    Hello,

    So me and my boss purchased the EG-LP6-BK EVOO laptop that was on Black Friday. When we received them, we weren't comfortable with an OS install that came from China. So we did a fresh install of Win 10. Unfortunately I forgot that the OEM had installed some software/drivers that comes with the laptop and was a second thought prior to the fresh re-install.

    Would someone who also purchased the laptop would be able to provide such software apps/drivers?

    Monitor Support

    I recently bought a PXC243 monitor for my laptop (Dell XPS 2-in-1 9575). This laptop does not have an HDMI or DisplayPort port, so I have two different adapters: one that connects USB C to HDMI, and one that connected DisplayPort to HDMI.

    When I opened the monitor for the first time and tried connecting it to my laptop via HDMI, I got nothing. The laptop is recognizing the monitor (it's giving me monitor information in the Display settings of Windows 10). However, the monitor is just blank. At first thought, one might think that my HDMI adapter isn't working, however I used this HDMI adapter with my monitor at school, so I know it works. When trying to connect via DisplayPort (displayport cable goes out of monitor and into DP>HDMI adapter, and then DP>HDMI adapter goes into USB>HDMI adapter), the laptop does not recognize the monitor at all.

    Let's ignore the DisplayPort method for now, since I know it's a mess of wires and adapters. I plan on buying a USB-C > DP cable soon. However, the HDMI is failing to work. I was able to connect the monitor to a different computer using an HDMI-Thunderbolt adapter on a Microsoft Surfacebook 2. So, my final conclusion is that there is an issue with my laptop being incompatible with this monitor at the moment. Any ideas?

    TLDR: Bought a new monitor, tried connecting it to my laptop with an HDMI-USBC adapter that I know is functional, but I get no display. Monitor works with a different computer, so it has to be an issue with my laptop.

    Electronics Mag-15 or Razer Blade 15

    I have been looking into buying a thin and light gaming laptop with a budget of 2100 dollars.

    The major criteria I look for is:

    Battery Life

    Performance

    Build Quality

    Thermals

    The three laptops I have narrowed my selection down to is the Electronics Mag-15 with the 2070 and the Razer Blade 15 with the 2070. I appreciate the build quality of the Razer Blade but to my knowledge this is the only major area the Razer Blade is significantly better than the Mag 15.

    Also I have looked at the Aero 15 but didn't like the design.

    Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

    [EU] Please help me choose a laptop for work and light gaming

    Hi everyone, I just started my Chemistry PhD with my 5 years old HP-15r122nl and it's starting to struggle with my daily work, that usually requires several programs open at any given time.

    • Total budget and country of purchase: I live in Italy, so something available in EU is a must. My budget isn't well defined, I was hoping to spend at least 5-600€ (but I think it won't be so cheap) to get a solid laptop that would last for years.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. No 2-in-1 and no touchscreen, battery life isn't so important. Best spec is what I need.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not much, I can handle a thicker, heavier laptop.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows or Linux.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. A big screen, at least 15', FHD and IPS if possible.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'll need to run some computational chemistry software, some programming and softwares such as Pymol. I'll do some light gaming too but not something heavy (LoL, Civ, Total War games).

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I would like to get at least 60 FPS on LoL, the others aren't so important.

    • Other details: I would like a double storage solution, SSD and HDD. The size doesn't matter, I can easily substitute them for something bigger. I think I might need 16 GB of RAM. No preference for AMD or Intel CPUs, but I need the GPU to be NVIDIA for its CUDA support. If i need other things I'll add them here. Thank you for your help!

    Laptop trial and return policy loophole

    Since there are many options for a laptop and not everyone has the time to visit a best buy and actually have hands on the product, how common is for a customer to buy a laptop online and try it at home and if it is not what expected returned to the store and try a different model?

    Does stores start flagging customers who return a certain amount of laptops in a time frame?

    Black screen on MSI Apache Pro 17

    I have a MSI GE72 6Qf Apache Pro 17 and when I turn it on I'll get to the home screen and after 5 seconds the screen will go black. I know it's still on because the keyboard stays lit. Anybody know what to do.

    Hello! I'm looking for the best stand/recommendations for my Razerblade 15. I do have some criteria and requests. I have a very small desk so it needs to have some space underneath to fit things when not in use such as a 60% keeb and mouse (the keeb night need to be slightly under it at all times). It also needs to have enough platform space under the laptop to fit a cooling pad or have one built in. These following criteria aren't necessary but would be great:

    • RGB Lighting
    • Some sort of USB hub/connection system

    What are the Real downsides of a "budget" Gaming Computer like this one?

    I enjoy some PC gaming but the computer I use now (4 year old Inspiron 15 2 in 1) isn't able to run anything much more intense than Civ 5, so I was looking to buy an actual gaming computer. I'd like to be able to run some games for nostalgia's sake (Aoe2 definitive, master chief collection) and be able to run games like COD, BF, and AOE4 when it comes out. I'm not a graphics junkie so I don't really care if everything is running on max settings. I'd also like this to be my work computer, but really that doesn't require more than MS Word and a bunch of chrome tabs for me.

    Something like this ASUS Tuf honestly seems like it meets my needs but people keep saying it's a "budget laptop" or "entry level."

    Some specs for those who don't want to click the link: ASUS - 15.6" Gaming Laptop 8 GB Ram, 512 GB SSD, 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-9300H mobile processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics

    My question is, what is there to gain by paying twice this price for a "legit" gaming laptop? I don't really care about a bigger hard drive, I get the impression I can add another 8 GB of RAM to this later, and although I don't know a ton about processors and graphics cards it seems like what's on this will meet my needs for the next few years. What else should I be looking for here?

    Which screen should I buy?

    Hi, I am going to update my 738p laptop screen to 1080p. I found two B156HW01v4 screen suit my need. The first one with a dead pixel is 60 dollars, and the second one has a tiny spot, is 65 dollars. they all 94% NTSC, and they are all 50% off from regular price.

    Or another perfect screen (LP156WF1TLB2), but it is 64%NTSC, is 55 dollars.

    I am not very strict on screen, so considering the price, which one should I go for?

    Best Option for School?

    I already have a gaming laptop, I am looking for advice on what would be better for me for school because I am tired of carrying around the heavy gaming laptop. In class all I need a computer for is something that can take notes, preferably by keyboard and writing, which is why I was thinking IPad (w/ keyboard and pencil) or Microsoft Surface Pro. I am considering just an IPad, due to the fact that I have the other laptop already, so I don't necessarily need something that can do everything a laptop can do.

    I really just need something capable of taking notes in class (I am a Junior, preferably want something that could potentially last through graduate school)

    Laptop Material for a student

    I already posted earlier today about Win 10S. Since that post I managed to find a great looking laptop. Not too cheap or expensive its 2in1 and the specs are pretty good as well!

    The only thing thats really bugging me rn is that the chassis is all plastic its ABS/PK plastic also full metal laptops are expensive as hell for a student like me. My concern is : wouldnt the laptop be prone to break if I use it every single day? I would put it in n out of the bag multiple times a day.

    PSA: Use extra caution in Chuwi BIOS

    Be extra careful in the BIOS of Chuwi devices. I was trying to dualboot Ubuntu and enabled CSM. This basically bricked it, just booted to a blank screen with a cursor, couldn't get to the BIOS or the OS. My device is a Lapbook Pro but from my research this seems to affect quite a few of their devices. I know there are other settings that can cause this to happen, I'll edit this post tomorrow with a list of the ones I can confirm. If you know of a setting that borks the BIOS on any Chuwi device feel free to comment it and I'll add it to the list.

    If you found this post because it already happened and are trying to fix it, the solution for me was unplugging the battery. Its relatively easy to access, just remove the 13 screws from the bottom cover (no prying tools necessary) and remove the tape on the side of the battery. My device had red, white, and yellow wires but it appears some have blue wires instead of yellow. Unplug that connection and hit the power button a few times to be sure its fully drained. Some people said they left theirs for an hour, I only left mine unplugged for about 10 minutes and that fixed it for me.

I'm a bit stuck as I've never bought a gaming laptop before, so your help would be amazing. You would really help a girl out!

Preferably, I do not want ti to look like a "gamer" laptop. As discreet and simple as possible. RGB lights are ok, but not great. OK if they can be turned off. HOWEVER, NONE OF THIS SHOULD COME AT A SACRIFICE OF PERFORMANCE. Performance is priority. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows 10 (Home, professional...     Memory: HDD 1TB, SSD around 256. Just need my OS, a few programs and a game or two.

    CPU: i7-8750H. I figured this one would go well with my GPU, but do you think it's a bottle neck? Should I get something better due to the programs that I use on the daily?

    Monitor: 120 hz, 1080p, 15 inch (or above, preferably 15)

    Keyboard: No specific requests. Something that's reasonably comfortable to use, as I don't have a separate keyboard.
