The YouTube app changed the playback control behavior Posted: 11 Dec 2019 11:48 AM PST ~~Until yesterday a tap anywhere would close the controls, but since today it was moved to a very small button. Why?~~ Fixed. Kinda. I have a Galaxy S10 so I use an app called Bxactions to remap the hardware button launching Samsungs assistant. But that apparently prompts YouTube to switch to that layout. Gmail notifications for a domain Posted: 11 Dec 2019 08:09 PM PST I have a job opportunity and want to receive notifications for all email messages from a specific domain and only that domain. How do I do that? [link] [comments] |
Uninstalling manufacturer apps Posted: 11 Dec 2019 04:09 PM PST Hey guys. So as the title says, I want to get rid of the manufacturer apps in my phone. I have an Alcatel phone so it's pretty much a pure Android but I still got a bunch of apps when I bought it. Some do nothing but take up space, others are outright obnoxious, like the file manager becoming a permanent notification in my bar every time the app updates. My phone isn't by any means new, but I don't want to risk doing it without asking for the help of some knowledgeable folks like you. Is there any problem in removing these apps? I mean, could the removal affect my phone in any way? If no, how would I go about it? Would I have to root it? Are there any apps that do the trick? Also, seeing as I am here already, I'd also like to ask for your opinions on launchers that would be worth buying. I've been saving some credits I got with Google rewards and have been thinking about spending them with an interesting launcher. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2019 07:32 PM PST My J3 is 3 years old, and it had been unused for 2 of them. It didn't have any issues u til I did the system update. After that, every now and then the keyboard will will crash. Recently, the battery has started draining really quickly, which is annoying. The most recent development is that the vibration feature will randomly stop working. It'll be fine one moment and then it's not. I'm going to replace the battery, that should help with the drain. What can I do about the vibration? Is it the motor going bad? I've searched and read all the forums and various settings of the phone and none of them get me anywhere. Are the battery and vibration issue related? [link] [comments] |
Keypad won't come up while in a call Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:59 PM PST Just started happening Tuesday. I can bring up the number pad in the phone app to dial, but once I'm in a call, pressing the keypad highlights the button like it's turned on but doesn't show. I've wiped the cache and data from the dialer app, wiped the system cache partition and rebooted many times. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Frustrating message when saving photos. Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:57 PM PST I own a Galaxy S7, my provider is Bell. Whenever I save a photo through the stock messages app I get a prompt "Save attachment, If you do not want to replace file, rename it." always having to rename a pic when saving. I find this annoying and can't fathom why it doesnt just add a number at the end or use a date# format of filename. Is there a way to fix this? [link] [comments] |
Can't figure out messenger notifications on new phone, please help! Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:50 PM PST Upgraded from OP2 to Razer Phone 2 with Android 9. I backed up all my contacts to my SIM card. On the new phone, every contact has been defaulted to having no notification whatsoever. The problem is, there is no option for changing them all globally, even after trying to follow instructions online. I can enable notifications for each contact individually, but that seems like a pain in the ass, and I don't want to have to do that every time I add a new person. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Assistant says "Sorry, I can't make calls yet" whenever I try to place a call. Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:49 PM PST I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure this out. Whenever I ask the assistant on my phone to make a call, it tells me "Sorry, I can't make calls yet" It repeats the answer twice on screen, once via audio. I've tried clearing Goggle app's cache, restarted, etc. Other phones in the house haven't lost this functionality and I can place calls on my Google Home mini just fine. I'm at a loss. It's also worth noting that this was working a few days ago the last time I tried it, nothing whatsoever has changed about my phone or its configuration in those few days either. Any ideas? Thanks! How do I block a number from texting me or calling me? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:43 PM PST S9+. Using Textra as my texting app. I can use the "blacklist" feature but the texts will still arrive, just hidden. I want a true blocking feature. I don't want the person to know I've blocked them also. 'View remote TV <brand name>' activity? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 10:07 AM PST So I checked my activity in my Google account and what showed up was what the title says, with pretty much any tech brand you can think of. Samsung, Lg, Panasonic, Sony, Vizio (Never even heard of) All at the same time stamp, today. I never did anything related to any TV today. Should I be worried? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:09 PM PST Hello, I just bought an S9 today. I disabled video stabilization. My S7 was faster. Why is it so slow and how to fix. It slow taking pics, lags by a few seconds [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2019 09:47 PM PST I really want to root my LG G5 (LGLS992) but I've never rooted a device before. I'm getting a ton of mixed comments about rooting G5s, some people say it's possible and others say impossible, one person suggests one method and another says not to do that because of viruses, etc. All I want is to know the easiest, most straightforward explanation of how I can root my phone. I really appreciate whatever advice I can get. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2019 09:36 PM PST I just got this phone after having a Google Pixel. Before that, I had an iPhone. I've never had to deal with using an SD card before and it's pretty confusing. I couldn't figure out how to move my apps onto it, but now I'm googling and it seems that I can't? This forum seems to say you can't. And I don't even know how concerned I should be about that? Like, I've had my phone for less than a week and I'm already at 78% of GB used (24.87 GB). 16 GB is the phone's system, 7.1 is other apps, and then I'm using less than 1 GB for everything else. If it's that full, it's probably going to slow my phone down, right? Am I concerned over nothing? Am I missing something? Is this workable for the next two years? Who actually has this phone and likes it? [link] [comments] |
I need help rooting the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge (Sprint model)? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 05:31 PM PST I don't have a PC at the moment, I won't have one for another week at least because I have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. So I can't use a PC to root it. I've tried using both kingoroot and iroot and neither app was able to successfully root it. I'm trying to root this thing so I can install a Linux based mobile OS on it because Samsung's touchwiz interface is garbage and the phone barely runs with its current OS. I've enabled OEM unlock and USB debugging in developer settings (although USB debugging isn't much help since it's not connected to a PC, just a Chromebook that doesn't have android or linux integration available on it). Is there anything else I need to do for it to actually allow the thing to root? I don't know what I'm doing wrong [link] [comments] |
Galaxy S10 - Quits accepting phone calls, messages ect... Posted: 11 Dec 2019 01:21 PM PST This is weird. My GF has the Galaxy S10 and straight talk service. Basically what happens is that when the phone sits for a while it will quit accepting messages and phone calls ect.. I will call her and it will ring until it goes to voice mail. She never receives the call. Same for messages. However, If she makes a call then all the notifications come in about missed calls and messages. This has to be some type of sleep issue or setting. Can anyone recommend what to check? [link] [comments] |
Pay with a smartwatch with NFC Posted: 11 Dec 2019 05:22 AM PST I want to buy a smartwatch like Alfawise B2. It has NFC and RFID and my question is: Can I store in it safely my card details and pay with it. I am scared that I will lose my card, that is why i ask you this. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Android One (Pie): how to define what level is considered "full charge' Posted: 11 Dec 2019 08:33 PM PST I have stock Android pie. I like to stop charging my once it goes over 80% since that is better for the battery and the phone has very good battery life anyway. Slight problem is the built in battery counter doesn't consider it a "full charge" unless I go over 90%, so it currently reports it's been like three days since my last full charge and my screen on time is some ridiculous number, which isn't super helpful. So is there a way to set the "full charge" point to 80%, or just to reset the reference point to now? I am rooted in case it matters. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Android Auto - any way to disable it from defaulting to maps? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 04:44 PM PST I live in a place where my 5 GB of data is $100. The updated android Auto defaults to showing the map at all times which is being updated with traffic info. It's a lot of data.... 10 mb as soon as it boots up. Then ongoing map streaming. Some app or service is deleting my contacts regularly on my personal (phone) Google account Posted: 11 Dec 2019 04:30 PM PST I can't figure out which. I've restored them repeatedly and checked my Account's "Third Party Apps With Access To Your Account": Chromecast So, none of those seem like rampant contacts-deleters, and none of them (except Chromecast) seem to even have access to Contacts. Is there any kind of audit log that would tell me where the contacts-deletion operation is coming from so I can stop it? [link] [comments] |
Can I turn down the Google Assistant "beep" volume on my S10? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 10:01 AM PST x-posted from r/galaxys10 after a few days... Is there a way to independently adjust the volume of the "beep in" of the google assistant on the S10? I'm using Airpod Pros with AssistantTrigger and they work fine, but the beep is ungodly loud and will give me hearing damage if I can't find a way to reduce the volume. I've tried turning down the volume while the assistant speaks, but that doesn't work, and it doesn't appear to be tied to media volume either. It's less of an issue on my Bose Wireless Sports, so I think it's an issue that's amplified (hehe) with the new Airpods. [link] [comments] |
Beyond frustrated with Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown!! Posted: 11 Dec 2019 09:31 AM PST I had no idea I couldn't reset my phone with a lock screen in place without getting stuck needing to sign in with a (several years old and have forgotten!!! google account) I tried the fix here you enter in through emergency call, call 911, tell them it as an accident, go into settings, make google.com a contact, go to it, then google vnrom bypass...but nope, java error cant even get on the page Tried the talkback solution, where you enter talkback settings, go to a youtube video tutorial for "ok google" features, clicking watch later, getting into google.com, and THEN once again trying to access the vnrom bypass site, this time I got on, I install the launcher, then the frp bypass apk, and it CRASHES! and will not run Bought an OTG drive, loaded on the FRP bypass.apk onto it, it is SUPPOSED to open the file browser automatically when an otg is plugged in but NOPE! nothing opens! cant run anything off the drive IM BEYOND PISSED ABOUT THIS. It's been days of trying to fix, hours of research and no single solution can I replicate in it's entirety something always differs from the tutorials when I actually try it. HOw DO I BYPASS FRP ON MY SAMSUNG GALAXY J7 CROwN!!!!!! I'm potentially missing job callbacks over this crap [link] [comments] |
Something keeps turning my volume to max Posted: 11 Dec 2019 04:13 PM PST Usually when I start playing audio (podcast, music, audiobook) via Bluetooth headphones, something increases volume to max which blows my head off every time. This happens with all Bluetooth headphones that I use, not just a particular pair. Is there a way to identify which app does this or what is causing it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Dec 2019 04:12 PM PST Hey Guys! Quick question, I am rocking a Samsung Galaxy s10 and I have noticed on my friends Galaxy s8 that Snapchat messages have the ability to appear on Top of other apps, similar to the inbuilt messaging app or the Facebook messenger chat heads, any way to enable this? I've looked in Snapchat settings, and the device settings for "allow apps to appear on top" and can't seem to find this option. Thank You! [link] [comments] |
