Difference between HPs processors? Pentium Gold Vs i3 Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:46 AM PDT Not tech savvy whatsoever so bare with... I've found a laptop that seems to fit what I need for uni work (basic 70% Word/ 30% Google). The laptop comes in 2 styles but and all other specs look identical bar the processors and price. One has Pentium Gold and the other i3. Differerence in price is ~£90. Considering the laptop will mainly be used writing assignments will I notice the difference from one to the other?. Is it worth paying the extra £90? [link] [comments]

Advice for running Adobe Creative Suite in tandem Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:38 AM PDT Hello! I hope someone can help me. I need a new laptop and I'm not sure what my minimum requirements should be. I need something that can run Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro at the same time without lagging too much. Id like to be spending less than $1000. Edit: No Apples [link] [comments]
Looking to buy laptop for video editing. 1k budget. Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:19 AM PDT I've got a budget of 1000$ CAD. I'm looking for the best laptop to edit videos on. I plan to upgrade the RAM from 8GB TO 16GB. So far, these are the two best deals I've found: Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 HP - Omen What should I go with? Any feedback or advice will be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]

Downgrade bios MSI GS65 Stealth 8SF Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:01 AM PDT Hey guys, I just bought a GS65 Stealth 8SF the one with the RTX2070 and 32gb of ram. After the first start I checked the temperatures and with XTU under stress test the cpu reached 85c/86c and under benchmark 90c so there was thermal throttling. I done undervolt -150v but the temperatures were the same so I updated the bios at the last version on the msi website but now it reaches 96c and I think it's too hot. What I can do? I wouldn't change the termal past, is there a way to have the old bios? I did not save it [link] [comments]
Help me choose a laptop for Uni Posted: 25 Aug 2019 10:50 AM PDT So I'm starting uni within the next month and I haven't owned a laptop for the past 6 years so I'm not really sure what the best models are in the current age. Can you guys recommend me some products. I have a budget of around 1k. I've had a brief look and have stumbled upon the Huawei MateBook 13 and possibly some Macbook models for around the same price but advice would very much be appreciated [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:54 AM PDT A friend has just bought a new laptop and he got a bigger SSD to go inside it, I said I'd give him a hand fitting it. So I put the new one in, gave it a clean install of Windows but now when it boots it gets stuck on the Asus boot screen, can't enter BIOS or anything. The laptop still works totally fine if I put the old SSD back in. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:53 AM PDT I've been searching around the internet for a long time but still haven't found a decent laptop that fits the specs that I am looking for. I'm looking for a portable laptop (<= 4 pounds), with a decent graphics card (mx150 to gtx 1050 ti) with a thunderbolt 3 port and a decent battery life (7+ hours). However all the laptops which I found lack things in some way. The Matebook seemed like a good option but I've read it has bad thermals and I don't really want to get a Huawei after this whole China and US thing going on. The razer blade 13 seemed like a great option but most reviews said the battery life was around 5 hours at most, which is too short for me. The dell XPS 15 9570 was my go to laptop at first (even though it is slightly heavier than 4 pounds) but then I realized it has extremely terrible thermals and throttling. (Quick Question: will a simple undervolt fix the thermal issue?) I also looked at the Hp spectre x360 15 with the mx150, but it is way to heavy (nearly 5 pounds). The Lenovo yoga 730 seemed like a good decision, but after discovering a bust of reviews stating it has many problems such as a flickering display, high thermals and heavy throttling, I stopped looking at it. Currently my preferred choice is the MSI PS63 however it does not have a thunderbolt 3 port and many reviews says the screen is dim. If owners of these laptops have any insight or information about them and their known problems please feel free to comment. Also suggestions for laptops for me to look into would be greatly appreciated, Thank You! [link] [comments]

Is the Asus Zenbook 13 UX331 still a good laptop? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 07:59 AM PDT I'm thinking of buying the Asus Zenbook 13 UX331FN, but I'm wondering if it's still a good laptop considering it's not the latest model? They've released the UX333FN since then, but I'm not sure what's new other than the design and touch pad. The computer will be used for general web browsing, watching movies, and maybe playing some simple games. It being light and silent is important to me. UX331FN specifications:
It costs around €930 (≈ $1040), while the new model (UX333) costs around €1300 (≈ $1455) for the pretty much the same specifications. The laptop I'm looking at: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ASUS-ZenBook-13-UX331FN/ The new model: https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ASUS-ZenBook-13-UX333FN/ [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Aug 2019 07:19 AM PDT I have a laptop that supports USB C Charging and when I knew that I was amazed since it wasn't very expensive. My phone uses USB c to charge and data and that other advantage. So I decided to buy a 45 watt USB c charger for both my computer and my phone. It has been working good for the last weeks but I don't if there is a risk. My phone used a 15 w propietary charger and my laptop a 65 watt proprietary charger. I don't know much about energy but I need to know if there's is a risk of a permanent battery damage for my devices. [link] [comments]

Powerspec 1710 (7700hq + 1070) or MSI GS65 (9750h + 1660 TI) Posted: 25 Aug 2019 02:51 AM PDT I'm trying to decide between a Powerspec or an MSI for school and occasional gaming. I'm hoping to keep the laptop for about 4-5 years and was wondering which would be a better purchase for "future proofing". (The price for each laptop is $950 for the Clevo and $1300 for the MSI) [link] [comments]
