Galaxy note 9 camera crack... boned?

Not sure when or how it happened. Phone lives in a case. Camera front glass plate cracked.. pretty good too. The first time we loaded the camera, the screen had a bunch of green dash lines all over (like a gpu artifacting)but reloaded and everything seems to operate ok.. but I obviously want to get this fixed. I'm sure it knocks its waterproofing down a peg or two. Is this something that's easily doable DIY? Maybe a phone fixit places yoynsee st the mall? How much should I pay for something like this? Money is tight right now, first time parents, would rather not get ripped off...

Any help (links, advice, ideas, etc) would be greatly appriciated!

Ran exe of what I thought was a music plugin. Turned out to be bad trojans and lead to accounts being compromised. Need advice.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2019 07:06 AM PDT

On Saturday I downloaded what I thought was a music plugin that turned out to be some really nasty malware that changed my DNS, disabled access to certain sites, etc.

I eventually got Malwarebytes on, ran it a number of times until I had no more detections and I went out for the weekend. Having been generally cautious my whole life I know I fucked up here running the exe however what I didn't think was that the software had enough time to grab my logins for websites. I assumed saving them via Chrome and Brave browser would be fine but I guess the script was still able to get that information.

So I woke up yesterday morning to a number of charges on my paypal account and an attempted login to one of my Gmail accounts. I since removed a couple of connected apps and an email forwarder that the hacker connected and changed passwords on everything. I also contacted Paypal and was able to remove most of the charges except one to Ralph Lauren for like $280. They bought a tshirt or something that was sent to my house + a $250 gift card which was auto-forwarded to an email account they had setup.

I also got a voicemail from an unknown number telling me to call a number to discuss a charge. They didn't state what company they were from and it sounded fishy.

My question is, what should I do next? I feel like the hacker was able to get all of my information and I feel like this might not be the end of it.

Also, I can't seem to access any website using PIA VPN which worries me that I still might be infected. I just re-installed Windows but kept my apps and am still having the issue. Currently going through the steps listed in the Malware guide as well.

    Thanks in advance.

The performance of my computer has dropped considerably

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 03:28 AM PDT

I got my current laptop (HP OMEN 15-ax201no) almost two years ago. It has been a great computer for my use but lately it has started to lag and shit. Also the mouse play tricks from time to time. How could I improve the performance? Do I need to open it up and clean the dust or something? All help will be appreciated.

Video - Audio stutter followed by reboot

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:43 AM PDT

    CPU: i7 2600k

    MB: GA-P67A-UD3-B3

    RAM: 8GB (2x2+4)

    GPU: GB 1060

    PSU: Corsair CX600

W10 with every driver updated as of last night. Everything running at stock speeds, voltages, etc.

I have two monitors connected 1 via HDMI and 1 via DP which is also outputting sound. The problem starts when I'm watching video on one screen and playing something on the other. Sound starts stuttering until it cuts out completely and at the same time I get graphic stuttering both on the video and game. This goes on for a variable amount of time (from seconds up to a whole minute) and then the system just reboots itself.

Event viewer has nothing. There are no crash logs of any kind.

Temperatures are in the low 40s when things are running.

Ram seems fine after running multiple different tests. I've also checked VRam with an utility and got 0 errors.

I suspected faulty video output ports but switching things around did nothing.

I was able to replicate the problem a few times by repeating the video+game scenario and only once by simultaneously running furmark and a CPU stress test. Running either test separately doesn't do it.

This is a pretty old build but things ran smoothly up until recently.

My best guess is the PSU (which I've had since the beginning) just dies when the system starts drawing a larger amount of power but I'm not 100% sure since I can't reliably replicate it.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.Ty.

Rebuilt PC does not recognize keyboard presses on motherboard startup screen

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:40 AM PDT

    Short version:

I put a new motherboard with a new CPU into my existing PC. When I try to boot it, I get stuck on the initial motherboard screen. On my monitor, I only see the "ASROCK" logo and "Press F11 to…". But no button press on my keyboard is detected. I can't enter the BIOS. The keyboard gets power because all buttons are illuminated. I tried two different keyboards on all USB ports on the motherboard and even an old PS/2 keyboard connected to the PS/2 port. Nothing works. I also tried to unplug the motherboard battery to reset the BIOS. I am stuck.

    My system specs:

CPU Intel Core i5-9600K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler Noctua NH-L12 37.79 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard ASRock Z390M-ITX/ac Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
    Memory Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Power Supply Corsair CX 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified Non-modular ATX Power Supply

    PCPartPicker Part List: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/GcLNXP

    More information:

I had my custom build gaming pc for over four years and it ran perfectly.

A few weeks ago, my old motherboard died. A tiny resistor or chip or something like that broke and smelled burnt. My PC would not turn on anymore. I took that chance to buy a new motherboard and also upgrade from an Intel i5 6600k to a 9600k. But now I can't boot like described above. Only the bare essentials are connected for my tests (PSU, motherboard, CPU, one RAM stick, monitor and keyboard).

Unplugging the motherboard battery did not help.

    My last ideas are:

    • I got a defective motherboard (but that would be weird because all ports give power, I see an image when I turn the PC on, the CPU fans are spinning,...)
    • I got a defective CPU (But then either the motherboard would beep an error code or I still could access the BIOS, right?)
    • My PSU is broken (but everything receives power…)
    • My RAM is broken (I tried booting without the RAM stick installed and the motherboard beeped the error code for RAM error. But no beeps when the RAM is plugged in)

Thank you all for trying to help me!

My laptop screen is flickering I'm going insane!

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:38 AM PDT

Helloooo for the past few weeks I've been trying to find out why my laptop screen started flickering (The whole screen just "shakes" randomly all the time, like every other second and there's lines that appear for milliseconds every few seconds).

I was told the drivers are the problem and whatnot. I was on windows 10, I sanitized my drive and booted my laptop with linux (Ubuntu desktop) and the problem went away for a few minutes but restarted again!! So I know it's the screen that has a problem!

I'm on a budget so if anyone can give me advice on how to fix it myself (Refer to a youtube video or whatnot) I'll buy the tools to open up my laptop and do it myself.

    Thank you so much!

Lower GPU temps? (85 degrees and crashing programs)

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:19 AM PDT

I recently had a lot of issues with cooling on my PC, especially the CPU hitting 100 degrees. I got a noctua D15 cooler and that fixed the CPU issues, but my GPU is still hitting 85 degrees and sometimes thermal throttling. I also have stock case fans (2 in, 1 out) and with the D15 the case is slightly open along the top right edge. Should I just get new case fans? My CPU temps fell by like 30, I'd love to get similar results that mean I never have to worry about GPU or other temps ever again.

I'm mostly doing VR with the PC.

    MSI BIOS Trouble

    Posted: 06 Aug 2019 11:05 PM PDT

    https://imgur.com/a/BuCzqKW

I've been trying to update my BIOS for a few days. My computer is a prebuilt MSI Trident 3. With the help of my brother, I upgraded my HDD to an SSD, but I can only guess that while we were transferring the drives, the BIOS went backwards? I'm not a tech guy, but the USB ports worked (when USB devices are plugged in during boot, they work; when they're unplugged and plugged in again, they receive power, but don't transfer information) when I had my HDD. There's no option to update it. I went to download the BIOS files for my system on their website, tried to do the things, and failed. I'm having trouble. Even if this doesn't fix my USB problem, it should fix my other problem: restarting and shutting down trouble. Guys, I just want any answers that can help. This is the conclusion I've come to: updating the BIOS. But I can't, since MSI click BIOS 5 doesn't have it? It obviously has it on other people's computers, I don't know why I don't have it on mine. I'm in a ditch, and I'm reaching out. Help.

Damaged Motherboard (Curious if still works)

    Posted: 06 Aug 2019 06:15 PM PDT

So I received a motherboard from a friend, due to some problems and him not needing it anymore or whatever. There seems to be a bit of damage to the motherboard (probably during shipping) and I can't return it (because I did not buy it) and there is no warranty. Just curious of there is going to be any problem based on where it is.

So, why ask here instead of just shoving a cpu in? I don't have one. I only currently have an H1154 CPU. This motherboard is an upgrade but I want to make sure it'd work before I bite the bullet on a new H1151 CPU.

Very bottom right corner (near the front IO header) and doesn't seem to go over an wire lines in the board (or whatever the hell they're called).

    https://imgur.com/a/GGKGwFP

Really just want a rough estimate whether it should work or not. I understand you can't really say for sure, as it kinda depends on how deep the damage is on the inside, but any rough estimate is appreciated!

PS crashes every minute when a file is open

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 03:43 AM PDT

Otherwise if i'm just idling on the start menu, it wouldn't crash at all. It was totally fine yesterday, then I took maybe 60 screenshots. I uploaded those and a bunch of other things to cloud to free up space after it started crashing, and went from 21 to 27.5 G of free space left. still crashes only when I open a PS file. I tried increasing ram, but PS wasn't lagging at all before this happened, so I doubt that is the solution. I updated my windows too, still doesn't work. Between then and now, the onlythings I've downloaded were the 60 screenshots and a Bob ross chrome theme from theme beta. My photoshop is 2017 patched, and I run Windows 10 on a Razer Blade stealth 12.5 with 8GB ram and 100 GB storage.

Headset flips channels at random times

    Posted: 06 Aug 2019 11:55 PM PDT

Trying to search for any solution or anything, but I have no clue what they are even called. Any help, thanks. Image

Lag on 3840 x 2160 League of Legends

    Posted: 06 Aug 2019 11:44 PM PDT

I got a new 4k monitor along with my old monitor that I now use as my second display and when I put league of legends resolution on 3840 x 2160 (on the 4k monitor) I get 30 FPS - my PC specs:

    Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz

    Installed RAM: 16GB

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

    System Type: 64-bit operating system

I think my storage is well about 2TB and it's nowhere near full.

I've tried turning the display settings down which didn't change anything and if I go on my GeForce experience app; it recommends I run Very High graphics settings and on 3840 x 2160 in League of Legends for my PC so I don't understand why I am getting 30 FPS even on Low graphics settings when I change to 3840 x 2160. Any help would be very appreciated, thanks in advance.

Moving SSD and HDD caused everything to be deleted (but they're still there??)

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 03:24 AM PDT

I sent my PC (that I built poorly last year) to a shop to move its components to another case and get some cable management done. I have an SSD and a HDD already installed on my PC and everything was working fine before I sent my PC to the shop. My SSD was running out of space so I bought a new one with more space and I asked them to install it for me while moving cases. Today I got my PC back and the worker told me that windows crashed while he was booting up the PC to update the drivers (I went to the shop to put my password) and when I put my password I saw that all the icons for the games I had from steam were blank (like there was a missing file or something) and I've come to realize that the steam application was not there nor any other application I installed before. What confused me was that the old SSD I was using and the HDD had files taking up space. What I mean by that was that there were missing files and applications but the SSD and HDD still saved it somewhere. I want to know, how do I retrieve the data back?
