Posted: 30 Sep 2019 01:25 PM PDT So over the last 3 years, I have everything constantly being hacked. Social media, bank accounts, cell phone account, school accounts, EVERYTHING. I have 2fa (authy and not allowing multi-device), change my password every month, use randomly generated strong passwords, different passwords for everything. I don't believe my machine is compromised as I run virus/malware scans frequently. I've also gotten a new phone and computer from the time this has started yet it still constantly happens. Is there anything I can do to stop this? I'm constantly on the phone with the bank/cc company/non emergency law enforcement and they all tell me the same thing. Change my password. My emails are on haveibeenpwned and I found out at least 20 password changes ago so I don't think those database leaks are the issue. I'm so annoyed with having to constantly check my email to see if anyone has signed in or if foreign charges are being applied. If anyone knows anything I can do I would be glad to hear it. If this isn't the right place could someone kindly refer me to the correct subreddit? Thank you. Edit: Hi guys, thank you all for your time and advice I am truly grateful. Some people were asking for an update so I'm just going to lay out my plan for now. For now, my steps will be to create a master email with my important information using Protonmail, switching over to a password manager, and freezing my credit. I will also be cleaning up my hardware just to eliminate any variables. I did some digging and found some of my accounts on database leaks which would explain the initial breach but I am still a bit confused as to how it could be happening as it was 3 years ago and I have added many security measures since then. I probably won't have an update on effectiveness as this is something that happens occasionally to me every couples months so I won't know the impact of these changes immediately. The only immediate thing that is clear to me is I am being targeted. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:10 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm on an Acer running Windows 10. I've noticed my speakers always show as being extremely low, especially when watching videos, even when everything I can think of is turned up to the max. I use my laptops default speakers (RealTek Audio) with updated drivers. I use the Movies & TV app or VLC. Below is a picture of my sound settings to show you what I've turned up and how low it is compared to its maximum potential. Any help would be super appreciated, this has been a persistent problem I have no idea how to fix. Thanks a lot! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Oct 2019 01:19 AM PDT I just got a new PSU, made doubly sure the cables from it are plugged into appropriate positions. But the SATA cables are extremely overheating and one melted. I did nothing other than replace the PSU. Any ideas what could be causing this? As far as I can see, nothing else is melting or overheating. I'm unsure of the condition of the HDDs now. Posted: 01 Oct 2019 04:52 AM PDT Hi guys, If I get a new SSD and HDD then reconfigure the bios and reinstall the OS, will this completely remove any virus I have on my PC currently ? Just somone was saying a virus could potentially latch onto other components but wasnt sure if this was true. Thanks for any response. [link] [comments] |
Need help with black screen of death on HP laptop { HP G6 2209 SE ) Posted: 01 Oct 2019 01:31 AM PDT So it started with my windows not booting up and it going into advanced repair menu. Tried "restoring" and also "resetting" with keeping the files intact. Wouldn't work, tried many times . Only option I was left it was install a fresh copy of windows from USB. Now I just wanted to backup the files on C: to another partition so I don't loose my data. So I made a live Linux USB to run a portable Linux just to copy my data. Now is where I f** up. My windows is corrupt and I am on windows 10 . I have done portable linux USB and dual boot on desktop and windows 7 only. The Linux doesn't boot up so I am on Google and go through many forums ,some guy suggested to enable legacy mode in BIOS. I thought what could possibly go wrong. The laptop turned off and whatever I tried it's not giving any display at all. Its just black screen of death. I have tried the following things 1. Tried resetting BIOS by key combination. 2. Tried resetting CMOS by key combination. 3. Tried resetting the laptop by holding down power key. 4. Removed memory modules and hard disk and re-inserted them. Tried to boot up,no use. 5. Tried creating a BIOS recovery on USB stick by the software on HP solutions website. They only have "diagnostic" for Windows 7,8 and 8.1. FML. Tried anyways to create the USB. The windows 8 and 8.1 gives error while creating the USB. Tried with windows 7 version on a desktop, finally succeeded in making the diagnostic BIOS USB stick. Insert it , turn on the laptop , nothing. My last guess is CMOS battery is dead. My laptop is 6 year's old so HP support service centre wouldn't be quite helpful and the service is horrible with ridiculous charges . It's black screen of death so no imagery attached to the post. Help me out guys . Edit : Got it checked by a local technician , he says mostly my motherboard is the problem or is dead . Gonna backup my data . Any other suggestions/opinions are appreciated . Thank you . [link] [comments] |
PC boots , Fans and LED lights turn on but there is no signal to the monitor. Please help Posted: 01 Oct 2019 12:56 AM PDT so i purchased a prebuilt PC at the beginning of June and it worked solid for about 3 months. one day i jumped on and was playing csgo when i started to blue screen constantly but it wasn't a normal blue screen it was like kinda orange so i restarted my PC and hoped that it would fix it self... it didn't, it did the blue screen thing again, when i restarted i was able to get onto csgo and play for about 10 mins when it did the same screen again (i have a photo of the screen) so i restarted once again, i played for another 10 mins and then my screen suddenly became pixelated with white particles, my PC then shut off and i couldn't get signal to my monitor. i recently bought a new GPU thinking that was the problem and that it had just died but it wasn't, i tried some different ram but that didn't work either. i need answers please, i'm lost as to what i need to do [link] [comments] |
Logging on to windows 10, screen goes black Posted: 01 Oct 2019 06:09 AM PDT Hello. I have Windows 10 64bit. One day when I logged on my account, the screen goes black and the only thing that shows up is the mouse. I am still able to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to the blue screen with shutdown, logout etc. I've left it for an hour and nothing happened. What do I do? If possible, is their a away to create a new account and deleted the old admin account before you get to log on screen within cmd, bios...? [link] [comments] |

Can anyone fix this? I have windows 10, i tried looking up the sata driver of my mobo but no progress as well. [link] [comments] |
Trying to rip songs from "Yarych" Winx Club app (iOS) Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:43 AM PDT The app "Yarych" is iPhone only. I installed the app, got the app file from the device and tried to extract it. Files seem encrypted though. The audio files are in FSB format. Because of the encryption of these files, I can't extract them. I'm stuck here. :( [link] [comments] |
Internet is fine but cant play games or watch twitch.tv Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:43 AM PDT My internet is running as it should, i have no problem watching youtube in max settings or doing other things, however when i try to play games (ex: WoW, LoL) or watch twitch.tv i get massive lag, the internet still works fine for other things but the games keep getting high ping. This happens on 2 computers and a playstation, both computers are connected to the internet via cable. My provider says the problem should be on my end since the internet speeds are normal and they cant diagnose any problem, im confused since this started randomly and the problem doesnt affect my computer alone, I would appreciate any help I can get. (Sorry for the scuffed english) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:40 AM PDT APC SmartUPS 1500 just suddenly started chirping constantly with all front panel LEDs blinking at around 7 am this morning. Attached equipment immediately powered off. This is a new desktop build so the PowerChute software hasn't been installed yet. Pressing the power or test buttons had no effect. Unplugged all the equipment just in case. Chirping and blinking continued even after unplugging it from the wall. Disconnecting the battery stopped it. Video: https://streamable.com/4npzg The unit itself is 12 years old, but I never had a problem with it. The battery itself was last replaced about 3 years ago. During a recent power outage, I noticed the run-time wasn't as long as I expected (less than 5 minutes vs 20 minutes), so I was planning on replacing the battery today anyway. I'm hoping that's the cause, and not something more serious that would require replacing the entire unit. Has anyone seen this behaviour before? [link] [comments] |
49.4C02 error on HP Printer Laserjet 2300n Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:39 AM PDT I tried disconnecting the usb cable connecting to PC, it is still showing the error when only power cord is connected. I also tried changing the RAM like thing in all three different ports; same error. [link] [comments] |
My Google pixel's speakers and mic don't work sometimes. Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:39 AM PDT Sometimes my pixel doesn't have sound period, it isn't the speakers because sometimes it works. If I do have sound and turn it off and on I won't have sound, and it takes a few resets after that to get sound again. It does however vibrate when on the charger, not while off the charger though. The phone can't make calls because of these problems either, and when this problem occurs the mic doesn't work and videos refuse to play, however as soon as I connect something like a Bluetooth headset to the phone videos play and the sound comes out the headphones. Other then those things everything functions the same. Though I also cannot calls without my phone crashing. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:36 AM PDT What is the chance of a faulty battery do you think and what is the chance that it could explode without you noticing? I saying this because a news artitle headline (I'm not paying for it) said a teenager died listening to music in bed and the battery exploded beside her head. I just do not think it is possible without you noticing or having done some stupid e.g. leave it under pillows, on heater, etc. [link] [comments] |

AMD GPU - 5700XT Constant Problems Posted: 30 Sep 2019 10:00 PM PDT Hey folks, First post on this sub, hope I didn't get anything wrong, so on so forth. I'm sure you know the drill. My problem will be listed below my specs so you know what I'm working with: PCPartPicker Part List CPU | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor CPU Cooler | Noctua NH-L9i 33.84 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard | Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard Memory | Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory Storage | Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Storage | Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card | XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB Video Card Case | Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV SHIFT Mini ITX Tower Case Power Supply | Corsair SF 600 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular SFX Power Supply Operating System | Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit GPU Driver | Radeon Software Version 19.9.2 Radeon Settings Version | 2019.0910.1749.32088 The problem I've been having, basically since day 1, is consistent GPU errors. These include:
I'm at my wits' end, and I'm wondering if this GPU is borked and I need to find a new one. If it helps, my Windows 10 is version 10.0.18362 Build 18362. My CPU is not overclocked. My BIOS version is the latest listed on the Gigabyte X570i support page. I've got Wattman configured to have the GPU fan spin up to wind-turbine mode when it's >80C, and it does usually get to 90-93C in Mordhau but not other games. I fully reinstalled Windows 10 about 28 days ago, and did not install any other OS until today (yay Linux 5.3). If you need any other info, please let me know. I'm really not looking for "AMD bad, Intel/Nvidia good" which I only state because I've had that before. Thank you. Supposedly solved, u/ThisWorldIsAMess shared with me that PCIe 4.0 is big suck. Turned it off, and we're in business. [link] [comments] |

iPhone email problem - POP to Exchange Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:23 AM PDT I have an old POP email account setup on an iPhone but recently moved to MS Exchange. This means I now have two email accounts on my phone - the old POP account (the settings don't work any more but I need to see the old emails occasionally), and the Exchange account (which is the one I use on a daily basis.) Is it possible to get the old emails into the new Exchange account without a (Windows computer and Outlook)? What will happen to the old emails if I delete the account from the phone?
