Opinion on Amd-laptop vs intel (T495 vs T490) for student

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 01:10 AM PDT

Hi guys! First of all, i want to apologize if i make any mistakes writing this post (not a native speaker).

I am a currently studying engineering in Austria and i need to buy a new laptop. This semester i will be working with software programs like matlab, mentor graphics PADS, Eagle, Altium,... For the OS i will be dual-booting Linux and Win10.

When i looked for a laptop i found these lenovo campus laptops for much cheaper price than what they would normally cost. One of them was the Thinkpad T495 with a ryzen 3500u, 16gb ram and a 512gb ssd in it for 999€. The other one is the Thinkpad t490 with intels i7-8565U, also 16gb of ram and 512gb ssd and a dGpu (mx 250 2gb) for 1299€.

My question here is which one would be the better pick. The only problem i have with ryzen is the compatibility with programs like matlab that apparently run much faster on intels cpu as opposed to the amd ones, often beating them by a lot. I also will be doing some digital video processing. Another problem on the internet i found is the problems in linux ( crashes, driver problems?). This is important for me because i will be doing embedded programming too so i dont want my laptop crashing when working on it. I am not that knowledgeable about how to fix these kind of problems so it would be better if these problems don't come up in the first place. (Not a linux expert but not a complete beginner either (used it for one sem.))

So to wrap this up: Is it worth the extra speed and the mx250 for the 300€? Keep in mind my budget was originally only 1000€ so the thinkpad with the intel is a little to much for me. If it really is worth it then i will get the intel one. Otherwise, if performance isn't that much better than i would happily get the amd one. This would be the first laptop i buy brand new (my last and first one was a used thinkpad x240). I am planning to use either one for a long time, 4yrs+

Here are the links to both laptops with specs: ~Thinkpad T495: https://www.edustore.at/thinkpad-university-t495-20nks01y00

Other Laptops i found (both Hp, but i dont know if HP is good in terms of Build quality, stability and in general how long they last): ~ https://m.notebooksbilliger.de/hp+envy+x360+15+dr0102ng

U.K. Engineering student laptop. Budget £700-1300

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 03:19 AM PDT

Hi, I am about to start an engineering degree in the uk and I am in need of a new laptop. I would like my new laptop to be able to run programs such as AutoCAD and other heavy softwares that will be available through the course. The mobility of the laptop isn't a massive issue but I would be bringing it around to lectures so it would have to fit into a rucksack. I would like a laptop with a decent battery life and one that will fit my needs as a general student and for specialist engineering software. As I said in the post the budget is around £700-£1300 but for the right laptop would be leanient on either side.

Also I need my laptop to be durable as I am clumsy and I need it too last me at least 4 years

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

Help me choosing a Dell Latitude!

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 02:39 AM PDT

    Hi everyone!

I've been looking for a programming / light gaming / everyday usage laptop for a while, my main requirements are:

    -16 GB of RAM

-Intel Core i7-8th gen (but might also stick to a i5-8th gen if necessary)

    -512 GB SSD

    -14" or 15" display

I'm mostly oriented on Dell Latitudes and Lenovo Thinkpads (T-series), my budget is around €900-€1300 and I'm buying from Europe (Italy

This morning I took a look to Dell website and I found out it has a lot of nice Latitudes for sale, I'm interested in two models in particular:

    -Dell Latitude 5501 (~€1360)

    -Dell Latitude 7490 (~€1370)

The Latitude 5501 looks very nice because it meets all my requirements and also has a trackpoint, fingerprint scanner and a dedicated GPU (2GB GDDR5 NVidia MX150). The problem is I can't find any reviews about this model (unlike the Latitude 7490) and I'm not sure if I'm missing something, so I'd like to have some suggestions about what should I choose.

    Thank you in advance!

MSI GF75 or Legion Y540? Gaming and work

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 04:45 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm stuck between these two laptops. Please help?!

    MSI GF75

    GTX 1650 4GB INTEL CORE I7 8750H 8GB DDR4 RAM 256GB SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen 3×2 17.3" display 2.2kg $1110

    Lenovo Legion Y540

    Geforce GTX1650 4GB Intel Core i5 9300H 8GB 128GB SSD M.2 1TB HDD 7200 rpm 15.6″ Display $990 (I could also get the i7 version for the same price as the MSI)

I'm an expat in Vietnam so I'm. Bit worried about what I've been hearing about MSI customer support. Also as I'm living in a hot country I would need to think about temps too.

Any help on which would be best bang for the buck?

    Thanks in advance

High end 2 in 1 gaming laptop

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 04:35 AM PDT

I am looking for a 2 in 1 laptop that can play games such as the Witcher 3 and monster hunter world at medium to high graphics. Budget is under $3000, but if there are compelling options above that I will consider it. The laptop will be used for programming, gaming and note taking. Ideally, I would like something like the HP Spectre x360 15t or the surface book 2 but with better gaming performance.

A freshman going into University looking for recommendations/advices to decide what laptop to get!

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 04:11 AM PDT

Total budget and country of purchase: S$1600 (Singapore), converts to about USD$1000

Do you prefer 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for money?: Good battery life

How important is weight and thinness to you?: Preferably less and like 1.6kg and sleek looking

Which OS do you require?: Windows

Do you have a preferred screen size?: N/A

    Do you do any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming?: N/A

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices?:

Mainly, reliable build quality (esp worried about sturdiness, any heating problems as I would like the machine to last as long as possible), as well as at least 256GB SSD and 8GB ram which is pretty standard.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I'll be studying business so mainly just for readings and projects! Just want something decently fast, reliable and sleek looking! I have been considering Acer Swift 5, ASUS Zenbook/Vivobook but currently leaning towards ASUS bcs of bad experience with Acer! Any recommendations? or opinions/experience especially from owners of Zenbook/Vivobook would be much appreciated!

[$1,400] laptop that can handle Photoshop, FL studio, and animation software [US]

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 09:12 PM PDT

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:**

    $1,400 max.

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.**

I don't care about a touch screen. I do care about solid battery life.

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?**

I'm coming from a (2014) macbook air, so I would like it to not be much larger or heavier than it if possible.

    * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.**

Don't really care as long as it can run photoshop, FL studio, and toon boom harmony without any problems.

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.**

    N/A

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.**

Drawing and painting in Photoshop, making music in FL studio, and animating in toon boom harmony. No gaming.

    * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?**

    No gaming.

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

Keyboard has to be good, trackpad has to be comparable to that of a macbook, screen must have vibrant colors and be at least 1080p. Don't care about a touch screen, don't care bout finger print reader

    * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.*

I've been looking into the Dell XPS 13 laptops because they have vibrant screens, solid battery life, sleek design, are lightweight, and have a good keyboard and trackpad. I've heard that these laptops can slow down with heavy usage though, so I just want to know which laptop would be best equipped to handle the programs I mentioned and take it like a champ. I've heard that if a processor has a "U" on the end of the number that it's not that powerful. For reference, one of the Dell XPS 13 laptops I'm looking at has an intel core i7-8565U. How does this translate into real-world usage?

I'm also wondering if I should just get a new macbook air because my current macbook air has been able to handle all of my programs fairly well. I started researching laptops because the screen has really washed out colors which is a problem because I do coloring in photoshop. I also wouldn't mind staying in the macbook family because I have learned a lot of hotkeys/shortcuts for Photoshop and FL studio which I would have to relearn if I bought a windows laptop. By the way, I'm a college student so maybe there are some laptops that have decent student discounts?

    Thanks :)

Laptop for limited engineering and mainly casual use

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:58 PM PDT

I made a post here recently, but I decided to change up my wants for the laptop a little bit after researching the gaming laptops recommended to me in my previous post. I was seriously thinking about getting the Razer Blade 15, but all the negative reviews turned me off. I want something that will last me years, be lightweight but sturdy for travel, and preferably also be relatively fast.

Total budget and country of purchase:

    Max 1000-2000 USD. United States

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

    I don't want a 2 in 1. I definitely want good battery life.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Weight and thinness matter. I'd like the laptop to be around 5 pounds or lighter, and be relatively thin.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    N/A

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I will be doing programming, and various other software on the side. I will be doing some very light CAD (mind that CAD is definitely not my main priority for this laptop) and some light CFD. (ANSYS) CAD and CFD are not what I want the laptop for, I would like the laptop to be fast enough to run them but my main priority is web browsing and Microsoft Office.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Gaming is NOT my top priority by far. I want a fast laptop, which might mean for a gaming laptop (in which case I would download games like overwatch and csgo), but if there is a laptop that is fast and can multitask without being a gaming laptop, I would love it. If I were to game, the worst settings and FPS playable would do for me.
    (GAMING IS NOT PRIORITY!)

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)

I don't want a fingerprint reader or a touch screen. I do, however, want a reliable build quality. Basically, I want a Macbook but windows, and fast enough to multitask a lot. I want good cooling and a pretty silent laptop. A good keyboard would be very nice as I would be typing a lot. The touchpad isn't too important, I'll probably be using a mouse.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I don't want Lenovo Thinkpads at all, they were kind of ruined for me by school despite being amazing laptops. I dont mind buying a gaming laptop at all, but I DO NOT want to sacrifice the build quality, weight and noise just to game with. My most important factors are (in order of most importance to least): Build Quality(I am willing to spend the money solely for a great build quality. I would love a mac design, but for windows), Speed(fast enough to multitask and open software mentioned above well, def does not need to be so fast to run heavy games however), Battery(at least lasts a couple hours), Thinness, Noise, Cooling, Weight(light enough to carry to school every day), Gaming. I do not do CFD or CAD professionally, I am only learning, so I do not need all the heavy support for high end CAD work. Most of my time on the laptop will be used on google chrome, but I want the laptop fast enough to run it without ever having a problem. A fast laptop is also very appreciated as I want to learn new things and I would find it awesome if my computer could run many different softwares smoothly- like maybe photoshop one day, blender, some kind of music producing software, maybe even animation.

    Thank you very much!!!!!

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $600 USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Don't care for 2 in 1 and don't need touchscreen. Best specs for the money would be my preference, then secondarily battery life.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Somewhat, would need to be able to put it in my backpack, but I'd be willing to compromise on weight if its worth it.

I use Photoshop for my photography and occasionally edit video with Sony Vegas.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Would like it to be able run CS:GO, preferably on somewhat high video settings with at least 30 fps if it's possible

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Not super important but a fingerprint reader would be nice.

[$800 USD] Budget laptop for multi-tasking/college/work usage

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 02:17 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $800 USD NA (USA)

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Battery life must be at least 8 hours, and an IPS/good quality screen. 2 in 1 is not a concern.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? I prefer it to be light and under 3-4lb

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows/Linux

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. A decent size

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Mostly work/college, videos, multi-tasking.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? IPS display, decent slim-ish bezel size, HDMI, USB 3.x, 8GB RAM

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I would prefer for a clean looking laptop, not to slim. I was thinking about getting the Lenovo 730 Yoga. It's a 2 in 1 which is a plus but that's not a huge bonus for me any my uses. Was wondering if this is good and if there's any other similar laptops with the same build quality, keyboard, and display etc that might be better than this.

Looking to buy casual-gaming and everyday-use laptop - few options available

    Posted: 03 Aug 2019 01:21 AM PDT

    Hi,

I am looking to replace my current laptop with a newer model. I am at most a casual gamer and otherwise use my laptop for normal browsing and programming. I don't need performance for anything else but a few games I want to play.

This is my current laptop (about five years old - Lenovo Ideapad):

    • Intel Core i7 3630QM @ 2.40GHz
    • 8 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
    • 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M
    • 16 GB SSD, 931 GB HD
    • 1920x1080, 15.6"

As you might have guessed, this laptop was also purchased as a casual gaming laptop and has served me well. But given its age, it doesn't run particularly smooth anymore, so I'm looking to get a newer one.

I am in Norway and through some research have identified the following laptop options available here in my price range:

    Lenovo Ideapad 330

    • 15.6" FHD Matt
    • GeForce GTX1050 4GB
    • Core i7-8750H
    • 16GB RAM
    • 256GB PCIe SSD

      Lenovo Ideapad L340

    • 15" FHD Matt

    • GeForce GTX1650 4GB

    • Core i5-9300H

    • 8GB RAM

    • 512GB PCIe SSD

      Lenovo Ideapad S540

    • 15.6" FHD

    • GeForce GTX1650 4GB

    • Core i5-8265U Quad Core

    • 8GB RAM

    • 512GB PCIe SSD

      Lenovo Legion Y540

    • 15.6" FHD

    • GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB

    • Core i5-9300H

    • 8GB RAM

    • 512GB PCIe SSD

      MSI GF63

    • 15.6" Full HD matt

    • GeForce GTX1650 4GB

    • Core i5-9300H

    • 16GB RAM

    • 256GB PCIe SSD

    • (I am biased against this one since I think that MSI laptops tend to look very tacky)

I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer and I don't need to play the newest shooter on ultra-high settings with 60+ FPS, but I would like to catch up on a number of games from the last couple years that I haven't been able to play before, and would like those to run smoothly (though it doesn't have to be on the highest settings).

In particular I'd like to play:

    • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    • Fallout 4
    • XCOM 2
    • Metal Gear Solid 5 (and earlier games in the series)

Does this look achievable with the laptops I posted above? I tried to read up on reviews and benchmarks for the different graphics cards etc. but it's a bit difficult to ascertain for sure which one could do the job just fine vs. the absolute best one around. I was also wondering whether 8 GB of RAM would be enough - my current laptop has that and struggles, but maybe newer RAM technology makes it so that 8 GB is enough for the above games?

Thanks to anyone in advance who reads this and shares some thoughts or input.

Laptop for writing (smaller, comfortable) and WoW.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 09:13 PM PDT

I used to be a regular pc gamer, but after my last laptop died, I got out of the game. Now I make pretty good money at my job, and I'd like to get back into it. I don't want to spend a fortune. I really like the appearance and price points of Lenovo laptops, but I feel like they get a lot of bad reviews on the websites selling them. Anyone want to help a brother out in picking one that runs WoW steady, hopefully under a grand, and looks nice like a Lenovo?

**Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

It needs to have a touchscreen that I can draw on with a compatible pen

**Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.**

I do a lot of art as a side job and have used a cintiq companion (first model) for the past 5 years but now might be having to replace it. I am also considering a cintiq companion 2 or a mobile studio pro but I've always had problems with wacom's drivers and was hoping I could find something better, I've seen a lot of recommendations and good reviews for the Ipad Pro and Surface Pro in other places, but also some reviews from artists who say they don't make the cut as a work studio, are they truly the best or are there any others that can compare to a cintiq performance wise? I'll mostly be using it for professional digital drawing and would like something that will let me use photoshop/clip studio on the go.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hey /r/suggestalaptop, I need your help. Help me choose between the X1 Extreme Gen 2 and the Dell XPS 15 7590

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 10:47 PM PDT

So I'm currently stuck between the two new laptops and not sure what to land on. At the moment they are both similarly priced (30% off the X1 extreme G2 and 15% dell XPS 15). I should note as well although the models I'm looking at for the both laptops will be just the standard 4K as I don't think OLED is enough of a reason to sacrifice the extra battery life and the extra problems the OLED screens can have.

The main things I'm after is a laptop I'll be able to use for portability (so thin and not too heavy), decent battery life and have the specs to be able to handle video editing and occasionally play games (only LoL and other non heavy graphic games).

It's hard to make the choice at the moment because there are currently no reviews out for the X1 extreme gen 2 but the 30% sale only lasts until the 8th of August.

So I'm after your help, what do laptop do you think I should land on? Price really isn't a problem. I'm worried the x1 extremes battery life won't be very good and the 1650 max-q isn't as powerful as the dell XPS 1650. On the other hand I've heard dell XPS is throttling like crazy and making it unusable. Other than that I'll probably with 16gb ram and 500gb ssd and upgrade them both in the future. I've heard good things about dells 4K screen but never seen Lenovo's 4K screen.

    Here's a link to both laptops: https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/business-laptops-ultrabooks-and-tablets/new-xps-15/spd/xps-15-7590-laptop/wnx759006au

    Not important to me

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    N/A

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Mostly gaming (VR and not VR), but also for some college work

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Mostly things like GTA 5 at relatively high settings, Minecraft, X-Plane, CS:GO, and perhaps other similar games.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

At least 8GB RAM, VR ready laptop, 1TB HDD preferred

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion

Please let me know if my budget is too unrealistic, and any suggestions would be helpful!

    Thanks!

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Microsoft Office (some serious excel apparently) and Browsing
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
      • Quad-core CPU (Intel Core i7 U Series / Intel Core i5 or i7 G Series / AMD Ryzen Mobile 7
      • At least 8GB RAM
      • 256 GB SSD
      • 802.11 N/AC wireless adapter
      • HDMI output

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Just need something that'll get me through school and a bit past it. Wouldn't mind something nice refurbished. Let me know if you think my price is unrealistic for the expectations.

    MacBook or cash

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 09:08 PM PDT

My dad says he would give me the cash equivalent of a MacBook Pro or he'll take me to go buy it. I can't decide, because I have a laptop but it's definitely not going to last for my duration of school it's a acer computer. I'm going to be a freshman in the fall. Looking for some advice on which is the better choice?

(1000-1500 USD) (USA) Looking for Business laptop

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:28 PM PDT

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:**

$1000 to $1500 dollars - United States. Would rather keep in middle/low end of the price range because buying in bulk for company use

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.**

Good battery life, best specs for the money is fairly important - doing production level code with fairly intensive build processes, but doesn't have to be that good (not a workstation, etc.).

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?**

Very important (ik this is hard)

    * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.**

    Windows

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.**

    NA

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.**

Just code mainly - but may dabble in some video editing/photo editing.

    * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?**

    NA

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

Good keyboard, longevity would be a plus, but not entirely necessary. Touch screen is unnec.

    * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.**

Was looking between Huawei Matebook X Pro (seems best bang for buck), XPS 13 (I dislike this option personally with bad dell experiences), Asus Zenbook 13 or S (has no thunderbolt 3 which isn't great), and LG Gram, but open to any other options.

Looking for a good laptop for gaming and school

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:06 PM PDT

Total budget and country of purchase: Total budget of 800$ USA

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Out of the three I value battery most

How important is weight and thinness to you? Very important, I want a thin laptop that looks normal or sleek, not a wierd UFO looking thing

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'll be gaming and right now the main game is Destiny 2

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I would like to run normal settings with at least 60fps

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? It would be nice to have a finger-print reader

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. This is my first laptop so I really wanna make sure I make a good descision. I'll probably buy it with a big sale like black friday or something so with that in account you can maybe adjust price a bit over 800$. Remember this is also for school so it should look decent. If theres a choice I would prefer ssd over hdd unless theres both types.

HP Envy 13t vs Asus Zenbook 13 UX333fa

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 07:43 PM PDT

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:** $800 in the USA

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money?**

I prefer just a laptop, not a 2 in 1, battery life is a must

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** must be below 3 pounds

    * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 13 inches

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** no

    * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** no

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**

I'm using it for debate, so a good keyboard is a must

    * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.**

I need it for college and debate, so a SSD is a must and it must not weigh to much.

I was looking at the HP Envy 13t or the Asus Zenbook 13 UX333fa.
