Shortcut to a specific page or setting in control panel? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:47 AM PST There is a setting in ease of access center, a simple check-mark, which I would like to be able to easily switch back and forth to. The easier the better. I'm thinking the easiest would be to be able to get control panel to instantly open at the right page, which for me, is
But I'm not quite sure how to edit taskbar shortcuts to be able to do that. [link] [comments]
"Delivery Optimization" process: what has this thing been downloading on my PC? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:30 PM PST Hello, I'm a recent Windows 10 user (from yesterday actually) and I've been having a terrible ping so far, I just found out this "Delivery Optimization" process has been eating up all of my bandwidth... Here's what this thing is supposed to do: https://imgur.com/A0XoQME I don't remember having enabled it. It ate up 24GB of my very poor bandwidth in one day: https://imgur.com/hzyoL4v 14.8 Mbps is exactly my download speed, so it has been actively downloading with 100% of my bandwidth capability which made me lag as hell in all this time. I successfully turned it off and my connection is now back to normal, but now I'm curious as to what the hell has this process been downloading on my PC so far. I don't need 24GB of junk eating up space on my SSD. Can you help me locate the aforementioned files? Thank you. [link] [comments]
When adding a drive to a Windows 10 storage space (parity), is data in the space retained? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:27 PM PST From what I gather, only data on the drive being added will be lost. Is this correct? Bonus question: what's the best way to be alerted to a drive having failed in such a storage space? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 automatic shutdown? Due to Trial expired??? + additional question Posted: 28 Nov 2019 12:37 PM PST My windows 10 now automatically shuts down at the 60 minute mark regardless of what's going on. (the blue window pops up at the shutdown logo spools in a circle and then it shuts down) Is this due to my windows trial being expired? During the trial this never happened. Also, (randomn) do they ever run Black Friday deals on windows 10 software licenses? Looking to get windows 10 Pro [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:20 AM PST In Windows Defender, there's a section called "Manage Providers" where it shows which aspecs of your pc are protected with what provider. The Antivirus and Firewall sections are protected with Windows Defender, but the "Web Protection" section says "No Providers". Does this mean that there is no active protection for my web browsing other than what Firefox itself provides? Also, can I use something like BitDefender Internet Security to fill the Web Protection slot but still use Defender for the other two? Also, sorry for all the qotation marks lol [link] [comments]

How do I change system hotkey mappings? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:33 PM PST I got used to the 🔎button to call the "Everything" search app, but the latest updates have made it impossible. Or the 🏠 button, which is a pure UX evil. Pressing it on the Desktop opens the new browser (not even a tab in the current one!). But pressing it in the browser makes it change the currently opened site to the homepage URL. If you were writing something, it will be unrecoverably lost - and no questions will be asked before. There are also ✉️ - it does something like "mailto" call, and sometimes results are disappointing, to say the least. So, how to make use of the otherwise harmful keyboard buttons? (The keyboard is Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and there are also six custom, keyboard-specific buttons: ⭐ (fav app), and [1]-[5] (digits had been used to switch the taskbar apps in Windows 7 but the function has been ditched since it). But my question is more about the system mappings) [link] [comments]
HDD on Router not accesable from Win10 Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:08 AM PST I connected my HDD from Toshiba to my Router (CH7485E) and tried to connect from Win10 to it. Of course i have set up the samba support in the Router and it is working fine for my Raspberry Pi (LibreElec). I tried typing in the IP and the Path that my RPi uses which both failed. after a Problem detection from windows it told me: The connection was not accepted from the remote device. So how do i acces is from my Win10 PC? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Now that im actually using it i discovered that is wasn't activated. I have upgraded my laptop in the past to w10 and i have never had this problem before. What should i do?

How to use multimedia commands on a non-multimedia keyboard? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:00 AM PST I'm wondering if it's possible to use multimedia commands like volume up, volume down and mute with a keyboard that does not have such buttons. It's because I watch videos on a PC that does not use a multimedia keyboard and that would make volume control more convenient. [link] [comments]

Windows 7 Standart Theme: Disable mouse-over highlight on taskbar Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST Dear community, I am having a Windows 7 question, I am trying to solve for a while now. A Standart Windows 7 theme has an interface when you mouseover taskbar or folders in explorer - they will highlight. Is there anyway to keep this theme, but to remove this highlight. And make it just like in Windows "standart" theme - nothing happens when mouse over. [link] [comments]
A free good greeting card creator in old W7? Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:01 AM PST Does anyone know of a free good Windows program that can print out greeting cards for free at home like the old Print Shop and Print Master. I was using http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/photo-creations.html, but it is ending on a couple days. :( Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :) [link] [comments]
Brooklyn screensaver, but for Windows? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:54 PM PST I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I've been using the Brooklyn Screensaver for my Mac recently. Moving over to Windows instead of MacOS I was wondering if there was something similar to the Brooklyn Screensaver but Windows based. [link] [comments] |
