    Anker USB-C Exploded on me!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2019 08:23 AM PDT

    Hey r/Android,

Just wanted to let everyone know this happened so hopefully something good can come out of it.

So this morning I unplug my phone like normal, and as soon as I unplug it, it explodes! It zaps my leg and my arm, and catches fire! Melting into my blanket and burning a hole into my sheet. It honestly scared me a lot. I've never had anything like this happen, I've heard horror stories but thankfully I'm okay.

My Galaxy S10 is safe, but now I'm going to need to replace my blanket, sheets, charging brick, and who knows what else lol

EDIT 1: I got the cable on Amazon on February 17th, 2019, so this was past the cables that were recalled.

EDIT 2: This is the exact cable I purchased

    Anker Powerline+ USB-C to USB 3.0 Cable (6ft, 2-Pack), High Durability, for Samsung Galaxy Note 8, S8, S8+, S9, iPad Pro 2018, MacBook, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, OnePlus 2 and More(Grey) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0791W4G1Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_O6TzDb8H8STQ4

EDIT 3: Called Anker support, and they're going to give me pre-paid postage to send it off, and they're going to reimburse me for anything that was damaged and also send off a new cable for me too. They're going to have an engineer look at it and see what went wrong, so maybe there will be another recall? Who knows.

I do know that this wasn't part of the previous recall, the customer support agent told me that they've never heard of this sort of thing happening. Could be just a fluke?

My Facebook app had Dark Mode for a minute

    Posted: 28 Aug 2019 07:33 AM PDT

A few months ago, my Facebook app suddenly had Dark Mode. It has not happened since. I tried telling several Android news outlets, but none of them even responded to my emails. Back in June I could find no pictures online of this. Maybe it's more common now. It didn't seem like a bug, and if I enabled "Force dark mode" in Pixel Settings after it went back to normal, it would have big white boxes showing that it's not possible to force a good looking dark mode. This is not a forced dark mode.

So here you go, the first ever (?) screenshot of the Facebook app in dark mode.
