Posted: 02 Jul 2019 02:10 PM PDT So I'm getting a laptop from my sis but she doesn't know the password and I've seen on YouTube that you can just wipe from the start screen on Windows 10 by pressing holding shift or something while restarting and going into trouble shoot and restart pc but they never show what happens next, is it really that easy or so I need a password after wiping? Now I can't access the files on my computer. So, I figured I'll just cut my loses and just copy my files as a new user. But here's the problem; I've already installed key software I need on my PC (Corel and Word), and I don't know if I can use these programs as a different user. | use heic photos as dynamic wallpaper Posted: 02 Jul 2019 04:49 PM PDT i have came across a couple of sites like dynamicwallpaper.club where you can download dynaic wallpapers which can change based on time of day. currntly you can only get windynamic desktop to change the wallpapers, however they must be a series of jpegs for it to work. based on what i know heic can have mutipule photos as 1 so i think thats how they can work on mac but not windows. any idea for extracting multiple images from 1 heic then i can use a dynamic desktop background? i can view them just fine on windows, but cant use them as dynamic wallpaper. i have tried heictojpg.com but that gives a error after the optimising part. any ideas please [link] [comments]  | ||

I just want to leave my webcam pointed at my door with a motion detector so i can know what's going on in there. What's the best way to set my laptop (surface pro) up to do this? I'm so bad with computers and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of something sooner. | WiFi Driver Automatically Uninstalls, Stops Working at Random Intervals Posted: 02 Jul 2019 07:23 PM PDT My WiFi drivers have not been functioning well lately. They stop working and don't display any error indication until I try to disconnect/connect, and the network I'm on is alone in the network taskbar thing. Sometimes the driver even vanishes without a trace, and I need to reinstall it/restart my laptop to get it working again. -My laptop is a Lenovo X220 -I run Windows 7 (Professional, I believe) -My WiFi drivers (I have tried multiple) are Intel -I know that it's a software issue, as I changed the hard drive between laptops (the same model) and there was no difference. It's been working great until a day or so ago. I'm trying to install another game on my PC, but it now gives me Error code: 0x803fb107. I've reset the app, made sure there's space, my internet is good. etc. The only solution I've seen online is a fresh Windows 10 installation, and I'm trying to avoid having to go through the hassle. | Is it safe to enable AHCI on an existing Windows 7? Posted: 02 Jul 2019 12:08 PM PDT Hello. Recently I switched from my old HDD to a new SSD by cloning c: (thanks to everyone who helped me out on this here). Now I read that AHCI should be enabled when using a SSD. I found a tutorial on how to do that here: https://tunecomp.net/enable-ahci-without-reinstalling-os-windows-10-7/ But is that save? I don't want to screw this up. This installation of Win7 needs to last until January when I just can't avoid Win10 anymore (and even then I'm thinking Linux might be the better option...). Can anything be damaged by doing this? | Why can't I view files after changing user account name? Posted: 02 Jul 2019 07:35 AM PDT Hi, so I am re-purposing an older computer for myself to use. Because I didn't realize there would be a problem, instead of creating a new account, I just changed the username for the administrator to my own name. Problem is, whenever I try to open a file, the computer gives me this error message: "C:\users[Old_username]\pictures\vacation\file_name.jpg The app didn't start" I went to the user folder, and sure enough the old username was still listed in the users folder. I can't rename it, and I can't create a new folder, so I'm pretty lost right now. I feel like I should just say "screw it", change the old username back and create a new user for myself. However, two things: 1. I installed Corel Drawl (I'm a graphic designer and I need that program) and Microsoft Office on this computer already, and I'm concerned I won't be able to use them if I create a new user. And 2. I'm not sure how to make a new user. The tl;dr version: I can't access my files since I changed my username because the users folder is set to the old name, and I want to know how to fix this. And if I can't fix this, does anyone know if I can use Office and Corel if I just create a new user? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Emulators crashing in the 1903 update. Posted: 02 Jul 2019 08:57 AM PDT I got a BSOD when I installed LDplayer and Nox player in windows 10. Previously, when I had the 1809 version, the programs would launch without any fuss but now all of a sudden, they don't even start up. I've looked around in their forums and I don't think VT enabling/disabling is the problem. The BSOD code is System Service exception. I also have the latest graphics drivers and I did a scan of the primary drive as well. But, the crash occurs anyways. Any solutions? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 02 Jul 2019 08:42 AM PDT When using a microphone, it only detects the sounds coming from the PC and not my voice. I used the Voice Recorder and played some music (this plays through my headphones) whilst also making silly noises in the background. Played it and only heard the music. How can I resolve this issue? Edit: Found that the mic is detecting my voice however I have to tap extremely hard for it to hear anything. The microphone itself is in working condition. [link] [comments]  |
