Just made the switch from iPhone to Android. What are the must have Apps?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 02:17 AM PST

I've been a iPhone user for 9 years. Various reasons have made me decide to swap to Android (iTunes being the biggest!!) Just wondering what apps are must haves. Downloaded Gboard and that's made the keyboard so much better!

Need call blocker app which doesn't show notifications and redirects callers to voicemail.

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 09:32 AM PST

I am kinda tired of trying each app one by one, does anyone have call blocking app which redirects callers to voicemail instead of telling them that 'person is already in call'?

Also some of those apps show notification/buzz whenever call is blocked, that's kinda annoying.

I don't know if any app does it but it would be nice if blocked call was automaticly deleted from call history in android defualt app.

    Any suggestions?

    • Open source

    • Very lightweight yet modern

Is there a way to make messaging apps only notify on the first message, like MSN messenger did?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 09:30 AM PST

I have a friend why tends to hit enter after each sentence, and the only way I can think of is to completely mute his messages. Of course the problem with that is I don't know when he's messaged me. I don't mind the first buzz or notification, but I don't want or need another 6 or 7 in the span of 10 seconds.

Bill management app which supports partial payment

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:01 PM PST

I'm searching for a bill manager which support multiple payment for the same bill (ex. putting 50$ each week on a 150$ monthly bill. So far I've tried random apps on the play store but always get a "marked bill as paid" which only support the total payment.

Is this legit to post your app - in other third party sites without your agreement? Is it good, bad or no matter at all for your application?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 11:45 AM PST

TOday found some sites - like https://www.androeed.ru/files/clash-of-clans.html?hl=en or https://apkplz.net/app/com.rovio.baba - that seems just parse Google Play market and copy all info + apk to their sites. And now everyone can download your app - just from this source, not directly from Google Play. And there are really a lot of sites like this. Who else tried to investigate this thing? And does it really matter at all?

[DEV] Solo developer trying to get user feedback on my game.

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 10:48 AM PST

Hi, I have been developing an android game for past 5 months. And recently launched it on google play store. In the game you play as cube and your objective is to jump, double jump and dash endlessly through the evocative and vivid worlds. I tried to make game as beautiful and refreshing as possible(by me). It would be a real help if you could play and rate the game. Thanks.

    Gmail App Delete All

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:58 AM PST

I've setup outlook as an exchange account in the Gmail app, but the amount of junk email I recieve is ridiculous. Is there a quick way to clear the junk folder? I go through it and take out the email I actually want, but then I'm left with hundreds of junk emails. I have to then manually clear them one by one just to maintain it.

I have a Gmail account and an outlook account if there is a better email app that I should be using. Thanks!

Security concerns with third party apps and permissions?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 10:36 AM PST

Recently, I downloaded my first third-party apk (ymusic). Of course, this app requires storage permission to save music. I am concerned that with storage permissions, this app could access my personal images. Is this a valid concern or am I being paranoid?

Looking for an app that lets me create custom recurring notifications with different sound effects.

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 09:36 PM PST

Gotta support different sound effects between each recurring notification (different notification profiles). The apps I've found only seem to support one notification profile.

For example, "record camera footage" plays a jingle whereas "begin dancing" plays dance music.

Anybody know of an app that does this?

For instance, Google Calendar can provide recurring notifications with different texts but I don't see a way to coordinate different sound effects. Same with Productive... and others I've tried.

Pop up dictionary that works in Android 10?

The one that lets you search meaning just by copying text. Lookup pro was my favourite but apparently it doesnt work in A10.

Anyone else having issues with Spotify/know a fix or an alternate app?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 07:45 AM PST

Let me know if this is the wrong sub to post this issue.

I have a Pixel 3 and use my phone for listening to music at work, in the car, at home, pretty much all the time. And over the past few weeks, songs have started buffering, slowing down and morphing in the middle of them and making a static noise. It's not a network issue, as all of these songs are downloaded offline. It happens really randomly, once every other song or so, the music pitch will get morphed, it'll slow down for a few seconds, play that awful static sound and then go back to normal after 15-30 seconds. I thought it was a Bluetooth issue, so I tried on my phone speaker and with wired earbuds - nope, still happening. I can listen to music on YouTube perfectly fine with out interruption so I feel it's definitely a Spotify issue.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix or a different music app? Music is one of the main things I use my phone for, and the issues are incredibly distracting. I've been using Spotify Premium for 4+ years and while I'm not completely against using another app, I don't really know what other options there are that compare. Amazon Music is just generally terrible and I've been just using YouTube music but I hate having all my eggs in googles basket, so to speak. I also really like the playlist setup on Spotify and the ease of navigating by playlist/album/artist.

    Thanks!

[REQUEST] black screen overlay with toggle via Android shortcut

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 02:07 AM PST

Greetings from England! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Thank you very very much indeed in advance if you can spare a few seconds.

Over the past few days, have tried every search term/syntax under the sun but to no avail.

Currently using Tasker but need to offload this from Taskers thread so looking to achieve the same in a dedicated app (ideally without creating my own.)

Most importantly, needs to have a toogle Android shortcut so as to allow toggle via single button press/click.

I would be truly grateful if anyone can suggest anything even if it requires any hacky techniques.

    Android 7/root/xposed

    Cheers!

    Is TIDAL good?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 05:52 AM PST

I just saw an ad of TIDAL. It's like Spotify or Deezer I guess but it is less known than the other two. It cost 3.5$ for 5 months for one account or even like a family plan for up to 5 accounts. I believe on rhe moto that says that if it is too good to be true it probably is. Is it spyware or something like that or they really wanna strike some competitors?
