Posted: 05 Aug 2019 03:56 PM PDT I just got July update for my Galaxy S9 (Snapdragon Canada), and the night mode is crazy good. I put it up against Gcam Night Sight (32 sec exposure, Eszdman V2 lib). I was execting an unfair matchup for using long exposure, and boy, I was surprised. I used a tripod for both, since it was very dark in my basement and my hands are shaky. Here are the photo sample What do you guy think? [link] [comments]

I really hope the Pixel 4/4 XL have flat screens. Posted: 05 Aug 2019 01:17 AM PDT Flat screens end up looking better because you can apply a screen protector that actually fits. And they're more practical. [link] [comments]

First things you guys do when you buy a new phone? Posted: 05 Aug 2019 11:30 AM PDT Hello people! I am curious what are the first things you guys do, when you buy a brand new smartphone. Do you do anything special, for example, anything that can help improve the future life of the smartphone? [link] [comments]
Why do many Android enthusiasts vehemently avoid Google services/apps? Posted: 05 Aug 2019 12:26 PM PDT I don't use many Google apps simply because there are better featured alternatives, but i don't necessarily avoid them. In some cases, a reasonably better alternative either doesn't exist, or it's functionality is a pain in the ass to set up (for those of us slightly less tech literate). So why are (what seems to be) a large and knowlegeble group of users so willing to sacrifice function? Note: I posted in r/androidapps and then realized my question had changed a little, so may fit better here [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2019 11:17 AM PDT The thought came to me after getting annoyed whenever I'm relaxing in bed watching YouTube and I turn to my side to get comfy and have to turn off screen tilt or the video exits landscape mode. [link] [comments]
How many of y'all are running custom ROMs? Posted: 05 Aug 2019 10:25 AM PDT I have an Xperia z2 on AICP 14.0 and a nexus 6 on Pixel dust Pie. Don't really plan on buying a new shiny phone soon. [link] [comments]

What is the one thing that you would love to add to your phones? Posted: 05 Aug 2019 02:11 PM PDT I see a lot of mentions about SD card slots, headphone jacks, IR Blasters etc. but if you had to choose one thing that is really important but missing from the current phones, what would be it? I bet none of these would be it. For me it would be higher battery life on LTE, since I constantly find myself out of juice on a busy day while I use apps like Uber, Maps, WhatsApp etc. [link] [comments]

Are we finally past the superficial innovations phase? Posted: 05 Aug 2019 06:28 AM PDT For the last couple of years, we've been getting notches, camera cut outs, small bezels, curved screens, rounded screens, bigger screen sizes, pop-out cameras; for higher and higher prices. To me, none of that is an innovation that really improves the phone. Lately though, there is a lot of talk about 120Hz screens, low latency screens, high touch detection rates, bigger camera sensors (Huawei) and more good stuff that actually makes a difference. This is becoming exciting again. There was also GNSS L1+L5 before, although it seems to have died down. Huawei especially seems to be pushing this, it's too bad they got banned or else I feel like they'd be putting a real pressure on Samsung to innovate. Ice Universe's last post regarding the sensor sizes is what prompted me to create this post. I really hope that lights a fire under Samsung and others to really innovate and put bigger sensors in their phones rather than worrying about curved screens and camera cut outs. Do you think we're finally past the superficial "notch" era and back to actual innovations? [link] [comments] |
