    Black Friday $550 7 Pro vs $600 7T

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:52 AM PST

I've seen plenty of comparisons between the 7T and 7 Pro but I haven't been able to find anyone comparing them given the current prices of each.

I'm finally switching to OnePlus and my wife is asking me to choose which model I want for Christmas. I had thought the obvious choice was the 7T because of the upgraded CPU, macro lens, and fast charging, all for a lower price. However, since the 7 Pro is currently $550, I'm really torn. Here are my concerns and hopefully you guys are able to help:-Is the Pro's QHD+ noticeably better than the 7T's FHD+? Under what circumstances does it make a difference? Using VR, for example?-Do the curved edges of the 7 Pro bother you? Seen a lot of conflicting opinions on this.Actually, I guess those are it.

tl;dr The 7T seems obviously worth it to me when comparing its $600 price to the 7 Pro's $700 price. However, with the 7 Pro's current price of $550, is there a clear advantage to either phone?

Edit: You have all been incredibly helpful in helping me decide. I've gone with the 7 Pro for two reasons: the screen and the price. If both phones were full price, I think the 7T would have been obvious. If they were exactly the same price, I'd probably still be deciding. But, in the end, I feel like I'd be missing out on the screen, even if it means I can't shoot macro.

[PSA] You can tap, slide up on the edge and pull and you get the app menu instead of going back

Just found it out and wanted to share, you don't need to tap wait and then pull Probably some of you knew this but as a new user of OP7TP this wasn't explained

    New to OnePlus Fam!

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 08:44 PM PST

What's up OnePlus fam! I dig the 7t screen big time and so far I am not missing the 3.5 jack as much as I thought I would.

I am missing LED light notifications though.

I did come across a couple of issues that are potentially deal breakers for me:

    1. Notification edge lights do not come up no matter what I do. I played with settings, visited YouTube tutorials etc...etc... Can't get those notification lights to come up. This was presumably an alternative to the LED lights... But I am yet to see it function.

    2. Android Auto seems to hate this phone. Songs from Spotify specifically skip very frequently to the point where you can't really enjoy music. Bluetooth no problem. My previous phone did not have these problems.

Had anyone come across these 2 issues? If yes, how did you fix them ?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and sorry for the long post.

Just purchased my first OnePlus phone

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:39 AM PST

Hey guys! Just got my OnePlus 7 pro a few days ago and I am loving it. It is a huge improvement over my iPhone 6 with the bigger screen and faster everything. I managed to migrate my contacts with OnePlus switch and my photos through Google drive, but I cannot seem to migrate my messages. Anyone have any suggestions? I found a few resources for migrating data but I need to pay for a lot of them and some I am scared of downloading only to get a virus. Thanks!

On a side note, does anyone know how to improve the camera quality? Normal photos work well but it seems that the phone uses digital zoom over optical zoom, making my zoomed in shots pixelely. I tried Google camera but I did not see much of an improvement.

    Should I update my phone?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:17 PM PST

    Hi,

I just recently bought my Oneplus 6T and this is might be a stupid question from someone with a little knowledge of the phone software/programming.

I kept getting an update notification on my new 6t, but should I update my phone? I honestly not sure whether I should update it or not. I just don't want to mess up anything and cause some issues on my phone considering how difficult it is to roll back to the previous version once you updated your phone.

Because of my previous experience with Apple, my previous phone (iPhone 6s) kept getting slower and slower after each update and they also added multiple bloats apps. That's why I'm not sure whether I should update my phone or not.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage of using the un-updated factory-setting forever vs updating your phone regularly?

7T Pro or the McLaren Edition

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:43 PM PST

Do you really need the extra 4 gigs of RAM if you're not a McLaren fan? Or is 8 GB more than enough? Also, how's the 7T compared to the 7T Pro?

Surprising experience at OnePlus service centre

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 02:58 PM PST

On Wednesday, I had loads of free time. So, I decided to visit OnePlus service centre near my house. So, I just went to developer options and enabled show surface updates and told them there is a problem with my display. They inspected it for a while and then told me that it was a damage to the panel by excess pressure and the screen had to be replaced and asked me for ₹10,000 (about 140 US$). I said it's not a big problem and can live with it and left the centre.

OnePlus 6T cracked screen, back repair prices

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:48 AM PST

My phone arrived at the OnePlus repair facility in Poland today; thought I'd list the prices I was given for a cracked screen, glossy glass back and camera lens, in case anyone has similar problems and wants an idea of pricing.

    Screen black OP6T - 86.29 EUR + 19.85 tax = 106.14 EUR

    Back cover shiny black OP6T - 22.55 EUR + 5.19 tax = 27.74 EUR

    Camera lens OP6T - 1.78 EUR + 0.41 tax = 2.19 EUR

    Service cost - 18.50 EUR + 4.26 tax = 22.76 EUR.

This comes out to 129.12 EUR net amount and 158.82 EUR gross amont, or £109.93 net and £135.22 gross.

The repair hasn't finished yet, but so far I've been very impressed with the OP repair process - I requested repair 3 days ago, the courier came to pick it up 2 days ago, then came again yesterday because I wasn't home. It arrived at the facility this morning and I received a repair quote this afternoon.

I'd also say the price is fairly reasonable, given that Apple charges £282 for an iPhone XS screen repair (which doesn't include a back cover repair - the price listed on Apple's website for "other damage" is £546!!).

    7T IN/CN Variant on AT&T

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 08:10 AM PST

I have an option to purchase a OnePlus 7T (India/China variant) for cheaper than I can in the US. However, compared to the North America variant, it is missing LTE bands 25, 30, 46, 48, 66, and 71. I'd like to use it on AT&T and the IN/CN 7T variant does support these AT&T bands: 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 17, and 29. Out of the missing ones, bands 30 & 66 are utilized by AT&T.

Will I have any issues if I don't have bands 30 & 66? After some googling, it seems that bands 30 & 66 are used as supplementary bands for congestion (I'm based in a large US city fyi). Any other info that I've found about these bands is outdated before this year.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do you think there will be an issue with using the 7T without bands 30 & 66 on AT&T?

OP7TP vibration on multi tasking menu

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:48 PM PST

Quite a weird one, before when using the swipe up gesture to bring up window switching menu between apps it would give a small vibration when its ready to release, for some reason the vibration disappeared.

Haven't changed any vibration settings, setting the alert slider to vibrate ring etc doesn't do anything either. Running 10.0.4. Friend also has problem on OP7 Pro.

    Update with fonts/more customization options?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:40 PM PST

Is it at all possible that we'll get an update for the current Android 10 with either extra system fonts, or the ability to download and install fonts system-wide, and also more customization options? Like possibly more options for the Ambient display, maybe more gadgets, or a way to customize the lockscreen clock size and position?

    Just buy my first OnePlus!

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:00 PM PST

    I just brought a new OnePlus 7 Pro. 8 and 256gb version.

Always loved the OnePlus devices but can't afford them until now. Started working about a year ago and decided to buy something a bit higher rank than I should usually buy.

I watched lots and lots of reviews about this device and with each one I just became a bigger fan of the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Searched about 7t Pro also, but I finally decided to buy 7 Pro (I think 7t is the same mobile with a bit more battery and 855+, it does not deserve more attention than 7 Pro "my personal opinion")

I'm waiting on the bus station and wanting to arrive at home just to put my hands on it.

Tell me your personal experience with those devices. I thought I made a nice decision to became a OnePlus user.

What was the first thing you did when you first started your new device?

    Looking forward to read you.

Oneplus 7/7T CN Version (HD/GM1900) dual sim and LTE functionality in the UK/US?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:12 AM PST

I'm super tempted to grab a Oneplus 7 CN version to save some money, and it LOOKS like the LTE bands will work in the UK and US, but I want confirmation. I've also heard that the dual sim might not work outside of China? Does anyone know anything about this? Anything else I'm not aware of, any reason not go grab the CN version and save the money?

Let phone vibrate for calls on silent mode

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 02:47 PM PST

I'm running a oneplus 7t pro on Android 10, and I can't figure out a way to let my phone vibrate for calls when in silent mode. There's a setting called vibrate for calls which I've turned on but that only works when the phone is on vibrate or ring mode. Can anyone help me with this?

    Problem with Bumpercase finish chipping.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:47 AM PST

I bought the Oneplus 7T bumper case two weeks ago and the experience using it has been great until parts of the finish on my carbon bumpercase started chipping away reveiling a plastic layer under it.

Has anyone else experienced similar quality-issues with this case or am I just having bad luck by getting one of the bad ones?

Android auto keeps crashing and Bluetooth audio skips

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:06 AM PST

I've had my OnePlus 6 for a year and never been able to find a solution. Regarding Android auto, I've uninstalled/ installed the app and tried several different USB cables.

Bluetooth audio skips/stutters every 3-4 seconds in my Mazda almost every time I connect but rarely happens when I connect to anything else. Tried resetting all my network connections (WiFi and Bluetooth) to no avail.

Unsure if I should just keep trying different things, just deal with it, or upgrade to the 7 and hope it doesn't have those issues.

    Thanks

    Dash Chargers

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:23 PM PST

So, a quick question for you all. I just got my OnePlus 6T a few days ago, but an issue I've had is that it came with an EU charging block. I was looking online for a US one, and I was a bit confused. The only ones I could find were for older models and super shady, or just as shady and expensive. How can I tell which one to pick up, or would it be easier to get a converter? I have been looking on eBay and Amazon, as I do not want buy from OnePlus directly. It doesn't seem like they carry just the block or anything for a reasonable price. Thanks for any help
