    Query about rooting and warranty

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 09:48 PM PDT

Rooting voids warranty of phone, as bootloader has to be unlocked, but many phone companies allow this. 1. Does rooting Xiaomi phones void warranty 2. In case the phone has to be submitted to tech center - can the bootloader be re-locked again and un-rooted? Is this applicable to high end phones?

As stated in the title, when listening to music via Spotify on my Mi 9 SE, a cracking sound appears and the headphones seem to stop working for after that.

Moving form iPhone 8 to xiaomi

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 07:04 AM PDT

9 years ago I moved from PC to apple as their build quality and user friendly "it just works" software.

Fast forward to today and well we all know apple isn't the great beast it was.

2 years ago I lost my iPhone 6s which was an amazing piece of phone. I replaced it with an iPhone 8 which from that day just never seemed that great.

The love affair is over and I'm curious to break the chains of the iOS ecosystem

Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be a good phone to make the switch too.

I don't want to go backwards in hardware But I also don't want to go top of the line incase it doesn't work out

As interesting as the k20/9T looks I've found myself considering the note 7/7 pro And the A3 amongst other versions

Also the mix, I've heard is sort of dead ?

Banned by administrator when trying to register on xiaomi.eu

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 12:23 PM PDT

I tried all different email addresses to sign up but every time the "administrator has banned blah blah blah" shows up. I literally have not done a single thing other than download the roms and look at the forum. What do I do? I just wanted to register to ask some things on the newest rom thread.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 12:30 PM PDT

Hello! I have a new Redmi Note 7, and i have a question: is it possible to ingrease the battery percentage text? It is very small. I also have the text dim to L, but the percentage text is the same, for me it's impossible to read, also with the glasses.

    Thank you

    Redmi Note 8

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 05:05 PM PDT

According to some sources, the new Note 8 is coming in a few days. Do you think it will be a big step up from the Note 7 and will it keep its price? I wanted to upgrade from my Redmi Note 3 to Note 7 but seeing this I want to put it on hold.

Solution for battery problems in Mi 9 SE (at least for me)

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 02:38 PM PDT

Hi, i want to show you mi solutions after months of looking to them. I tried all, disable google, google assistant, use facebook lite instead of normal facebook, using low brightness, etc. Doing this, i only had 3 hs of SOT. My solution was putting on battery saver, and type ##4636##, then set preferred network as wcdma. Now i have 61%, and with that 39%, i had 2hs 31min of SOT. I hope that this will help you all.

From Mi Mix 1 to Mi 9. First impressions

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 01:39 AM PDT

Will be brief and update later.. Some comments are obvious (difficult to compare a 2016 phone with a 2019) , but..

    Pro (to the change)

    • Definitely faster, by a lot
    • Better camera positioning
    • Better camera (although I thought the camera - would -be much better, but.it doesn't feel MUCH better...)
    • Great fingerprint unlock position
    • Great face unlock
    • IR, yeahhh I missed it a lot

    Con (to the change)

    • Mi Mix 1 is so beautiful, unbeatable
    • Screen ratio of MI Mix is sooo much better, I don't understand this new slim and long phones, they are horrible to me
    • Battery life
    • No 3,5mm jack????? I miss it a lot!!!!
    • Notch? Really ugly, but camera has to be up, never again down
    • Ceramic speaker, ohhh I enjoyed it so much, now with the MI 9 it takes time to find the perfect spot

Considering buying the Mi Band 4, question about the bracelet

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 07:03 AM PDT

Hi! I've recently gotten news that I need to exercise. My health isn't at risk yet, but if I keep my current weight (77 kg for 178 cm), and since I store fat in organs rather than around the body, my gamma GT tracers are a bit high and I could be at risk of a non alcoholic cirrhosis. So, I've decided to start running. Which I hate, though I like the "high" at the end of the effort. But that's beside the point.

I've had the very first Mi Band some 4 years ago, and I wasn't concerned back then but now I'm curious as to the health hazards of wearing such a device. I've read about the Bluetooth and I'm not worried one bit about emissions and potential electronic waves. I'm more worried about the material used in the polyurethane bracelet, notably potential endocrine disruptors. I've wandered a bit online but haven't found any solid evidence supporting either the presence or absence of endocrine disruptors. Does anyone here have more information maybe?

    Many thanks!

    FDE.Ai broke my K20 and I can't fix it

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 02:38 AM PDT

So, as I say in the title, I've got this problem and I don't know how to solve it. I already looked on the other thread but I couldn't find anything really helpful.

It all started when I installed this module from Magisk (®FDE.AI, a battery optimizer). At the time I was using the xiaomi.eu ROM. When I rebooted the phone, as required, the recovery showed up, with the "/sdcard/" folder empty.

From then, I tried changing ROM back and forth, but the problem is always the same: -When I install some apps and I reboot the phone or it boots in recovery or erase everything (showing me the initial setup screen) -If the TWRP is installed and it reboot in recovery, I get either random error (in the data folder) or something like "Unable to mount /cache" and "Unable to mount /data" -Random apps, at random condition, freeze. (Ex. Whatsapp, Telegram, Volum Control, Settings, Launcher, etc...)

ROM that I tried: -xiaomi.EU -Lineage OS -MIUI 10.3.6.0 and MIUI 10.3.8.0 by fastboot (both messing up with the phone sensor: I had to flash persist.img) -MIUI 10.3.11.0

What I already tried: -Lock/Unlock bootloader -Change TWRP -Flash with Mi Flash the stock ROM -Wiping Data/Cache/System and Format Data -EDL flashing (without opening the back, but with the command "fastboot oem edl-mode"): it gives me an error, saying that my account is unauthorized -Changing back and fourth the partitions -Repairing the partitions

What should I try to do? I'm very desperate. Could be that the module I installed is still in the system?

Sometimes, in the TWRP, I got errors like "Unable to mount nameofapartition", or "Error opening /data/data/.../incomprensible_filename".

NB. To be fair, I made this post on XDA. I think is well-written, so I copypasted it here and made some adjustment. Maybe someone help :/

Bluetooth earbuds and headphones not working

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 05:37 AM PDT

    Hello,

Lately I had this problem where my Bluetooth devices wouldn't play sounds anymore. They connect just fine, but they don't play any sound or music. It is not the fault of the headphones, they work fine on my laptop. I have a redmi note 5 pro.

They used to work normally but suddenly it stopped working. I've tried restarting my phone and headphones several times, unpairing and pairing etc.

Have you guys had this problem or do you know how to fix it?

Does having another countries' rom affect usage?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2019 05:18 AM PDT

I received the 'Global rom' version for the K20 Pro from aliexpress and it turns out it's just the Indian version of the phone (Raphaelin) with 10.3.3 Global MiUI. I have only just done some research into roms for this phone and global roms don't exist yet so I was stupid for not researching before. It sucks that I had to pay an extra £20 for no reason. Does having the Indian rom affect my future usage?
