Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:50 AM PST I bought a Triton 700 with gtx 1080 max q,i7 7700hq, 120hz screen w/ g sync, and 32gb of ddr4 ram for $999. I was wondering if this was a good deal or should I send it back and go for something like a 2019 Helios with a 1660ti? [link] [comments]

Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH has frequent BSODs Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:30 AM PST Hello. What can I do with my laptop which has a lot of crashes? It's encountered these errors: "memory_management", "faulty_hardware_corrupted_page", "pfn_list_corrupt", "irql_not_less_or_equal", and more that I haven't taken note of. I'm thinking of calling my manufacturer tomorrow since they aren't active at this time of day, which is why I'm asking any extra help I can get. This is in Belgium by the way. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:28 AM PST So 2 years ago I needed a new computer and bought a Lenovo 2-in-1. BIG MISTAKE. I hate this thing. It is insanely slow, it freezes ALL the time. Anytime I open anything it takes up to 10 minutes for it to actually let me do anything. My husband thought I was exaggerating until he used it one day and he was shocked about how bad it is. So now I'm on the hunt for an affordable but decent computer. I'm mainly using for internet searching, my business (Etsy), and watching videos. I know nothing about computers so I'm wanting advice on what I should get. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:12 AM PST Hey guy, I'm from India and I had purchased a MSI GS65 Stealth Thin 8RF on July 2018. After a year of using it for Machine Learning and playing a couple of games like Dota and CS Go and sometimes witcher 3, one day it just refused to turn on. I immediately took it to the nearest laptop repair centre and they told me that my cpu had died because of overheating. I was left dumbstruck because I hardly used my laptop for any cpu intensive tasks and it still got overheated. It was then I realised at the poor quality equipments MSI uses to assemble their laptops. The screen hinge and the keyboard chassis is also of poor quality. The situation aggravated when they couldn't find the exact motherboard required for replacement in the entire country. My laptop has been lying dead for the past 5 months on my table and everyday I wake up to it's once so lively body but now just a piece of useless shit which I can't get repaired. Furthermore, the msi helpline is the worst helpline that could exist. I'd really appreciate it if someone can suggest me how to get this thing repaired or if there's a possibility of getting the intel i7 8th gen cpu repaired. Thank you. [link] [comments]
Dilemna: Aero 15 Oled 2080 or MAg15/XmG fusion 2070 Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:34 AM PST Hi Guys, I m facing a dilemna. I need a laptop for my work (I m doing research), and for gaming. I don t play more than 10h a week, and only offline games. I leave in India, so my family will bring me a laptop from France, where they reside. This mean I cannot judge the built quality by myself. This is my story XMG Fusion I ordered XMG fusion 10 days back. It cost me 2250 euros for 1000GO and 32gb Ram, with a 2070. Quite a good deal. I really liked the video reviewing it since the built quality seems pretty high. Got quite a flash for this laptop. But I got a deadline: my family is coming in 4 days, and the laptop took quite a while to be confirmed by XMG. since I got no news, i cancel the order. Still I received it. Aero 15 2080 Oled Meanwhile, there was a huge discount on the aero 15 Oled, 1TB SSD and 32GO Ram. Quite a deal to since I paid 2500e only for the 2080 version. Plus, the website I bought the laptop can buy the laptop within a year at 80% of the price I paid. Can be good deal to keep a good machine every year. So, i would like to get your feedback concerning the choice i need to make: which one to send back ? I m currently working on a Surface book 2 15 inches, and I love both the screen and the built quality (the keybord, the brightness). But I want to change it since gaming on it is not amazing. I m not sure which quality to loose: the screen (i would choose the Fusion then) or the built quality (i would rather go for the aero). Seems like the 2080 is not that great, most of all with an 80whatts version. Any feedback of the built quality regarding the aero ? Is it that really different from the Mag 15/fusion ? Would love to have your views. I watched the review 10 times, but was never able to touch one of these babies. [link] [comments]
Looking for a laptop for school that can also play video games Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:18 AM PST So I'm going to be getting a new laptop for school over the holiday. I play some games on a desktop PC, but can't have it with me during the semester. Since I'm getting a new laptop I figure it would be nice to be able to get one that could play games too. I don't really require something that could play on high-end settings, just medium settings and a decent frame rate would be fine to play some games that aren't available on console. Can anyone tell me what kind of price range I would be looking at? And maybe suggest a few laptops? Anything that could help thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:06 AM PST The SSD for my laptop came in yesterday (didn't have a screw with it, so I took a T-6 screw from an old knife's lock, used a whetstone to grind it out, and screwed it in with a washer from said lock to keep it down). I turned it on to see what would happen and I was greeted by stopcode 21a. From what I've read, it would seem I only need to do a fresh install of Windows 10 to remove the error. Is there anything else that I'm missing, or am I good? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 08:47 AM PST Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Deciding mainly between Razer blade 15 and dell XPS 15. Will be using this for upwards of 5 years, keyboard should be good, trackpad, battery life etc. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Deciding between Razer blade 15 (2018) with gtx 1070 144hz screen i7 etc. and dell XPS (2019) with gtx 1650 60hz screen i7 etc. Have found great deals with Razer blade 15 being roughly $1500 and the dell XPS 15 being roughly $1400. I need to Total budget and country of purchase: budget is under $1600, but less would be appreciated. Don't need crazy high end gaming specs. Living in Malaysia but can purcahse from France or England. (I have relatives there) Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Clam shell, decent battery life. Need to know if Razer quality is good enough (heard bad things about it) and whether it is worth it. How important is weight and thinness to you? Pretty important, though from what I gather they are very close in weight and size. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14 - 15.6" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Mediocre gaming for the first few years I have it, then maybe some video editing as well. Games would be in the ballpark of red dead 2, fortnut(I said in the ball park, please chill) etc. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? On the Razer 144fps on medium to high settings, on the dell, 60 FPS on medium to high settings Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? All of the above except touch screen doesn't bother me, and fingerprint would be good but if not it's not a dealbreaker Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. TL;DR: Deciding mainly between the Razer Blade 15 with gtx 1070, i7, 144hz screen, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram etc or the Dell XPS 15 with gtx 1650, i7, 60hz screen, 512gb ssd, 8 gb of ram. Want to play games at decent FPS and settings. Reasons I can't decide are: Razer supposedly has worse battery life and worse reliability/build quality, and the Dell is supposed to thermal throttle (meaning I won't really be able to run games that well) and is weaker in other tasks. thanks in advance everyone :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Dec 2019 08:27 AM PST Hey everyone, I'm getting a laptop for Xmas but can't decide what to get. I love found great deals and they are both similar priced. I can either get the Razer Blade 15 (2018) with the gtx 1070, i7, 16gb of ram etc. Or the Dell XPS 15 (9570) with i7, gtx 1650, 8gb of ram etc. I will be using this for more than 5 years (possibly as long as 6-8) and will need to last till then. I need it for school and beyond, and will be doing some gaming (medium), schoolwork, watching videos/movies and maybe even some content creation. I also need good battery life. I have heard varying results from many different reviewers and people that have these laptops in battery life, so I am interested if they can cut it out for me. Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 08:01 AM PST I don't know if this is normal or it's just because i never bothered to check- is it normal for some kind of plastic-y smell to emanate from a laptop's vents when they're under load? [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Dec 2019 02:59 AM PST Hiya, I'm currently looking to get a new laptop for running Kali Linux and doing CTF Vboxes (if you're familiar) also will be used for general Uni work. Budget is max around £1200 at most. Cheers. [link] [comments]
Looking for a gaming controller Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:03 AM PST Since asking peripheral questions on /r/pcgaming is verboten, and laptop questions are verboten on /r/buildapc, you're my last hope. My dog chewed up my Xbox 360 controller that I used to play racing and shooting games on Steam, and I'm looking for a replacement! I've seen aftermarket controllers from $15 on up to $150, and used OEM controllers starting around $25 (at the local Gamestop). One thing I didn't like about the wired Xbox controller was that it felt big...I normally play PS3, so I like a controller that's just a touch smaller than those from XBox. I've owned controllers from MadCatz in the past and wasn't happy with how quickly they lost precision. I see the Steam controller was discontinued about 3 weeks ago. What can you all recommend as far as a reliable, inexpensive gamepad? [link] [comments]

Lenovo Yoga C740 vs. ASUS Vivobook S15... Any advice at all, please? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:16 AM PST I'm sorry, I know there are probably tons of these threads, but I'm really lost and can't decide. I got an HP Envy x360 recently, but it was heavier than I'd expected and I just generally wasn't thrilled with it so I returned it. I just do basic web browsing, Netflix and Hulu. Out of the ASUS Vivobook S15 and a Lenovo Yoga C740, which would you pick? Specifically these ones: I was also considering the Yoga 730, but I keep hearing really mixed reviews. Has anyone who's had any of these had any issues with them, or really loved them? I'd really appreciate any input at all. Thanks in advance! :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:11 AM PST I heard once in a video that there are two different rtx 2070 mobile models, one that's slower and the other faster, I was just wondering if thats the case with rtx 2060 laptops before buying a Dell G5. [link] [comments] |
