Posted: 12 Dec 2019 11:30 AM PST Hi guys, so today while I was at work my gf called me to tell me my laptop got out of sleep mode to a bsod (I had let it run some game update on steam.) so I told her to shut it down. When I came back and tried to turn it on it booted on windows, tried to install update until 30% and then out of nowhere shutting down services and rebooting, it then reboot and does that endlessly. It does boot into safe mode, so I tried to remove everything in windows\softwaredistribution\download and then rebooted, it did the same thing as before and when I came back to safe mode, all the files I had removed were back. I'm a little clueless right now, any ideas folks? I'd like to avoid a reinstall if possible. [link] [comments]

How to trouble shoot stuttering? Posted: 12 Dec 2019 03:38 AM PST Finally made the reluctant leap from Windows 7 to 10. Built a while new rig for it, and I've had one annoying issue since I built it. When playing games, it stutters randomly, but I can't seem to figure out an exact reason for the stuttering, and it is very inconsistent. I've had the same issue with Autodesk Maya as well, where the software will randomly stutter, and it can stutter with as little as a 6 sided cube in the project. Most of the time, the RAM is hovering near or above 50% load. The CPU is usually around 30% load, and I've almost never seen it hit 50%. The graphics card's load can go as high as 90%, but it really depends on the load, and is normally consistent without random spikes. I've already disabled all the game related w10 stuff that supposedly causes this. Lowering game settings doesn't seem to effect the stuttering at all, as even the lowest possible have settings cause the intermittent stuttering. The one thing I've tried that seems to make a difference, is disabling all the startup processes I have, and activating things one by one until stuttering comes back. The problem, is that the stuttering comes back anyways. I had close to twenty startup programs when I first installed w10, and now I have less than 10. Every time I trouble shoot this way and think I've found the program causing stuttering, I permanently disabled it, but eventually the stuttering returns. Every single startup that I run now, and used to run ran fine in w7, and it has made my transition to w10 very infuriating. How could I go about troubleshooting this further? /unresolved Edit: specs I7-8700k EVGA GeForce rtx 2070 xc Gaming EVGA clc 240mm AIO Corsair vengeance LPX 16gb(2x8) DDR4 3000 EVGA supernova 650+ EVGA z370 FTW OS drive: wd blue SSD m.2 2280 We blue 2tb and 4tb 5400rpm hdd [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:55 PM PST I've really been trying to clear off the viruses, but I just can't find them. My browsers have been taken over by the "search baron" virus, and I can't find any files or programs related to it. I also have some Mac cleaner X shit I want to get off. I see them running in activity monitor, but searching through finder reveals nothing. I need some help here, I don't feel safe using the internet, I think there may be a keylogger somewhere. How do I get myself out of this mess? If I delete one virus, one just takes its place. [link] [comments]
