptop's screen bezel is falling apart and so is the screen hinge. How important is weight and thinness to you? Not really important to me. If anything, it should not be thin and flimsy. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I use Windows. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. I would prefer at least 15in but I could go a little lower if needed. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Photo editing:
CAD:
Other Heavily Used Software:
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I do not really game on my laptop, if anything I will play something that is not resource hungry anyway. [link] [comments] |
I want a cheap laptop. Please give me suggestions? Posted: 10 Dec 2019 06:43 PM PST * **Total budget and country of purchase:** $300 to $450 * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** um.. it would be great if it was fast, like if it had a SSD. it'd be nice to be able to like draw on the screen with a stylus too but that might be out of the budget so its okay if it doesn't end up having a touch screen, although that'd be nifty to me. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Oh gosh I don't want a heavy weight laptop. The last phew I had were pretty darn heavy and huge. I want something that isn't heavy. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows. * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** not really, but the cheapest laptop at best buy today that was most affordable had such a tiny screen and it'd be nice if the screen wasn't extremely tiny. (I apologize about the vagueness.) * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Yes, I want to play Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 at some good settings with my Niece and Nephew with it running well. No modern day games, just some older games like those that don't require as much horsepower (but could still use some, I've been using old cheap laptops that don't run these Source games at a perfect framerate and I'd like a more powerful one.) * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, and Garry's Mod at pretty high settings, close to always 60FPS. Hi. I don't know much and I'm severely depressed recently along with some other issues, so I've been a bit slower than usual. It would be great if you folks could help me out. My dad's offering to buy me a laptop for Christmas. It has to be not much money, though. Like $300, or at most $400, if possible. I just want something that I can carry around to write stories and notes on. But, I also want to be able to play some old online computer games (old ones like left 4 dead 2 and portal 2 and a bunch of older MMORPGs) because I'd like to also play some online games with my family with it. My dad showed me two Chromebooks that were pretty darn cheap and rated high on Amazon, but then I think I heard somewhere that Chromebooks don't really run computer games. May you guys please help me out? I'm clueless and I'd like a nice cheap laptop this Christmas to write on and for a bit of gaming. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a budget casual gaming + everyday use laptop Posted: 10 Dec 2019 04:21 PM PST * **Total budget and country of purchase:** US $300 - $550 * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Prefer good battery life and anything i5 or i7 (maybe Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 if its worth it) * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Something thing, light and not too bulky looking preferred. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 15.6 - 17 inchs preferred * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Both everyday usage like school and online web browsing + casual gaming. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** League of Legends at any settings honestly. Low settings isnt the end of the world for me just consistent 60 FPS preferred. Hi I am looking to get a laptop that I can use for casual gaming like League of Legends along with every day usage as a student around the $500 price range. Really could be asking for a lot that I cant realistically get with that price point but was wondering if anyone had any insight. I recently bought a Laptop to try out and its the ASUS Vivobook 15 thats an i7, 12 GB ram and 256 GB SSG with Intel UHD Graphics 620 card. This laptop has been a favorite of mine but I am just not sure if its a good long term laptop for someone like me who uses it as a mix of everyday student life and casual gaming. Other laptops I was wondering I could get insight on include the HP 15-ef0875ms or the HP - 17z touch optional laptops which caught my eye. Thanks in advance for any help! [link] [comments] |
Multi use laptop, $700 USA. A few options scouted. Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:44 PM PST Total budget and country of purchase: USA, under $700
I've been looking at these 3 laptops but it's been so long since I've looked into laptops I know I'm out of my lane so if they all suck just let me know. EVOO from Walmart with specs that make me think I'm missing something? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:10 PM PST Hey gang, been playing games and doing work shenanigans on desktops my whole life, new work arrangement has me moving around enough that I need to shift to a laptop as my primary rig. Mostly interested in continuing to play games like dota and counterstrike at a solid FPS. No idea whats going on in the laptop market so I'm not even sure what that would cost.
Somewhere between 700-1100, USA
Capable of playing Dota2 with high framerate
Not super critical, but I will be traveling with it so ideally not huge.
Windows
Gaming, other than that pretty generic work stuff.

Posted: 10 Dec 2019 02:56 PM PST Is the Lenovo L340 seriously that garbage? The Lenovo L340 has a 9th gen cpu while the dell has a 8th gen cpu. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VC55LF5/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_slice_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 VS Is the dell G3 even good? Posted: 10 Dec 2019 04:48 PM PST Hi! I posted a long while back hunting for a new laptop mostly for notes with gaming. Thanks to the leaner months of Christmas, I'm scaling back the budget on it to be more reasonable, since I can just bring my desktop if I want to play games. Some of this text will be pretty familiar from my last post, but I'll have changed things slightly. If any of these things are unreasonable at the price point I'm asking, let me know! The main things I want from this laptop are a portable notes and code-typer, but I also want to use it for watching Youtube at good graphics. Some light gaming (little indie games and that's about it). Total Budget and Country of Purchase: $600 as an absolute maximum, though I'd prefer to spend as little as possible, as I am the traditional poor college student. USA. Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life, or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply: I'd actually prefer to not have a touchscreen. It's going to be primarily used for notes in class, coding, and a little bit of gaming, so good battery life would be awesome. How important is weight and thinness to you?: While I'd rather something thin and not super bulky, since I'll be lugging it around with me in a backpack or a case, it isn't my top priority. Which OS do you require?: Windows. Non-negotiably Windows. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A: No, but if a 144Hz screen is possible, that would be great, but I'll take what I can get. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run: I don't think I'll be doing CAD, but I'll be doing plenty of programming. Not fully sure what sort of programs I'd be running for that. As for gaming, I'll just use it for low-intensity stuff like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, maybe some emulators, at good frame rate with not terrible graphics. More videos and stuff, and I'll save the gaming for the desktop. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?: I'd prefer to lose graphics quality over losing 60FPS, so anything that can reliably run games at 60fps without potato quality graphics. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?: Nothing too fancy, but I'll be getting a ton of use out of the keyboard, so as reliable as possible, please! In addition, if it can be something that doesn't get too loud, that would be great, though most modern laptops are pretty ok with that. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion: I also DM for a few D&D campaigns, and thus a decent storage space would be great, but I can make do without it. Same goes for decent speakers: As long as there's USB ports, I can work around it. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask! [link] [comments] |
Looking for OLED Laptop with RTX2070 Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:13 PM PST So I want to change my laptop. Basically loking for an OLED panel + 2070 laptop. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? OLED, good build quality, good keyboard, not too big/heavy max 3 kg. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Total budget and country of purchase: 250k-300k JPY, Japan Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specification for money. How important is weight and thinness to you? Quite important since I move a lot Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows Do you have a preferred screen size? N/A. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, Clip studio paint, Unity3D, UE4 If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? possibly Cyberpunk 2077 when it come out, MHW Iceborne, GTFO. I have look at currently are: Aero15XA OLED and Japan's Nextgear-note i5751. The aero seem to have a better built, form factor, calibrated screen, and per key RGB. The nextgear seem to have a full rtx2070 not mq so it supposed to perform better, but a more mediocre keyboard, full keyboard RGB (not per key), more thicker, less batter, solid build but not as premium. I need advice which one will be better buy. Or maybe better recommendation. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Broke College student looking for a laptop for school Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:03 PM PST Total budget and country of purchase: $300 in USA Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I prefer a 2 in 1 form factor and good battery life that can last for school How important is weight and thinness to you? Very important for it to be compact since I walk a lot between class and love walking in general Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Prefer Windows but would settle for Chrome OS Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. N/A, only for general use If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Moderately good keyboard to type notes and essay but I think I can live with regular keyboard. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Thankyou very much! I find that its hard to look for a slim laptop with low budget, but since its only for taking notes at school, I cant really opt to invest in a higher price... [link] [comments] |
[USA ~$2000] 15-17 Laptop for video editing Posted: 10 Dec 2019 04:08 PM PST I have a desktop I built at home for heavy editing. I do it professionally. Looking for a mobile option since I'm traveling more and more and the Lenovo I had from a few years ago burned out last week during encoding. Just wondering what's good out there besides Mac these days. [link] [comments] |
Looking for laptop for dad: US, 1080p, 14-15.9", 8GB+ RAM, 256 GB SSD, under $700 Posted: 10 Dec 2019 07:02 PM PST
I'm basically just looking for a solid laptop with good build quality and a few upgrades that make a difference to even casual users (SSD, 1080p display, nice trackpad/keyboard). Also, preferably no optical drive, but that's not a deal breaker. [link] [comments] |
Best budget laptops for content creators? Posted: 10 Dec 2019 06:54 PM PST I'm in US. Aiming for under $600, if needed can move up a couple hundred, but really don't want to. I want to be a youtuber, using camera and/or animation. Not planning on using final cut or premier pro,but free video editors found online like shortcut. Maybe I'll move up to the fancy ones one day. I'm guessing by then I would have money for a better laptop but who knows. Preferably buying new not second hand. I would want good battery life, lightweight, and good speed (speed for normal operations even if not video editing stuff is rly important). Preferably 2in1, but maybe that's asking too much. I've read that it should be SSD, at least i5 or i7 (heard that i5 might be better than i7 depending on cores(?) idk what those are or how to evaluate), and have certain ports, like certain usb, thunderbolt(?), and sd/microsd? Did I get all that right? Have been relying on YouTube but it's so much to process and understand, and I'm trying to choose soon so I get on a deal during the holidays at the end of this month.
