Finally found the perfect laptop! Razer Blade Posted: 25 Aug 2019 12:25 AM PDT I changed 3 different laptops over the course of a month. Initially I started off with the HP OMEN i7 9th gen with a 1660ti and 16gb ram. I enjoyed it, but not until in a classroom environment. By all means it was the perfect laptop. For the price that was paid, it couldn't go wrong but for a classroom/office laptop it is too loud. Among every hp omen model there have been loud fan issues. I went and got a Mac book pro for the first time, enjoyed it for the week I had it. Loved the Touch Bar functionality and the sleek and light design but being a windows user my whole life and knowing I paid a hefty amount for not even top notch specs It didn't feel too good. I got the i7 9th gen MacBook Pro. Eventually returned my MacBook pro to Best Buy and purchased a razer blade 15, i7 9th gen with 2060. Its sleek and is similar in weight to the MacBook Pro. I enjoy it a lot and I plan on upgrading it from 516gb to 1tb and 16gb ram to 32gb. The razer blade is an easy upgrade laptop. Sorry for the layout, I'm on mobile. [link] [comments] |

Looking for a discreet gaming/general use laptop (1000- 1700 USD) Posted: 24 Aug 2019 11:33 PM PDT Hello guys, my first post here. After having a Dell Laptop for 6 years, I would like to get a new laptop. I would like to have a good performance laptop for playing games, but also for general use. So it shouldn't be the typical heavy gamer laptop, that does scream gamer. Here are the requierments:
EU, but I am also fine to order the laptop online in the US
Dont want a 2 in 1 device, best specifications for the money
Something not too heavy and not to thick.
Windows
Not too big, not too small
Laptop is mainly for gaming and general use
No specific games in mind, just want to be able to play new games on good settings
A nice design would be good, a laptop that doesn't scream gamer PC [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Aug 2019 06:32 PM PDT I always see people saying the XPS line is the best laptop. A XPS 15 priced at $1011.99 will get you i5 9th gen, 8gb RAM, and 256gb SSD. Not very impressive for something at that price point. For an even cheaper price, you could get something like an hp Spectre with i7 8th gen (which is still better than the i5) , 16 GB ram, and more SSD. Some other laptops could switch for a Nvidia gpu in expense for some SSD sizes. I know the infinity edge is nice, but it's not +300 worth more... And the build quality and battery are just decent. Any explanations? [link] [comments] |

Budget laptop for office work and *maybe* a bit of gaming. Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:37 AM PDT A friend asked me for recommendations, but laptops aren't my strenght. What she asked for: Something for normal office work that can run some games, isn't slow, with numeric keypad, and as lightweight as possible
$500
Best specs.
Weight matters.
Probably Windows since that's what she's used to, but if there's a considerably better Linux option with something friendly for a Windows user (Mint with Cinnamon or similar), I think I could convince her to get that.
Her current one is 15,6'', so anything at that size or better will do.
She asked for something that "can run some games". That said, I feel like it's too much to ask for for this budget and I can explain her that if the only decent options are things with the usual UHD 620.
She mostly plays Diablo II and older stuff that can run on integrated graphics. I think she wanted to try Path of Exile, tho, which would probably require at least a low end dedicated card.
Numeric keypad.
She's replacing her old one because it's slow, so something that allows for a natural workflow without constant freezing and lag is a must. She will use external and cloud storage, so disk capacity doesn't matter. Having an SSD for the OS would be a nice plus. This is what I've liked the best so far. Thank you in advance. ThinkPad L380 or Surface Laptop 2 for coding? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:36 AM PDT I'm looking for a laptop to use exclusively for coding and related school work. I don't need much as far as specs go, and my biggest selling point will be the keyboard and screen. In theory I've narrowed the search down to two contenders, but I have no hands on experience with either model. I was hoping that some of you might have that experience and be willing to give me some opinions. The two laptops I'm looking at are the Lenovo ThinkPad L380 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2. As far as I can tell these laptops are almost identical from a specs perspective. I know they'll both cut it from a performance standpoint, but I'm not really sure which feels and looks better. If I had the ability to get my hands on either model I would, unfortunately I do not have that luxury. I have heard time and time again that ThinkPad's have some of the best, if not the best, keyboards on the market. The choice seemed easy until I watched a few reviews for the Surface Laptop 2 in which it was also heralded as having the best keyboard currently on the market. My gut tells me that the Surface has a better display, but I could be wrong. The Yoga feature of the ThinkPad doesn't matter to me. Does anyone have any personal experience with either of these laptops? Anyone had the chance to use both maybe? Just looking for some opinions. [link] [comments] |

Would this Razer Blade be okay for graphic design/photo and video editing? Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:04 AM PDT 13.3" Razer Blade Stealth, Black, UHD+, IGZO, i7 8550U, 16GB LPDDR3, 256GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620, TB3, Win10 It seem good to me, but to be honest I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm looking to possibly start a career in digital design so I need a laptop that can handle that sort of work. [link] [comments] |
Laptop for everyday use + light gaming: ~1200 euros Posted: 25 Aug 2019 02:46 AM PDT
I am a Java Programmer so I might need to use Eclipse or Virtual Machines. I might want to dabble in Game Development (mostly Unity) in the future. I won't play games too often on the laptop anymore (planning on getting the new Stadia). I'd like to be able to use Android Emulator (Bluestacks) and maybe play MMOs like WoW or FF14 now and then.

Low noise laptop with a good display Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:42 AM PDT I need a new laptop for school and maybe light photo editing. My priorities are a good display and graphics and no noise ( fan isn't on if I only use 1 or 2 tabs on the browser or when idle and fan doesn't get so loud that I still hear it when watching Netflix on max volume) I have made bad experiences with hp laptops (Pavilion) so I want to avoid that in the future. Max budget is 1000€, country: germany, ram: at least 8GB, Nvidia graphic card would be nice but not a must since I know they can get noisy, os: windows or Linux, size : 13-15 inch [link] [comments] |

Need help replacing broken 1 year old dead surface pro 5. $1500 (cad) max Posted: 24 Aug 2019 09:41 PM PDT
$1500 Canadian ( less would be nice but want something that doesn't suck)
Minimal bezels are ideal, but I also want something decent. i7 is nice but will settle for i5 if needed be
Ultrabook is more in line with what I'm looking for. I don't want a 10 pound laptop.
Windows
13+
Gaming would be nice, however I am realistic and don't expect too much
Not necessarily applicable
I want something that isn't going to self destruct on me. I spent 1500ish on a surface and after warranty expired it died. Trying to avoid that happen again lol
Looking at matebook, new Dell XPS 13, new Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 ( honestly, its what I want, but the price to spec ratio is pushing it) and Asus zenbook (trackpad with the screen seems nice but I fear it is another failure point lol) I'm not set on any brand, I just want something that looks nice with minimal bezel and doesn't crap out on me. Help narrowing down ultrabooks Posted: 24 Aug 2019 07:42 PM PDT Heya, I made a post a bit back about laptops I was interested in. I've done a lot of research and narrowed it down to six. I'm going to check them out in person soon but I'd still like some feedback from y'all to really push me in one direction or the other. For context I'm looking at ultrabooks that are light and can handle many applications/games such as Minecraft servers. I also really want a laptop with high nits of brightness or generally one that I can use in sunny environments. Also I don't really want to spend more than $1300 but if for some reason I should I'll think about it. Also I really don't know what to think about the ergolift thing a lot of these laptops are flexing, I guess I'll have to see how they work out in real life. Laptop #1: Dell XPS 13 Pros: Great quality, bright display, thunderbolt 3 for potential eGPU, great looking. Cons: doesn't have a discrete graphics card, bit of a turn off. Laptop #2: Asus Zenbook S13 Pros: Good design, light, actual graphics card, bright display. Cons: Lacks thunderbolt 3, is honestly really expensive Laptop #3: Asus Zenbook 14 Pros: good performance, good build quality, good value. Cons: No thunderbolt 3, screen not the brightest Laptop #4: HP Envy 13t Pros: Excellent value, decent quality Cons: Display could be better, no thunderbolt 3 Laptop #5: MSI Prestige PS42 Pros: Best specs out of the bunch and manages to stay lightweight, decent looking, good value Cons: Build quality supposedly eh, keyboard supposedly weird, no thunderbolt 3 Laptop #6: Asus Zenbook Flip 14 Pros: 2in1, good value, quality pretty good Cons: Heavier, no thunderbolt 3 [link] [comments] |
