WiFi speeds are SIGNIFICANTLY slower than advertised Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:24 PM PDT I'm pretty new to wifi and only know the basics but here it goes We use Xfinity wifi and are supposed to bet download speeds of 150 Mbps. I ran a speed test with no one else on the wifi on my computer with a wifi adapter with speeds up to 1200 Mbps. I was only getting 25 Mbps for downloads. Thanks for help in advance [link] [comments] |
More RAM vs faster RAM on R3 2200G Posted: 26 Aug 2019 02:25 AM PDT Hey there, I currently have a R3 2200G with 2x4GB 3000 MHz RAM overclocked to 3200MHz. I plan on upgrading my CPU to a 3600 at some point. My question is this: Is it better to underclock my current RAM modules to 2400MHz and put 2 more 4 GB sticks of a different brand in my PC or stick to 8GB @ 3200MHz? 2400MHz, 16GB, 4 modules, 2 brands or 3200MHz, 8GB, 2 modules, 1 brand? My motherboard and GPU are fine, my CPU is actually a bottleneck on my RTX 2060 but it's a hard sell for me to upgrade it to a 3600 with only 8GB of RAM total. Thanks. Edit: In case it isn't clear, I don't use the chip's itegrated graphics, I use a discrete GPU. [link] [comments] |
Not even coming close to "Gigabyte Speed" with new internet plan Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:07 PM PDT I recently changed my internet package with Xfinity to their "Gigabit Speed" package. When the technician was here he did a speed test on his device that reached 956mbps when hooked directly to the new hardware he installed. I have a gaming PC with Cat6 ethernet running directly to the modem/router (whatever the equipment is that Xfinity provides) and am still only getting speeds of roughly 160mbps download and 41mbps upload. Is this just another big company scam that I have to try and deal with over the phone or is there something I am missing here? Also noteworthy, I have looked in the settings of the Xfinity router where it does confirm that we have the "Gigabit Speed" package. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to change a read only file into a read/write file? Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:12 AM PDT I was looking at the files of an apk on my S8+ and 8 couldn't edit a .txt file as it says that its read only, apparently it needs to be "remounted as a read/write file", is there any way to do it on a unrooted or even a rooted phone? Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:06 AM PDT Just upgraded from an RX 590 to an RTX 2070 and have had nothing but problems with the switch. Configured all of the windows settings and nvidia control panel and still get jumpy gpu usage on games such as gta 5, the division 2, and cod black ops 3. My cpu isn't a bottleneck as I have a ryzen 5 2600x, can anyone help? I hate stuttering :\ [link] [comments] |
Deleting Operating system from sshd Posted: 26 Aug 2019 01:53 AM PDT Hey i recently ordered a new ssd i wanted to use as boot drive and for other stuff i wanted to speed up, i ordered some new cables to be able to connect them both, but the cables got lost, so i got inpatient and removed the old sshd with windows and all my old stuff on out, put in the new ssd and installed windows on it, and downlaoded som online games were i didn't need any save files, now im just wondering when my new cable comes and i connect the old sshd, how do i delete the old Windows insallation on it, and if i delete windows on the sshd, do i still keep all the old things on it, like games and save files? and if i delete the old windows isntallation on it does my ssd automatically become the boot drive? HDD I've been using with Wii U powers on but computer nor console can read Posted: 26 Aug 2019 01:42 AM PDT External drive I took out of it's case as I thought the issue may have something to do with the case ports. The drive does not show up in BIOS or fdisk -l but fdisk -l does hang so it's trying. What can I do to get the data off the drive? [link] [comments] |
[SPEEDTEST] SSD EVO 850 6000MB/s Posted: 26 Aug 2019 03:33 AM PDT Ok, so this is weird, i just SpeedTest my Samsung EVO 850 which should do somethink like 500-550 MB/s, BUT, it happen a really really weird thing, it does 6000MB/s !! I mean, i even don`t have Motherboard with PCIE Gen 4. I have an MSI B450 Gaming Plus. So, one ssd normal sata should do 500-550 MB/s then if you want more speed you must buy an SSD M.2(format) with NVME gen 3 to reach something like 3500MB/s(read sequential) OR if you want more speed you must buy an M.2 NVME gen 4 which can reach something close to 5000MB/s(read sequential). But my ssd which should do 500-550MB/s benchmarks show it does 6000MB/s even 7000MB/s in some benchmark. So i will put the 3 different benchMarks that I did here:
ReadSequential: 6251MB/s WriteSequential: 6380MB/s 2)CristalDiskMark ReadSequential: 6311MB/s WriteSequential: 6328MB/s 3)https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19586075 ReadSequential: 7429MB/s WriteSequential: 7262MB/s So first time I just think ("ok, this must be a bug, let`s try with another softwereBenchmark"), but all what i try, I have high results. I mean, even an NVME GEN 4 doesn`t do that results. The question is: HOW can be that possible. I can only think, that may be, that my Ryzen5 3600 use cash memory for speed up that ssd, but in that case, why i should buy an NVME GEN 4, pretty expensive, if i can just take a normal ssd and run equal or even faster? The second question is, IF i buy and M.2 NVME (gen 3 or 4) will go faster OR NOT ?? If AMD CPU Ryzen 5 3600 "multiply" the speed, like my 550MB/s(manufacture "Samsung" spec) so 6300/550=11.45 that mean that an M.2 NVME Gen 3 should go 11.45*3300=37785MB/s and an M.2 NVME Gen4 should go close to 11.45*4900= 56105MB/s I really don`t understand what to think, really, what boost my ssd so hard that is faster than an M.2 Gen4. Now, if they do not realease an update to down the speed of regular ssd, who will buy M.2 Gen 4? I`m shocked. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 05:51 PM PDT Whats up, ive moved into my dorm and figured id bring my gaming PC with me for some fun. Once i set everything else and booted up to play some OW, I was greeted by the most janky looking, low res title screen which was really out of the norm for me. I used to be able (used to as in literally 2 days ago) to run Overwatch consistently with everything on AT LEAST high. Ive chalked up the problem to maybe the graphics somehow being routed to the integrated GPU within my processor? The models were on Low video setting, and the render autoing to 35% and the textures also being on low. Very strange considering that as i have said before, my PC would run everything on high/ultra without breaking a sweat. Task manager says my GPU is flatlining with a constant 0% usage while my memory and CPU are getting absolutely eaten, so im assuming that somehow, for whatever reason, my GPU is being ousted in favor for the integrated GPU in my Processor. Here are my specs in case you need to know. GPU: GTX 960 Processor: i7-3770k If anyone has had any problems similar to mine or will know a fix, please let me know! Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Aug 2019 01:19 AM PDT Sometimes when I boot up my pc, my monitor doesn't respond and the RGB lights on my keyboard and mouse don't work; so i have to disconnect the power chord from my PC for a few hours and then it is working. I haven't overclocked any parts of my PC. I'm on windows 10. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and/or how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
WD Green 2TB HDD not spinning up Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:48 AM PDT I purchased a 2TB WD Elements external hdd around 5-7 years ago just as a backup drive mainly. Up until last night I have had 0 issues with the drive, I have recently changed desktop to an Asus ROG GR8 and had the Elements disconnected for a few days while I set up Windows and such. Last night I plugged it into the system and back into the power socket and got nothing. The light on the back of the enclosure lit up for a split second and then went as dim as it could without being off. I figured maybe it was the power connection inside the enclosure so I popped it open, took out the hard drive and attached it into another enclosure I have. I get the sound of it repeatedly trying to spin up but that is all. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this/get the data off? Windows 10 PC becomes unresponsive overnight Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:47 AM PDT This is a new issue, and have had no recent system changes. If I leave my PC on overnight, even if it's not on all day, I have to force a shutdown. Has an Asus ROG Strix B350-F mobo. Yellow light is present when this occurs Fans are all running and sound okay. I've checked the event log, but nothing stands out. It just stops logging when this occurs. When restarted, it will run fine all day until the next night. So I assume some process is starting that's causing this, but I can't tell what it is. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:44 AM PDT A year ago, i bought a gtx 750 ti online. Recently, it started glitching the screen on startup. Sometimes my cpu beeps one time, then the screen glitched when loading windows. When i inserted my old gpu, which was a gt 710, it worked just fine. But, i want to know if there is a way to fix the gtx 750 ti, or if the problem lies somewhere else. [link] [comments] |

RAM upgrade (HP Gaming laptop) Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:24 AM PDT I'm looking to upgrade my HP Gaming laptop to play City Skylines as it keeps slowing down or crashing. (The CPU is Intel core i5-6300hq @2.3GHz but not sure its as simple to upgrade that). I have 2 RAM slots, currently slot 2 has 8gb RAM (SK Hynix, DDR3, 1600 MHz SODIMM). My question is: If I buy 2 16gb RAM is it a case of unscrewing it all to put them in the slots and then screwing it back together and it'll just work? I've looked to buy 2 16gb RAM but feel overwhelmed by the variety of ones to choose. Does it matter which one I pick as long as it says 16gb? Or would you suggest I just go to a shop to get it done (London based)? These may be stupid questions, sorry in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:20 AM PDT So, my friend keeps disconnecting (game kicks him out, teamspeak disconnects, steam goes offline for a moment) whenever we play games, mainly Roblox (don't judge). It's not a problem with his router/network since other devices work properly and don't disconnect. His laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 500-14isk, running Windows 10 probably 2 years old and up. It's not wired up to the router, but neither are the other devices. Any ideas how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
PC keeps waking up from sleep mode when connected to LAN Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:14 AM PDT My PC wakes up when I put it in sleep mode, sometimes it takes about 30 seconds and sometimes it's almost instant. I tried disconnecting the LAN cable, and the problem went away. When I connected the LAN cable when the PC was in sleep mode, it woke up as soon as I connected the cable. The problems started only a couple of days ago, before it worked fine for over a year. Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:11 AM PDT So, I'm an idiot and spilled a drink on my laptop keyboard. No problem, turned it off, took keyboard apart, cleaned it, put it back together. Everythings working and un-stickied, but after a while some keys seem to also trigger other keys. For example, "t" also types a "v" and vice versa, and most annoyingly, the tab key also prints a "q". Whats curious is, that the affected keys are neither next to each other, nor on the side where I spilled the drink. I assume, something connects the wiring where it shouldn't be connected. Is there any way to fix this? [link] [comments] |
internet working fine yet some websites refuse to open, also "page took to long to load" Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:10 AM PDT made a clean install of windows 7 on an ssd, computer nearby with the same net is working just fine (same realtek ethernet controller driver). yet this one despite windows working perfectly and fast, isn't loading a website like tom hardware for example. can't install java because no download will open, meanwhile other sites work fine. I tried different vpn and nothing, right now it is set on auto. this blows my mind because I never encountered such a confusing problem. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:05 AM PDT Hello, i have a trust tytan 2.1 speaker set and when i am listening on spotify the speakers crackles on certain songs/beats. The volume is set not that loud (i've had to buy a cable extension to reach the subwoofer). The speakers do not crackle when i am doing anything else. I have tried common fixes like: - change the bits and hz - disable/enable that programs get priority - disable/enable sound effects Thank you in advance [link] [comments] |
