So I wanna customize the navigation bar on my Samsung S9

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:29 PM PST

I've tried downloadning some apps, but it either just ''put'' another layer on top of the existing navigation bar, and ultimately I want it to be transparent with only the icons showing - but if I do that, I see the icons from the 'standard navigation bar' in the background of the new icons from the app

Someone got a soloution for this ?

Hope it all made sense, otherwise ask as many questions as you want

I just deleted a bunch of photos, does anyone know how to reverse this?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 04:21 PM PST

I just deleted a bunch of photos thinking they had been synced up to google photos already and I'm looking to see of I can recover them. When I opened my gallery app it said I was running out of space so I figured that I would just delete the photos via the file manager that popped up when selecting the option. Does anyone know of a way to reverse this?

Mobile data on American phone in Japan is not working after an update.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:42 PM PST

I brought my American, Verizon Galaxy S8 over to Japan a year and a half ago, signed a Docomo contract and put their SIM card inside, and everything has been working great. Until now.

I just updated Android (to version 9) and now my mobile data is not working. However, I still have a good amount of bars, and calls are going through. Additionally, where there used to be an "LTE" icon at the top, it's now changed to an "H" - apparently this is a different type of mobile data? I don't know why it's changed to that.

I've tried restarting, reinserting the SIM, turning the data off and on, all to no success. Could this update have made my American phone suddenly incompatible with the Docomo SIM? Has this happened to anyone else? I can get to the Docomo store sometime this week and hopefully sort it out there but if anyone has any knowledge of this I'd really like some peace of mind. The last thing I need right now is to have to buy a new phone. Thanks for any insights!

And I mean any way, including root or other stuffs, I just wanna know if it's possible

Has updates improved? 5G or 4G model?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:29 PM PST

Hello, I currently have an iPhone but am going to switch to the Samsung Note 10. I've had the Note 8 and I miss the stylus too much. One thing I enjoyed about the iPhone was the regular software updates that tweaked the performance of the phone (sometimes broke it but were able to fix it again). I remember that Android is notorious for being slow with receiving updates. Has the frequency of updates improved since then? Also, I'm not sure if I should get the 5G version as 5G isn't available in my area yet, but if I got the 5G version, would it still be able to use 4G LTE until 5G became available or would I need to specifically get the 4G LTE model?

Can't Seem to Enter Recovery Mode/ System Data Issues (S7)

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:26 PM PST

Right, I have an S7 and am trying to enter recovery mode in order to try and wipe the cache partition.

I'm trying to do this because the system memory is using up about 16-18 GB of the 32 GB memory. In addition, after the last update my phone began acting unreasonably slow without me installing anything extra. The VR stuff I had slowed to a crawl rivaling the micro-stutter of Kane and Lynch, the phone occasionally lags out and doesn't let me actually answer the phone if someone calls (it just slowly, slowly loads the 'answer/close call' screen), among other issues. I've repeatedly tried to fix this by opening up my phone's memory by deleting or clearing out the memory (it refuses to get higher than 2/4 GB of memory) and by deleting apps or miscellaneous files, even trying to use stuff like SD Maid.

At any rate, I tried to enter recovery mode. The first time I just held down the 'down volume' button. This only booted it into safe mode. I tried again, same result. I tried plugging it in, same result. I tried holding down both buttons, which resulted in the phone merely booting up normally. I tried holding down volume and power buttons with no result. I holding down ALL buttons, which only resulted in the phone resetting itself repeatedly.

Edit: Exact model number is Samsung-SM-G930A , android version is 8, samsung experience version is 9, unsure if anyone needs the various other stuff like kernel, knox, or security software versions.

Is it possible that my phone is slowing down because of water damage?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:12 PM PST

A couple days ago I dropped my phone in the toilet. It was almost completely submerged but I took it out and dried it off and nothing seemed to have happened to it. It feels like it might be performing slower than usual? Is that in my head or is that possible?

I just got the OnePlus 7T

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:58 PM PST

Just got the 7T and I came from the LG V30 (Had it for two years). I loved the V30. Only thing was the camera was kind of inconsistent depending on lighting but overall best phone I ever had. I had the Note 5, Note 3, Note 2 and iPhone 4.

I was debating if I should get the OnePlus or Note 10+ but overall what sold me what the damn price! Also the 90hz refresh rate is addicting lol. People say the camera isn't as good as the Note or iPhone but too me it's really close. Maybe the last updates tweaked the camera app but overall I'm happy with my purchase. I will miss watching content in 1440p lol. I will also miss the DAC headphone jack. What's you guys opinion this phone?

Samsung S9 Keyboard Autocomplete Suggestions are Grayed Out

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 10:38 AM PST

I'm using the default keyboard on my Samsung Galaxy S9 from Verizon and the suggestions bar for autocomplete is gray instead of white like it was before making it really hard to see. I didn't change a setting, at least on purpose, and I haven't found anything about it online. If someone knows what happening I would really appreciate the help. Screenshot

    Problem with phone screen display

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:25 AM PST

I'm using the Samsung Note FE (formerly known as Note 7) running on Android 9. The screen has a yellowish tint but tolerable. Lately, display turns really yellow and the colors which were pretty vivid before, become washed out. After a couple of hours, display goes back to being okay. Then becomes problematic again. This has become a cycle and it's driving me crazy! Can anyone please help me? Adaptive brightness and blue light filter are turned off.

Setting for taking scrolling screen shots and cropping?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:34 PM PST

Both old and new phones are Moto z2 force. I use Apex launcher.

Began using the new phone about 2 days ago. It's updated twice. My old phone, when I take a screen shot it gives me a list of little tools like scrolling, cropping, and edit/drawing.

My new phone just takes a screen shot.

On the old phone, I can also hold down the power button and screen shot is an option. It's not this way with the new phone.

Instagram Dark Mode worked for a while then stopped?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:25 PM PST

I have a Samsung J7 running Android 8.1.0. No fancy rooting or anything like that. About a month ago, Instagram suddenly switched to dark mode which I greatly appreciated. But yesterday, it switched back to the blinding light mode. I haven't done a system update or changed any settings. Anyone else experience a similar problem? Any possible solutions?

    Google Assistant forgot English?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:20 PM PST

    Hey all,

Here's... Something that's happened to me in the past 24 hours or so. Whenever I try to trigger Google Assistants voice prompt it shows me this prompt.

As you can imagine, there are a few issues with this. 1. Nothing changed to trigger this, aside from perhaps a Google app update? 2. There's no list of languages to choose from... So what am I supposed to do? 3. When I try to hit Confirm, it's not a functional button and doesn't so anything. The dismiss button just works as pressing back.

Has anyone had anything like this before? Anyone know what to do with this?

Charging LG V30 and using USB mic and Bluetooth audio device?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:37 AM PST

I'm looking to find a way to charge my LG V30 while also having bluetooth headphones or earbuds and using an external mic setup that uses USB. I have a Focusrite Scarlett interface that I want to use on my phone, but that uses USB A. I have two USB A to USB C adapters, but that restricts charging, and I have tried wireless. And when I give up on charging, I can't use the microphone as an input and a separate device as an output. Any suggestions? I will try to describe it better if needed.

Honor 10 has 2 Phone Entries on Calendar

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:42 PM PST

On my Honor 10 I'm seeing a second "Phone" on my calendar apps, and this has a "Birthday Calendar" on it with the birthday of a friend of mine from over 6 years ago.

I do not know why it's there and have never noticed it before, but don't know why it's there or how to get rid of it either.

I only own one phone which is what I'm using now, said contact would've only been a thing on my old iPhone 5S I owned a long time ago which isn't linked to any of my Google accounts, and this contact doesn't exist on any of my other online Google or Microsoft profiles.

It also does not show up on my Google Calendar on desktop, so it's certainly something local to my android device.

I don't just want to hide this calendar however, I want to find out what this "Phone" entry is, and delete it if it's irrelevant.

    Any advice?

I need to format a microsd card to install raspbian on it. The only way I have to interface with it is through my phone.

    Can this be done?

Do they make static held screen protectors anymore?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:41 PM PST

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but ill be buying a galaxy s10e soon to upgrade from my s5. Ive had a plastic screen protector on this phone from day 1, but its static held and I can peal it off, wash it, and stick it back on. No residue on the screen. Doesn't slide around, but easy enough to get a nail under and pop it up. Also, doenst break! It also isnt that thick.

I don't remember the brand though, its been a while. Everywhere I look is tempered glass and a few film ones.

Or should I just not bother with a protector? I'm very protective about my phones and the original glass shouldnt scratch much, right?
