Suggestions: Tired of Dell XPS 15 9560

So about 2 years ago now I got this laptop with the 1080p screen, long story short I had to send it back 3 times all with different issues. They finally sent me a unit that worked and upgraded me to the 4k screen. It's been working for about 2 years and recently has developed coil whine and sometimes drains the batter until it's dead with the lid closed. I'm pretty much over this thing trying to fix all of its issues and am looking for another laptop. I don't want anything apple, not in that ecosystem at all and am not interested in getting into it now something for gaming would be cool since that would probably handle most, if not all of my needs. I also wouldn't be against getting a newer XPS 15 as long as there's people out there that have had good experiences with it, I may have just gotten a lemon I have no idea.

I am looking for a decent gaming laptop like an Acer Nitro or Alienware or something else that is second hand. The only problem is even though I know I can upgrade stuff I don't know whether what it comes with will be good for the games I'm going to play. So I'm here to ask what gaming laptop would come with the minimum specs required to play: Minecraft, Subnautica, New World, GTA V, No Mans Sky, etc. High graphic games. Thank you for reading.

Which laptop should I buy for some light(ish) gaming, programming, solidworks, and general use.

1) Acer Aspire 5 Slim (i5-10210U, 12GB RAM, mx250)

2) Thinkbook 14s (i7-8565u, 16gb ram, radeon 540x)

Which one has better build quality? Is the 540x comparable to the mx250?

Difference between MacBook Pro 13” and 16”?

For the holidays I got the MacBook Pro 13" fully loaded for its size, but I am wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to 16". I know the storage is better etc but does the screen make a huge difference for photoshop and video games? I also already have a 13" MacBook Pro too and it's cool, so I already feel like I want something different. Is it worth it? Is the size harder to travel with? Thanks 🙏

Helios 300 having issues after installing a new ssd

I got a new 1tb M.2 SATA ssd, and a 500gb M.2 SATA ssd for Christmas and I installed it into my Helios 300.

These drives replaced my measly 256GB SATA ssd. I installed the 500GB slot into the same slot my old 256GB stick was in. A fresh install of windows, and now the 500gb stick doesn't show up in bios or windows. I tried to shuffle the drives around, and now the 500 GB stick shows up, but the 1tb stick is not showing up.

I put the old 256gb stick back into the original slot and worked just fine however. Does anyone know the cause of this? All 3 sticks are M.2 SATA, so there shouldn't be an issue.

After this fresh install of windows, I cannot connect to any "game services". I tried booting up Modern Warfare. Cannot connect to online services. Tried to boot up NBA 2K20. Cannot connect to online services. On the blizzard store, I cannot see any store items, as I just get error notices. When I go to check for windows updates (I already updated everything) it gives me an error message, and tells me to connect to the internet, even though I'm already connected.

If anyone has any experiences or fixes, it would be appreciated

Help acer aspire 3 wont boot to win10

Hi guys i am trying to sort out my bros laptop Its an acer aspire 3 It keeps saying no bootable device For some reason it wont boot to win 10 The laptop was working fine then after an update it would not boot. Ive tried recovery but it hits a problem and can not continue. The hdd is showing up in bios. Other options ive tried is to do a restore from system restore from the recovery menu on the laptop with no joy I have no other recovery media for the laptop as i think its all on a separate partition on the hdd. When using commend prompt i can see c:/ and x:/ Both seem to have windows on it so am i correct in thinking x:/ is the recovery partition. If so why will the laptop not recover from this.

I have downloaded a win10 update tool and have it on usb to try and reload win10 but it loads a few files then the laptop just sits on the acer screen with the circle of spinning dots.. Ive opened diskpart in dos and then diskpart but the options do not show a disk 0 or 1

But in dos i can access c:/ and even x:/ to see its contents..

Is this a mbr problem? Or something to do with EUFI or am i seeing something wrong.

Any help please i need to sort this as my bro is house bound and needs it for shopping

I have roughly $400-$450 to spend on a laptop. MAYBE $500 if it really if worth it I need one to take online classes starting next month and I've really tried to do my own research and understand what everything means but I just don't lol I have a 4 year old who will most likely want to touch/play on it so thinking maybe a 2-in-1 but I don't want to compromise how it runs for my classes. something that can withstand a 4 year old, every day online classes, and online game/media use. any one have any recommendations?

Overheating Lenovo Y510p. HALP.

Let me start off by saying that I am very new to computers beyond general use so please be gentle. I recently was given a Lenovo Ideapad Y510p, I have the i7 with 16gb DDR4 and 2x Nvidia GeForce GT 755m GPU, 1 being an Ultrabay GPU. I am using SLI with physX undedicated. I've been running very high temps while playing L4D 2, 90° C CPU and 100°C on both GPU's. Im already going to change the thermal paste and maybe replace the heatsink if it seems to be in bad condition. I watched a youtube video on how to do this to the CPU and both GPU's which leads me to my main question. Since I use external monitor, mouse and keyboard would it hurt anything to leave the keyboard on the laptop off for more airflow and if I can not can anyone offer any insight? Ive spent hours combing forums for solutions but since the laptop is so old most of the solutions are out of date. Thank you if you read all this! laptop setup

So I just got my first laptop a few days ago. It's an HP envy (my first laptop I've owned) I was using it in my bed (watching Netflix and downloading simultaneously) and the screen went like a white/beige color all of a sudden. I closed it and then opened it and everything was fine except the desktop was flickering. I closed it and went to bed and when I woke up it seems fine. So, what happened? And will this cause any long term issues that I need to look into getting fixed?

Hi, I have recently bought a Latitude laptop (DELL Latitude e7470) in second hand. The laptop does not have a WWAN Card installed in it so that i could insert a sim and access internet. But I found additional antenas present inside the laptop for connecting then to WWAN card. My doubt is Can I buy a LTE supported card and install it or should I buy a 3g WWAN card. I am pretty new to these any help would be appreciated. And on a side not can i install any brand card/manufacturers card or is there any specific one i should look for.
