    PC disconnects from wifi

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 08:32 AM PST

My laptop with windows 10 1903 disconnects from the wifi about every 20 minutes. I think this happened only after the last update but I'm not sure about this. The laptop is the only device that has this problem so it can't be the router. The wifi connection comes back if I shut it down, wait 10 secounds and then turn it back on, if I just press restart it won't. I already tried fixing it in the device manager in network adapters and turn off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", but this didn't help. I have a HP Pavilion 15 cs0xxx and my network controller is a Realtek RTL8821CE.

Would appreciate any help because as you can guess this is very annoying.

[Help] Speeding up a reinstall of windows 10 on my e-waste tier ideapad

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 07:26 AM PST

I use an AMD model 130-15AST. it's rubbish, I swapped the 120GB SSD for 500GB HDD but if Im being honest SSD speed was about the same since it was quite a cheap ssd. 4GB DDR4, AMD APU. I reinstalled windows 10, but even with the gpu drivers installed and some bloat removed it just runs so so poorly.

I am probably going to just buy a macbook again if I can't get this thing running the way it should. How come enterprise core 2 duo dell's run so much better than my A9 APU laptop? What can I do?

PC unresponsive until ctrl alt del

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:28 PM PST

As the title suggests, my pc becomes unresponsive soon after startup where i can freely move the mouse but if i try to open, say, options, the gear icon is there but it won't open. İ am unable to open programs or bring up programs that are already open. The issue started when Windows said there may be disk problems and suggested i restart to fix. I chose restart later and ı restarted about 10 seconds after choosing this. When i opened the pc back up, i was unable to click anything. Most of the time, i can do that blue box selection thing on the desktop and if i were to open a program, i can move freely within it, sometimes the mouse freaks out and it registers an area other than the cursor as where the cursor is, but the interesting thing is the i am able to use the computer as it was for a very short while when i press ctrl alt del and close the window that comes up.

I have urgent business with my PC all the time so help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit 1: forgot to mention, windows settings won't open at all. It is always showing me the gear icon.

Edit 2: After a Couple more futile attempts at a fix which consisted of clean boot and a lot of restarts, i believe the cause is windows itself and not a program. I can right click on the desktop and such but still cant open settings. When i click for example language options, the pc becomes unresponsive. The disk usage isn't alway at 100 either. I can open flr example Firefox with no problems and when i disk check it yields no problems.

Edit 3: problem fixed! Thank you all for the responses! Here is the solution i used:

(it worked for me. I think its worth giving it a shot)

Solution: ~I tryed running sfc /scannow but it said "found some corrupt files but couldn't fix em" ~Using Powershell as administrator, I first ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth but encountered an error saying "The source files could not be found. ~So i ran Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup to fix the source files. ~Once this was done, i ran the command DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth again and it was successful. ~Once that was done, i ran sfc /scannow again and that fixed it. ~~Note that i did all this after pressing win + R - msconfig - Services - check 'Hide All Microsoft Services' - disable all - apply - startup - open task manager - disable all applications that start up with Windows - apply - Ok. I'm not a %100 sure it's the same doing all this without doing what i did but I'm guessing its fine but hey, better safe than sorry.

FYI: I believe running disk check is also good idea.

    Thanks everyone for your help!

Installing new Windows on secondhand computer.

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 07:50 PM PST

My sisters workplace recently let her dept all keep their surface pros after they upgraded everyones computers. A caveat being no support will be given for them, they can use/sell them or whatever want though. What they didn't do was wipe them, so I believe they still have MS business or whatever it is called installed on there. If I want to install Windows home on there for her is it as simple as purchasing a license and doing a clean reinstall? Will this let me transfer the install to a new license? I'm not sure if she can even login anymore. I would like to just install linux on there for her as it's all I've used for years so I don't really know the process here. But she uses lots of windows software and trying to deal with WINE + a new interface would mean me providing even more tech support.

Side note, I think it's a pretty huge security risk just letting them keep their devices. The company is huge and she's pretty high up the ladder. I would think the IT dept would've wanted to wipe them first.

    Some Programs are lagging

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 01:10 AM PST

    Hi,

I have a problem that in some programs the cursor is lagging really bad. Problems are in Spotify and in Photoshop. I reinstalled both programs with no improvement. I have Photoshop legally purchased btw. and a good PC:

Windows 10 Pro 64bit with latest Updates installed on a 850 EVO SSD

    i7-8700K @3,7 GHz

    40GB RAM

    GTX 1070

I have no lags in games (PUBG on high with 140fps), just in some programs.

PC stuck on Asus logo only after restart

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:13 PM PST

I added an ssd and put the os on it and since then I never needed to restart the pc (just shutdown), but after some updates it restarted to finish the update and it got stuck on the asus logo(no loading circle) the fan was idling and the writing indicator was off all the time. I waited 30-40min and eventually pressed on/off button(not holding it) and it instantly closed. After 5 min I started it again and it was all normal. Now, whenever I restart my pc it does this and i need to force shut it and open it again. I removed the other booting options(i have a backup of the os on the hard disk) and it still does the same thing. When I shut down the pc and then start it again it is all fine.

Upgraded PC parts now Windows says my copy isn't activated

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 08:26 AM PST

I just upgraded my mobo, cpu, and ram. Windows 10 is now telling me my copy of Windows isn't activated. The problem is, my original product key was for Windows 7 that I received through an MSDN subscription. I can't access my MSDN keys anymore and I don't have the product key saved anywhere.

Other than buying a new key, any ideas on how I can get this fixed?

Can I create multiple local user profiles in Windows 10 and have access to all the softwares installed?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 05:17 AM PST

I have office 365 subscription on Windows 10. My sister would be using the laptop and I was trying to create a profile that she can use but it is asking me email to set up. If I do, does that new account have access to all features of Office 365?

Last time I created such profile was in Windows XP. I am not sure how it works in Windows 10

Robocopy ignores all the files/folders I try to copy

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 11:45 AM PST

    Hi everyone !

So I'm trying to copy all the files/folders from an SD card to my PC, I found out I could use Robocopy so I typed in : robocopy "og folder path" "dest folder path" /e.

Unfortunately, robocopy ignored everything and I don't know why... Does anyone have an idea about this issue ?

Otherwise, if anyone knows a way to copy files from an sd to another easily, I'm also interested !

    Thx in advance !

    MS Store not installing anything.

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 03:28 PM PST

    Hey All.

I'm on a fresh Windows install since I've built a new computer.

On my previous install the MS Store and Xbox program (the beta) worked just fine and would install and uninstall things properly.

Now when I try to install something, it just says "Completed" if I do it from the store and the Xbox program brings it to "X just got installed, Check it out" but when I click that it opens the store page.

I'm not sure but it's probably related, when I try to choose the drive it says this drive isn't set up for installing games. It still won't do anything with C.

When I try to change the drive, it shows that it has apps from another device which would be my previous W10 install Gamepass stuff I'm assuming since I only formatted my C drive.

If I click yes on that prompt, it gives me an error.

I've reset the store using WSReset.exe but it didn't do anything.

Does anything have any clue on this crap? I rebuilt my computer to take advantage of gamepass a little better and now nothings working.

Opening powershell as Admin and doing "Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | ogv -p | Remove-AppxPackage" worked for the game installation part but I still can't choose what drive to install crap to.

Windows Store Apps Trouble Shooter does not Recognize that I am signed in

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 03:11 PM PST

I was trying to launch games that I have installed from the Microsoft/Xbox Store on Windows 10 Precision 5520 laptop and all of my Microsoft games gave an error when I launch them that I am not connected to the internet even though I am. So I thought maybe if I download the beta Xbox app and try to launch them from there it might work. So when I added the app to my download queue in the Microsoft App store, it hangs on "Acquiring Licenses" and then eventually goes to an error, the "more details" button shows that it is an error code: 0x80072ee2.

Through googling that I found some suggestions to try the "Windows Store Apps troubleshooter." When I try this is it will eventually stop on a screen asking me to sign in to a Microsoft account with a link to open the account settings. I click that and see that I am signed in. I tried signing out then back in. Nothing seems to work, help would be much appreciated, with my goal to be able to eventually launch my games again.

I've tried disabling Turn on Smart Card Plug and Play service, but it still asks me to use smart card. Does anyone have an idea how i can fix this?

My laptops Nvidia Graphics card is not being detected in Windows 8.1

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 09:42 AM PST

I had upgraded recently to 10 but it was too unstabel. For some reason computer would randomly lock itself and was in general prone to crashes.

So I reverted to 8.1 but now I can't detect Nvidia GPU. While I could in 10 and 8.1 before that.

I tried Nvidia Experience but to no avail. I even tried to manually install the driver but still it did not work.

It was literally working just few days ago so I am pretty sure my GPU is still undamaged.

What do I do? I was so excited after getting s chance to finally play Dishonoured 2 but it it will probably never work with integrated graphics from intel.

Programs randomly shut down (Windows 10)

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 05:50 AM PST

    Hello,

I'm having a problem where I open up Blender or Adobe Premiere Pro and after from about 1 to 2 minutes they just shut down (don't save any progress, does it without any warning). What might be the nuisance?
When I'm working, for example, on Adobe Animate CC or Word - no such mishaps occur.
    (I'm using Windows 10)

    Any help is appreciated :)

P.S. If the program is just sitting undisturbed in the background - it doesn't turn off. It's just when I start working with it that it begins to betray me :(

Windowed application not showing everything it contains

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 06:52 AM PST

Hello everyone, I'm in great need of help, I'm an indie game developer and I've used Godot for quite a time now, the problem is with my newest laptop, when I use the application in windowed mode (the one I use the most) it doesn't show all the contents inside, and due to it not fitting in the window the mouse doesn't respond correctly, for example, if I want to click a button I need to click a little lower.

This is what it looks like, you can see at the top that the settings aren't showing and even the quality takes a punch:

This is what it's supposed to look like (I'm running it in fullscreen):

    Win 2012r2 Embedded ISO download?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 01:41 AM PST

Oops, guess I can't just use the "Evaluation Copy" and then paste in the Embedded key I have.

So, where the heck do I get an ISO of this from? I don't have official support, I scrapped a server and then took the bits I could use home, but I've got to wipe and destroy any drives.

That leaves me with one key, no ISO. Tried the Eval copy with the key, and nope.

So, is there a way to grab this ISO out there?
