I use an S8 for work, so I'm familiar with Android OS. To be clear, my GF and I want to make the switch because our various Apple products are failing on us left and right. We're tired of high prices and subpar quality. I've replaced my iPhone X twice because it continues to heat up to where it can't be held until it cools down. We've already integrated Google Home in the bedrooms, which we like. She uses a chrome book every single day and is a teacher, so the Note 10+ is enticing her. So, I did some research on the Note 10+ and the camera is what's really appealing to me. I'm a photography hobbiest, and sometimes I can't bring my gear with me. The camera on this phone looks promising for pictures and video. I also game a lot on my phone, so the RAM boost and display are appealing to me. Now, I've heard some rumblings from the Apple community that the Play Store can potentially contain viruses and that the picture and video quality gets reduced to garbage when texting them. Is this true? I only text and call from my work phone (S8) because my company watches it like a hawk, so I can't try sending anything over MMS or downloading apps. My other concern is the picture/video quality when uploading to Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, etc. with the iPhone, I don't worry about quality because it looks the same from the moment I take it to the moment I upload it. I inherited a Galaxy Note 4 that has a bunch of Verizon bloatware on it. I managed to downgrade it from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 and rooted it. Now I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a decent alternative firmware that doesn't have any Verizon branding/bloatware on it? I don't mind if it's just 'stock' Android apart from not having the Verizon branding etc...? I don't plan to use it as a phone, just for apps around the home etc. but I have a British (GSM) SIM card that connects to AT&T here in the USA if that matters at all... [link] [comments]  |

| Question about replacement battery Posted: 10 Aug 2019 08:38 PM PDT So I bought a moto z 2016 around 8 months ago and it was probably sitting in the storage house for 2 years before I bought it, during that time I guess the phone was slowly using battery and I think it's quality has detiorated, now the question is, if I buy a replacement battery it was probably produced 2 years ago, will it still be in pristine condition or will it be the same as my current battery that hasn't seen long usage but it's already old because it was made 2 years ago? Posted: 10 Aug 2019 07:18 AM PDT I turned on flight mode immediately after accidentally deleting the wrong file*, so I expect the file can still be restored.The file is in Phone Storage, not on the SD card. Recuva can't find phones (Android disabled USB Mass Storage as of Android 4.4.2). EaseUS requires rooting. They have a version which doesn't require rooting, but it needs to be installed on the phone, and that might overwrite the file I'm trying to restore. Do any other options work in 2019 (on Android 9, "Pie") With Android Pie, Samsung introduced "Trash" to its Gallery app - like the recycle bin on Windows. Alas, I deleted the file via Windows Explorer (while connected to laptop), not while using Gallery, so the file is not in the Trash bin. * (a 392 MB video - recorded by me. I thought Google Photos was backing up videos, but because I was saving recordings to SD card, Google Photos did not backup the files.) [link] [comments]  |

| Fingerprint sensor not working (Android 9, Ressurection Remix 7.0.1, Samsung Galaxy S6) Posted: 10 Aug 2019 03:30 AM PDT Yeah I know this is a recurrent topic but I seriously need help. A while ago I changed from my stock rom to LineageOS 16 (unofficial) for my Samsung S6 (zerofltexx) without deleting my security settings (fingerprint...) as recommanded. Everything was fine, my fingerprint worked perfectly. Then I started to have strange bugs that forced my phone to a black screen (force crash and reboot all the time). It was getting more and more intrusive, and I got to the point I cannot even start my phone. I changed for a new rom, wich is my current one : Resurrection Remix. I got the same problem at the beginning. NOTICE that I made the mistake (again) of not removing my old security settings (What a dumb ass I am). This is where it gets interesting. If I disable my fingerprint, I got almost no problem (sometimes it crashes but it's so rare I dont even try to solve this). I dont know why but it solved everything. Since 4 month I used a scheme and not my fingerprint. But come on this is so usefull I cant give up so easily. So I tried to use my fingerprint again. Guess what ? It didnt even detect my finger. My phone KNOW I have a sensor but my finger isnt detected. I tried to delete I dont want to reinstall my rom (even if I have a full backup) so do you guys have any idea ? Full specs :

Posted: 10 Aug 2019 06:12 PM PDT Recently I returned a Samsung tablet(Android 9-Pie) and right after returning it I just realized that I forgot to logoff my Google account prior to a factory reset. To my best knowledge, in this case the device will be locked due to factory reset protection(FRP) since I didn't remove the account ahead of time. However, I found something saying I can just remove/revoke the account access for the device under my Goolge account online. | [Help] Iconzy icon resource not loading Posted: 10 Aug 2019 09:12 AM PDT Hey all, I was recently told that I can get around an OS issue where I can't search for icons in the icon edit menu by using the Iconzy app. I downloaded the app, searched and saved some icons, then tried to edit one of my icons by using the Iconzy "pack". Unfortunately, I keep getting this error saying the OS couldn't load the icon resource pack. I have tried the following:
