Is the screen protector that comes with the OnePlus 7 Pro supposed to be taken off?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 02:24 AM PDT

My screen protector has bubbling issues and is worn out, so it's bugging me quite a bit - was I supposed to take it off when I got the phone? If so, where can I find an official screen protector for the OnePlus 7 Pro as a replacement?

What are the hardware differences between the Chinese and the Global versions of 7 Pro?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 06:18 PM PDT

There's almost a 100$ price difference between the two where I live, and I believe you can officially switch the ROM between the two. So is there a hardware downside to the different version? Like 4g bands or storage type or anything else? Thank you for your help.

    Chrome Compatibility Lost

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 03:27 AM PDT

As I'm sure you know, Google have stopped the OnePlus 7 Pro from using 90Hz on Google Chrome.

As a result, I am switching to Opera as they offer 90Hz and a built-in VPN.

I could, and have in the past, force 90Hz, but I don't want to support the Chrome app if they're going to ruin my customer experience over their phone.

After the OxygenOS 9.0.16 update for the Op6t I just wonder what games that take advantage of the new Fnatic mode.

Got the OP7 today and was surprised with USB-C headphones inside!

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 11:04 AM PDT

Is this a normal thing for recent OP7s? Or is it because of the store I got it from? (The French store Fnac for reference.)

Also, any tips for the phone?

ComplyFoam tips for OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 12:44 PM PDT

I've been wanting to buy some replacement tips for my Bullets because the silicon ones just won't stay in my ear. I've heard some good things about ComplyFoam's eartips, and I want to give them a try. I'm looking to buy the variety pack but I'm not sure which core size to buy. Also are the sizes of the ComplyFoam eartips for S/M/L about the same as the sizes for the eartips that came with the bullets?

    7 Pro or Samsung S10+

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 08:51 AM PDT

I current have a OnePlus 5. I'm due for a new phone and I've narrowed it down to the 7Pro or S10+. I'm leaning toward the 7Pro but the S10+ does have some nice features. All of our cars have wireless charging so it would be nice to have a phone that has that. What are some of the things that I'd really miss from the 7Pro if I went with the S10+? I know this is a slightly biased audience but I figured I'd see what people thought.

First impressions from a long-time Samsung user, and first time OnePlus owner, after using the 7 Pro for two weeks.

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 07:17 PM PDT

    TLDR

TLDR: Absolutely 100% ecstatic that I switched from Samsung to a OnePlus 7 Pro 12GB/256GB. Loving the screen, radio strength, and battery life.

    A Little History

Back in the day when I finally started using Android phones, I was typically staying with Motorola devices as they were always top quality, and had the best, strongest radios in the industry. As Motorola has had a reputation for for decades. Then the Note devices came out. I skipped the Note 1 because it was actually too big (too wide) and the first run of a product always has issues.

So I started my Samsung experience with the Note 2 because I wanted a large display, and they were the largest available. I then continued on with the Note 3 and Note 4 from there. When the Note 4 came out, it was locked down (bootloader, etc., but not anymore) unlike previous iterations. Due to the Note 4 being locked down, I decided to go with a Google Nexus 6, which was the largest phone in the world at the time (if I recall). And while it is a huge, gorgeous device, the hardware is definitely lacking.

With the Nexus 6, I skipped the eventual (and long-waited) development of the Note 4, and I also skipped the Note 5 as well. Then I upgraded to the Note 7 as it was a huge leap in technology compared to previous devices. I suffered through not one but two Note 7 recalls, and decided to get a Note 5 since it had finally been unlocked and had development. I used that until the Note 8 came out.

The Note 8 is a fine device. But Samsung has so much bloat and things constantly running in the background, which use a lot of the 6 GB of RAM, and ultimately battery as well.

The main reasons for looking elsewhere from Samsung are the mediocre battery life, and the (in my opinion) horrible signal strength. It's very noticeable from every previous Samsung phone compared to the Motorola phones of past, that Samsung phones have a lower signal quality.

Now I'm not sure if manufacturers have any control in the firmware or not with radio strength. I'm aware there are regulations that specify how strong the signal can or cannot be. And I think Samsung may keep it on the low end if they have any adjustment over the strength.

    First Impressions

However!!! I'm enjoying the much better and stronger signal strength of my 7 Pro! Not only is the cell signal stronger and gives me better signal in places where I had low or none, but WiFi signal is much stronger as well! I also love how incredibly fast the switch between WiFi and cellular is (and vice versa). Everything on this phone is just fast.

I'm also enjoying the stellar battery performance thus far. As well as the edge to edge to edge 90 Hz screen! And then there's the open development that I've missed for so long.

I've been hearing about (and keeping an eye on) OnePlus for the past few years with their top hardware specs, and low prices. And even with the 7 Pro 12/256 being $750, that's still exactly $300 less than what I payed for my Note 8 brand new at release! And now I have a huge upgrade with the 7 Pro for $300 less (even more once I sell my Note 8).

    Conclusion

I'm very happy that I decided to give OnePlus a try. The 7 Pro is extremely fast, and gorgeous to hold and look at. I'm a fan of clear cases, and love the clear case included with the phone (which I didn't even know about for the first week lol).

Everything about this phone so far has made me a happy camper, with just about everything that I want in a phone.

Of course, though, I would love to have had the Huawei fold-able phone, because who doesn't want a huge tablet that fits in their pocket? But unfortunately those are banned in the U.S. currently. And Samsung's version was absolute, disappointing garbage, in my opinion.

Until then, OnePlus will tide me over until the right fold-able phone is able to be released.

Thank you, OnePlus, for making such an amazing device (7 Pro), at an affordable price bracket.

Zooming in the gallery needs to be fixed, as well as OxygenOS

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 03:17 PM PDT

The latest update to OxygenOS's Gallery app seems to have dramatically lowered the zoom sensitivity. Now, it takes at least three swipes (regardless of whether you're pinching or double-tap dragging) to fully zoom in on an image. More if the image is particularly large.

This to me defeats the entire purpose of the gestures in the first place if they only make the interface more cumbersome to use.

Sadly, this seems to have been a trend in OxygenOS for the last year. Every update somehow manages to worsen the in-house apps (which is also reflected in their reviews on the Play Store). I originally stuck with OOS over LineageOS because it brought to the table a lot of neat customisations that weren't to be found in AOSP, and because I found their in-house apps to be reasonably well polished (but no longer functional).

If OnePlus aren't willing to work on issues that matter, and would rather add useless things like a "hidden apps drawer", please at least open source basic apps like the gallery so we can fix it ourselves for god's sake.

    Broken screen OnePlus 5

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 07:01 PM PDT

At start of year I broke my OP5 after a good 2 years run. Then instead of fixing I used Nokia 7 plus, didn't like performance on it; so got a new Samsung note 9 but due to its curved screen cannot get a proper screen protector. Hence switching back to 7 plus along with other reasons. But I absolutely loved OnePlus 5 as it had headphone jack and everything perfect. Would you recommend getting a screen replacement, locally or by official, or better to buy a new OnePlus 5 if available? I am in Netherlands, thanks for reading.

Cellular data keeps "disconnecting" on new OnePlus 7?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 02:54 PM PDT

I don't know if this has been happening since I got the phone because I've used WiFi alot but I only noticed it recently. When I use cellular data it sometimes stops working for a couple of minutes and then starts working again. Restarting the phone hasn't solved the problem and turning on airplane mode doesn't seem to help temporarily either. I've tried playing around with APN settings but to no avail. I'm using Swedish network provider Telenor if that makes a difference. However my family also uses this provider and they don't seem to have to same issues. Also didn't have this problem with my previous phone Samsung Galaxy S8. Does anybody have any ideas to how I might solve this? Thanks in advance

OP7 HDMI out working on latest update?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 12:08 PM PDT

Can anyone confirm HDMI out still works with latest OOS?

I'm on 9.5.8 on non pro OP7, but would like to know about the Pro too.

(Yes, OP7 and OP7Pro can both do HDMI out. Mine used to work, but not anymore. Trying to see if dongle went bad or software).

6t suddenly stopped recognizing my headphones

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 02:00 PM PDT

Have been using these headphones since I bought my phone last year, worked great. They broke, I got a replacement set two weeks ago that was working fine until yesterday, when midway through the day my phone just stopped recognizing that my headphones were plugged in.

The headphones are not broken--it's an issue with my phone. Sound is playing from my phone's main speaker when I try to listen to anything through my headphones.

Phone is charging fine. Bluetooth headphones connect and work fine. Have restarted multiple times; no change.

    Any tips?

OnePlus 6 cannot get registered to a network

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 03:22 AM PDT

    Hi Reddit,

    This is weird as hell.

I got an update from OnePlus, after the update i have stopped getting network. Tried all the basic troubleshooting and also a lil advance troubleshooting. But i am stuck

Here's what happened that can explain the issue and what i have tried already:

    1. when searched manually > error while registering on network
    2. flashed previous version of stock ROMs still the same issue.
    3. flashed google pixel experience ROM > same issue
    4. sim card is detected just that i cannot register it to a network.

i have already performed all the basic steps, changing sims, using another phone, blah blah. . .

The issue is typically on this device. I went to the OP showroom here, they said, there is water damage, which i am sure is incorrect, everything was working fine and after the update i stopped receiving signal.

I tried engineering mode and crashed the modem, but no help :(

    *#*#3646 shows radio off

Any suggestions? Is there anyone who can guide me in right direction?

    3T gradual bricking over ~week

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 07:39 AM PDT

My 3T is failing in a strange way. One day, it started occasionally not showing anything on the screen, but still seems to be running. If I touch the fingerprint sensor it vibrates. It rings when I receive calls, and my alarms go off.

This started happening a couple times in one day, but gradually increased over approx. one week. Now it is like this all the time, but occasionally it will come back to life for a few minutes. In those minutes, the graphics seem slow, and sometimes freeze and display a fine pink diagonal line pattern - but it's still running.

Is my GPU dying? Never heard of phones failing like this before.

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 04:18 PM PDT

Certain Apps don't show up in the Notch-Settings. Including Twitch, YouTube, Kindle.

YouTube Fullscreen still works with the notch for some reason, even though it doesn't show up in the menu.

I have tried reinstalling, did not change anything.

    OnePlus 7 Mic issue

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 11:27 AM PDT

I have been using OnePlus 7 for the last couple of months now. However for the past couple of weeks I've my voice while on call is too low for the other person to hear when I use a headset but is perfectly fine without a headset. Also calling via WhatsApp does not have this issue, it's only with the inbuilt phone app. Can any one suggest a solution?

Has anyone had to deal with an Investigation?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 07:10 AM PDT

The phone I ordered has most likely been lost in the mail, and FedEx is basically ghosting me. I spoke with chat support several times, and two of them said they would reship if I waited another day, but the one I got today said he had to launch an investigation first, which could take five days.
