Xbox party chat on Windows 10 issues Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:42 PM PDT Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I've been running into a problem lately and I'm hoping someone can help. My friend and I play a lot of Sea of Thieves, me on Xbox One X and him on PC. We use Xbox party chat to communicate. When we play, I get my own voice echoed back to me. But it's not just that, I hear the audio from the YouTube videos he plays for background noise and the music from the game itself. He assures me that he's wearing earbuds and using a stand alone mic, so there's no way that the sound could be reaching that clearly all the way to the mic. The only thing I can think of is that for some reason, the party chat is sending the audio intended for him to hear directly back to me. Has anyone ever had this before or know how to solve it? I tried googling, but all I got was "turn the volume down to eliminate echoing" which doesn't help in my case. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:24 PM PDT So for some reason Windows won't shutdown even if I click the shutdown button. BIOS is already updated to the latest (asus x570-p + ryzen 3600x) , power settings are set to high (hybrid sleep / usb power manaagement is disabled); reseated RAM and power connections. Windows has this same issue even if its just logged in with no apps running. I've tried manually closing off every non-Microsoft service/app, but that does nothing. trying 'shutdown /s /f' also has no response. Also, sometimes when I plug in an audio interface (RME babyface), it gives the BSOD error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (usbxhci.sys) Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Does installing Windows 10 from the ISO file give you the option to select a disc to install to? Posted: 26 Oct 2019 09:52 AM PDT Hi, I just installed a new M.2 NVMe SSD on my PC and I'm trying to install Windows on it. I'm not using a USB or CD to install, I just downloaded the ISO file from the media creation tool. Right now it's ready to install but I'm not sure if I want to continue because It doesnt appear that its going to give me an option to select a particular disc to install the OS on. See here Before I click "Install" I want to make sure that it WILL give me the option to choose a different drive, rather than it just automatically installing on the my C drive. Using it for design school, so a lot of drawing, cad, photoshop etc. I do have a windows desktop, but I don't use it as often as I do Apple products. What should I expect? What is the significance of "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/CLASSES"? Posted: 26 Oct 2019 05:02 PM PDT Hello there, few days ago I did a messy update to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, approximately over %95 of the files were recovered however regs became a trouble by themselves, I got my old data and cautiously picked the ones to transfer to the new one. I completed the ones in "HKEY_USERS" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" but when I got to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" I realized I have quite the problem. My old .reg file had thousands more registries in its CLASSES folder than the newer one (the new one has 186032 values and the old one had 243514 to be exact). The program I'm using works a bit strictly, it either changes the whole folder (not the CLASSES folder but the folder under it such as [link] [comments]

Need help with Asus AI Suite fan tuning and overclocking Posted: 26 Oct 2019 06:15 AM PDT I have a custom built Win 10 gaming PC with a Ryzen 1800X cpu and Vega 64 LC gpu and 16gb Gskill Trident Z DDR43600 RAM. I installed the latest BIOS and AI Suite 3 software from the support page for my motherboard which is an Asus Crosshair VI Extreme. I'm confused with the fan tuning software because it recognized my CPU fan and rear chassis fan. But it's calling my two front fans as Rad (radiator) Fan 1. And when I click the button to tune it, it runs them both together as one. It doesn't give me the option to set the location. It just has a picture of a three fan radiator. Previously in the past on my old computers the fan tuning software would recognize my two front fans as chassis fans and separately. Another odd thing is that it's saying I have a "W_Pump+" whatever that means. Could that be the built in AIO radiator fan on my Vega 64 LC GPU? It won't allow me to set the location of that one. What does the 5-Way Optimization button do? I would like to try the easy auto overclocking. I was told that Asus motherboards have very easy to use and effective automatic overclocking. I read that the automatic overclocking software of other motherboard manufacturers doesn't work well. Also, is there a good easy auto overclocking tool for the Ryzen 1800X cpu and Vega 64 LC gpu and Asus Crosshair VI Extreme mobo? And what benchmarking tools can I use to measure those overclocks? Posted: 26 Oct 2019 04:50 PM PDT This is getting ridiculous. For the 3rd time in 6 months, I have lost everything on my computer; documents, pictures, bookmarks and programs. Every time Windows updates itself, this happens. And it's not even like starting over on a new computer. No, that would be too simple to fix. Stuff that windows comes with stops working: Calculator, Picture Viewer, Paint... all gone. I have to install 3rd-party apps to perform those functions. It took out Edge and Internet Explorer last time, so I had to download firefox onto a flash drive on another computer and sneaker-net it to this one. Please tell me that they have given us some kind of control over our own #$%@ing property?! [link] [comments]
cant drag chrome downloads into file explorer when copying to phones? Posted: 26 Oct 2019 11:21 AM PDT For items I download on chrome, when I drag the downloaded items into file explorer It doesn't allow me to move it onto android phones ive connected via usb. It gives a symbol that looks kinda like this https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31e0khNZWGL._SY445_.jpg it works for all other folders and hard drives, I don't know why it won't work when dragging it into my phones folder - do phones have differents file types which could be why it won't let me drag it into it? Windows 10 just basically killed itself :( Posted: 26 Oct 2019 02:24 PM PDT Hello, this is a long story so apologies if I dont go into much detail or get a thing or two wrong. I'll start off by saying I factory reset my Windows 10 computer about every 6-10 months or so. Just to keep it fast. I've tried to today and well they either updated the reset this pc option or my computer is just messed up, but unlike literally the past 12 times It wouldbt let me reset everything. Telling me to insert a removable installation and then restart the pc. I tried again, same thing. I probably screwed up at this point, probably because I've never done this type of thing. I tried to do some research, looked for an hour or two and gave up because nothing I looked for could help me. Except how to create a removable installation. I got a 64g flash drive from the wife a while back. This things probably a year or two old. Completely empty. Perfect. I run the windows 10 media creation tool and after a painful 20 minutes I got a full installation on there. Then I went on advanced startup and settings and went to the boot from menu and booted from the flash drive. Which oddly, when the media creation had put everything on the drive the storage cut from 64gb to 32gb and its name changed. So back to present, I booted from the flashdrive and the system started like normal but before going to the desktop it asked me to install windows. My intention being to factory reset I obliged and waited. Soon enough, It started loading into Windows. Everything seemed normal. Just bare bones windows 10. That is until I looked at the wifi. Nothing.. forgot to include, during the installation it asked me to connect to wifi. I was confused because I had wifi. Before, but it wasn't showing anymore.. just something named "Ethernet 2" with the words "No connection" below. I had to proceed with no wifi. Now this is where it gets confusing, it notified me that it was looking for display adapters and performance and screen resolution may be affected until found. I was able to switch to my native 1080p but it didn't say recommended like usual. It also said I was running 64hz when I have a 75hz monitor. Thinking something went terribly wrong I just did reset my pc again. This time it didn't ask me for any media. So fast forward an hour and a half later, this time with an installation process I actually recognize from the numerous other times I've reset as opposed to a stretched out purple installation window. To save some time, literally nothing changed. I dont have the slightest clue why this shit isn't working but I'll tell you what I do know. My USB's and USB wifi adapter are fine. My USB connected mouse and keyboard fully functional. My bluetooth stick recognized but not working probably because there's no connection. My headphones which connect via adapter do work however. My wifi stick probably works. It has no reason to just kill itself. Plus, I went through device manager. And it said my AMD RX 560 2GB wasn't even in there. Scary stuff. I dont know what even happened. Please help :( [link] [comments]

Random languages added and now cant change Xbox language? Posted: 26 Oct 2019 03:51 AM PDT Ok, so In the last year, french and some arabic has randomly appeared in my language tab. This happened both times that I was streaming, but other than confused and slightly anoyed, it dissapeared after rebot. But now, I downloaded Xbox Now and there is a problem, as the thing is entirely in arabic! https://imgur.com/UK47cNK In addition, can we PLEASE get a update to remove UNREMOVABLE languages. https://imgur.com/6rug54E I have a slovenian copy of windows, so I would like my keyboard to be exclusively in my own language, not to randomly have english added and not being able to remove it. I would not mind it, if the keyboard shortcuts didnt interfeer with my work. I understand having win+space to change the language, totaly fine, but then to also have shift +alt? If you are going to give us 2 shortcuts, at least make it easy to change them and honestly, the fact that I have to google this, on top of all the new and legacy windows controll panel settings things, it should not be that hard to simply dissable it.
