How to get permanent notifications on Redmi Note 7?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:22 AM PDT

The notification icons keep disappearing on Redmi Note 7. They are available for a few seconds once the notification arrives, but after few seconds, the notification icons form the top of the screen are gone forever?

This is a MIUI issue I assume, but is there a way to fix it without installing ROMs or rooting the phone?

Redmi Note 7 or Mi 9 se?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 04:51 PM PDT

Which one is better? I'm leaning more towards the mi 9 but the 3070 battery keeps me from buying it, since the mi 9 has better processor and looks better

Redmi Note 7 capable of playing (not recording) 4K 60fps videos?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 01:49 PM PDT

I know it can play 4K 30fps videos since that's what most 4K videos will be but will it play 4K 60fps ones? If you're wondering why I'm asking, it's for VR videos.

    Mi Pad 2 Completely Unavailable

Seems to be the only option for a 4:3 8-inch Windows tablet but it's like they've ceased to exist. Not on gearbest, aliexpress, banggood, geek-buying, or eBay. Should I give up looking for one?

    Redmi Airdots Sound quality

    Posted: 14 May 2019 03:18 AM PDT

    Hi.

Im thinking about getting the redmi airdots to replace my mpow swift that i use in the gym and to run.

Can't find a lot of reviews on them so i was wondering if someone around here has them and what they think of it in terms of sound quality and comfort (if they are heavy, uncomfortable to use, fall out, etc).

    Thank you!

Edit : as a used pointed out, there are the regular air dots and then the redmi airdots, which is the one im asking about. Thanks

Google Pay keeps resetting cards after every use after latest Mi Mix 3 update

    Posted: 14 May 2019 11:01 AM PDT

I've seen others complain that Google Pay doesn't work on their phones after their latest update but this is quite different.

Basically after I updated, whenever I use Google Pay, one transaction goes through. After purchasing something Google Pay completely resets all my cards, where I have to set them up again. I have done this over five times now and I'm fed up.

The cards are still there after they reset, however, it says "set up contactless" and from there I have to verify through my bank. I have three cards; two VISAs and one MC.

I tried reinstalling Google Pay but that did nothing. My phone is not rooted. My MIUI version is 10.3.1.0. with 2019-03-01 security patch.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    Redmi note 7?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:37 PM PDT

Hello. I'm thinking of purchasing the Redmi Note 7 global version to replace my Redmi S2. Can someone please tell a little more about the phone and the overall experience with it? Also, if it's possible, can you answer me this:

    • What's the call and sound quality?

    • How long does the battery really last on average use (without gaming)?

    • How high is the quality of the pictures and videos taken with the default MIUI camera app (non pro version)?

    • Does it have NFC?

    • Do you perhaps know does it work on 4G and which bands?

    • Did you experience any bugs after installing the last update?

    • How good is the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular connection?

    • Which Gcam exactly can you recommend that works without bugs?

Are MIUI themes no longer allowed to customize the status bar?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:33 PM PDT

I remember like a year ago themes could change it, and I'm seeing a lot of themes that in the preview the status bar is different but then when applying them, it doesn't change. Is this a recent thing or maybe it's my rom? (xiaomi.eu)

Mi Home app: Notifications never show at all on Android??

    Posted: 14 May 2019 03:33 PM PDT

In Mi Home Automations, there's a way to Send Notifications to the phone.

However, they never actually pop up.

I made sure the Mi Home app's notifications are treated as Priority; still nada.

I then checked this same automation flow on my friend's Android, the same problem.

Here are some snapshots of my settings in the app (Xiaomi Mijia sensor connected just fine, btw):

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/7av2d81g2pl8zcq/Screenshot_20190514-114626.png?dl=0

On my friend's phone, we simply used a timer as a trigger - no dice... meaning, no notifications. Boo.

How do I make Mi Home Notifications actually show on my Android??

    Xiaomi mi mix 3 questions

    Posted: 14 May 2019 05:24 PM PDT

I am looking to buy a new phone. I found out about the Xiaomi mi mix 3 so I have a few questions.

    • Apparently it's thicker and heavier than other phones, how bad is it? Annoying?
    • You can't have a case right? Is it sturdy enough?
    • Is the slider automatic or manual?
    • Is it true that the audio is shit?
    • Waterproof? Dust proof?
    • How does the OS work? Coming from apple, I don't know android very well and even less the Xiaomi phones. Being a Chinese phone, I know the OS is weird but can I have English or French easily? Does it come with complications?
    • And also, how long do the Xiaomi phones hardware last? 3-4-5 years?

Coming from apple and if it helps, I'm Canadian.

    Thanks!

Redmi Note 7 Bluetooth input lag.

    Posted: 14 May 2019 01:09 PM PDT

Hi everyone, first time Xiaomi owner here.

So far my RN7 is awesome, yes there is a little touch issue with the keyboard but nothing really bad.

Now, I do have a Bluetooth controller and I was hoping to use it to play some emulators (btw, up to PSX/N64 works great and PSP too)

But the input lag or missing inputs is really bad. I tried all my emulators and all of them present the same behavior, trying to play games like DJ Max or Kaizo Super Mario World are impossible. I tested the controller on 3 different phones and the controller worked without lag or missing inputs so definitely is a MIUI setting.

Anyone else experienced the same problem? Did someone know how to at least reduce it?

    Thanks!

Issues with Yi Home camera notifications

    Posted: 14 May 2019 04:36 PM PDT

I bought 8 of these cameras, 4 indoor and 4 outdoor about a month ago. When i first set them up, the app notifications were working well. However, the next day and ever since, the notifications don't come through. They don't come through until I open the app. I have done all the settings as recommended on my android, but no luck. What's the point if you're not notified? Anyone been able to fix this issue, if you were experiencing it? I know others have bc I've seen others comments about it.

Some questions about the Redmi Note 7 Pro for somebody in the UK (bought from Banggood)

    Posted: 14 May 2019 04:21 PM PDT

The phone is currently on it's way as of this post, it should be arriving some time in the next week or 2.

So, I recently purchased the Note 7 Pro from Banggood as it was an incredible price for the specs it offers without actually realising it wasn't a global version (It has a Chinese ROM), but I discovered that you can get a custom ROM and some looked promising such as Pixel Experience.

But the one massive downside to this seems to be that you simply cannot get 48 Megapixel output for the camera without using the default camera app only included in MIUI. Is there really no way around this? Pretty much the main feature of the phone is the true 48 Megapixel camera sensor.

I've heard conflicting things about the camera working at 48MP with the "Global" India ROM. Can anybody confirm or deny this?

I'm not too worried about the phone not supporting band 20 as I don't exactly use internet much outside of my own Wi-Fi other than for googling things etc. Nothing that would require 4G.

Also I'm assuming there's Google integration in the Global India ROM?

And just how bad exactly is the Chinese ROM from anybody that has used it? My main concerns are no Google apps and I've heard there's just random ads every so often.

I've also heard talk of needing to wait 15 days to unlock the bootloader? I guess I will have to spend those 15 days trying to get used to the Chinese ROM and install as much of the Google stuff as possible to get it as close to a global version as possible as it's probably the least awkward option and will still allow use of the 48 Megapixel camera.

    Samsung Gear

    Posted: 14 May 2019 03:38 PM PDT

Hello, i currently own a Xiaomi Mi 9 and i was wondering if it is compatible with the Samsung Smartwatch, i once read that it has only partial compatibility, so if that is the case, which features are left behind? Thanks in advance.

droped the phone and now the USB won't connect

    Posted: 14 May 2019 01:54 PM PDT

I was using USB tethering on my laptop for internet, and I accidentally hit it with my elbow, and the phone dropped on the surface(2 feet below the table)...and when I try to tetheri t again, I keep getting error messages about USB not recognizing due to malfuction. I tried rebooting my laptop and the phone, but it didn't work.

Is it my phone problem? or the USB cord problem? My phone is Mi Mix 2, Android version 8.0.0 OPR1. 170623.027, if it matters.
