We need to talk about gaming companies "forcing" us to play every day Posted: 14 May 2019 05:34 PM PDT This will be, half a rant, half a confession and half offmychest, just like ManBearPig, let me give you first a bit of background. I used to live in Venezuela, back there I had a PC, but I also had a job and a loving family and I would go to work and when I came back I would relax playing games on my PC, if would get tired I just shut it off and go to bed. I recently had to "flee" (let's say I just left but I did it in a hurry) my country, and now live in Colombia. Here I don't have a PC but I have a cellphone, when I go to work and come home (alone because my family stayed back in Venezuela) I do not have the PC to play games, nor do I own a TV (here you need a special TV or a special TV equipment called TDT) so I started playing games on my phone, it wasn't that bad, but there are some games that are "special" in a way, they kind of force you to play every day Full disclaimer: I got myself into this mess, but I am leaving it today. So here is where it starts, a friend of mine plays this game called "Magic Rush" And he had a spare account called "farm" where they play a couple minutes then siphon the resources to their main account. And he wanted to give it to me. I said ok let's do it, he was a new friend so I didn't want to let him down, and I started to play not even knowing if I would like the game, but I really liked it. But that is not the problem, the problem is, YOU HAVE TO PLAY EVERY DAY AT A GIVEN TIME, otherwise you lose the main events and a BUNCH of XP to your main heroes, meaning, if you lose 2 or 3, you're done for, you can't play again unless you pay a bunch of money (in the form of diamonds) to catch up, because if you fall behind you become cannon fodder, meaning every other powerful player will come after you for your resources, which are given to you every day, which means, you will ALWAYS be under attack and given no chance to restore and or fight back. Here comes the tricky part, there are these things called "alliances", where a bunch of people team up to defeat another alliances, and there are several daily tasks that cannot be accomplished without being in an alliance, and in order for the alliance to be at least in the top 1000, they need active members. So they constantly bombard you with notifications and if you disable the notifications you have the other members asking you to collaborate, and to be active, I am sitting here tonight in my bed, just got out of work and have 350+ notifications (WhatsApp included, because if you don't have a phone number you can't be part of our alliance) -I'm looking at you blizzard "Do you guys not have phones?"- that our alliance was attacked and some of the people DEMANDING that we go online and help them defeat the enemy or at least help fend off the attackers, in order to do so, I need at least 2 hours, and I am really tired, if I don't help I get kicked, if I get kicked I am worth nothing because they themselves will attack me until I get relocated, then after I get relocated on the map the rest of the vultures would attack me senseless. Now, this is the case for this game, but I can assure you, there are several other games with this strategy, login every day or fall behind, watch ads every day and get the most rewards, I get that game developers have to eat, and in order to do so, they need to show ads, I am all for opt in ads, but forcing you to watch ads in order no "not fall behind the rest" is just lame. At this point, this game is more of an obligation than a past time, and I am too tired to do this every day, I am quitting this game, sorry if you had to read my rant. This is not about this game alone, and I know a lot of people that will say things like: "I would've quit the same day" or "if it doesn't work for me, it doesn't work at all" but some people are introverts who are just happy to make a friend, and/or find the game interesting at first but then just, grow out of it or are simply forced into it. There are also games that say things like, "you have 5 hours to finish this mission" and give you enough "energy" to do 1/3 of the mission forcing you to: either spend money or log in several times every day just to finish the mission (I am looking at you Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery) and other that straight up is just full of unwanted ads and unavoidable 35 seconds commercials. Again, I am sorry, and although I am not Canadian I tell you this, be nice eh! Bye Sorry to the mods if my rant isn't allowed here. I read the rules but I think this is not explicitly forbidden. I intend to do a part 2 of this when I am less sleepy about the forced ads in apps, but I am pretty sure that has been covered here. [link] [comments]

Any poker games where you can easily play with friends? Posted: 14 May 2019 06:33 PM PDT I've spent the last 2 days trying to find a poker game I could play with my friend in another state and simply can't get any of them to work. At first I was looking for one where I didn't need facebook to play with them and ended up making a fake facebook just to try and play the ones that advertise being able to play with friends and still none of them have my friends show up in game after I add them. I've spent 2 days probably checking over 20 apps and none of them let me play with a friend. Does anybody have any ideas for poker apps that might be what I'm looking for? [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 May 2019 05:01 AM PDT Inspired by similar post in /r/androidapps, you might've heard of some, maybe others are obscure to you. Nevertheless, here are my random list of games that at least worth a try. G: casual. O: portrait. Very simple casual game, but I always come back for more. Just tap to step forward, longer tap = further step. Be careful not to step on the cracks or other obstacles. Perfect for short session gaming. Pro tip: do yourself a favor and download the version 2.2.1 from APKMirror, back when the game still haven't riddled with too much ads and use VIP subscription. G: casual. O: portrait. Another casual game, this one requires both hands to play. Tap right to ascend 1 step, and tap left to change direction. Deceptively simple. BACKFIRE (PAID) G: action, arcade. O: landscape. A different take on top-down shooter where bullets came out of your rear instead of front side. Control is very simple, just tap to move AND shoot. The weapons are varied and each one gives different kind of approach. G: tower defense. O: landscape. I've seen too many people recommend Kingdom Rush and Bloons but very little love for my favorite TD. It's probably one of the most faithful one in the genre. You can't build tower to make path, but instead there's a map editor. The waves are endless, later waves of course yield bigger rewards. The upgrades are plentiful, really reminds me of some RPG's skill tree. Infinitode 2 (BETA) G: tower defense. O: landscape. Same as above, but with some new features and improvements here and there. Still in beta though. G: action, arcade. O: portrait. Single hand control, basically you just drag a virtual analog to move, and stop moving to shoot enemies. The progress is in roguelite-ish fashion, you can get upgrades on each run, but will disappear on next run, but there are also permanent upgrades and equipments that somewhat relies on in-game currency. It also has energy system, and there's no IAP to remove it, the IAPs are for in-game currencies only. Haven't spend a dime, but this is probably the only freemium game I keep coming back to... Minesweeper Genius (PAID) G: puzzle. O: portrait. Contrary to the name, this game is more like the combination of nonogram / picross and minesweeper. The mine clues are in picross style (horizontal & vertical numbers), but there are also minesweeper-like clues. Main objective is to get the "sweeper" to the goal without stepping in any mines. G: puzzle. O: portrait. Probably the best minesweeper game I've found on play store. It has the classic square shape and hexagon, just wish for the triangle to come. Can't stop playing ever since 3 months ago when I first learned how to properly play minesweeper. G: puzzle. O: portrait. More options as opposed to Minesweeper Collection. It also has triangle shape for those of you who are masochists. This one doesn't click with me though. G: shmup, bullet hell. O: portrait. My favorite plane shoot 'em up since the era of nokia n-gage. This is a great successor, and probably the prettiest top-down plane shooting game I've ever found on Play Store. Playing for 2 years now, still haven't completed the challenges in last few levels. IAPs are for ad removal, double currency (recommended if you really like the game), and extra currency. The only shitty part is probably the ad-removal IAP is separated. G: bullet hell. O: portrait. The simplest form of bullet hell games reminiscence of touhou games. Not as pretty as Sky Force, but the challenge is really there. IAP is there for upgrades, ships and weapons, the upgrades are obtainable just by playing, but I'm unsure about the ships and weapons. G: CYOA. O: portrait. Choose your own adventure, graphic is fully text. It's a fantasy story, with magic, dragons, ancient languages, and shit. I'm not an avid book reader, but I thoroughly enjoy this one. IAPs are for unlocking the next books (IIRC, you can keep playing without spending a dime but with ads), there are currently 3 books available. More info (and memes) on r/magium. That's all from me folks, if you guys have more stuffs to recommend, would love to read more about it. [link] [comments]

Night of the full moon character unlocks Posted: 14 May 2019 03:11 PM PDT Are the characters pay to skip, but you can unlock them through play, or do you have to pay to unlock the different characters? [link] [comments]
[Request] Any games based off collecting things that actually matter? (EG artifacts) Posted: 14 May 2019 06:52 PM PDT I've been looking for this kind of game for a while. Not like "PVZ heroes" packs kind of, more like "the more you play the game, the more blank you get and the stronger you are. Key points (TLDR): Collecting something; That something actually matters; Not pay-to-win gatcha-esque things. kind of like a game about collecting items basically sorry if this question gets asked too much. Posted: 14 May 2019 04:38 PM PDT I'd like to reset the bricks n balls game but I'm not sure how to. I've tried deleting and redone loading it but that doesn't work. [link] [comments]

[Request] Games like Looney Tunes Monster Match? Posted: 14 May 2019 09:24 PM PDT Hello everyone. I am looking for a match 3 game like the old java game Looney tunes monster match. This game is so good (one of the best match 3 games beside Bejeweled, especially Bejeweled 3, on the PC). Are there any games like this on Android? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 May 2019 08:31 PM PDT Guys can you suggest me a game (possibly similiar to the logic of Summoners War/Skylanders etc) for android with this two features i need: 1 management type game 2 Auto mode x10/x5 or anything; If it's like SW or Skylanders where you summon something, you level your monster, evolve/awaken them, equip/rune them etc it's better. I just want a game to play in backgrond while doing other stuff,, and if it's like SW i can't tap on the screen every 30 sec to restart the run (I know Skylanders has the X10 feature but i just hate everything else about that game exept for that feature alone and it's not enought for me to keep playing it). Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 May 2019 08:06 AM PDT I really wanna like the game but with mandatory deck inflation, tight funds and inability to combo cards due to mandatory discards I'm having difficulty getting past the second boss. So far I've been upgrade issue orders and ammo cards and buying hook, golden gun. Any extra tips, I only have the first two characters unlocked but mainly use gunner. [link] [comments]
Suggestions for a card-based RPG on Android? Posted: 14 May 2019 07:22 AM PDT I'm looking for something that is similar to the new switch game steamworld quest, but for mobile.
EDIT: Doesn't need to be cards so long as it doesn't use touch screen joysticks Thanks! [link] [comments]
Need a new game for me and some friends Posted: 14 May 2019 06:57 AM PDT Doesn't have to be an mmo! The major requirements are that it should have a good crafting/customization system, can all play together even though we are on different regions. Oh and not p2w if it's an mmo. Help find a good casual but addictive game Posted: 14 May 2019 12:19 PM PDT So I was trying to find a game for the past week and couldn't. What I was really looking for was a casual game that I can spend a long time on, not story limited or sagas, but actual games where new updates bring new stuff to do which can carry on for months. I don't enjoy the overrated games like brawl stars or clash Royale. I've played a lot of gachas before and got tired of the grind and salt. One of the games I'm genuinely enjoying right now is afk arena, but I don't want an idle game or something in portrait mode. Preferably with a somewhat active player base and f2p friendly. If it's a good game that costs money it's also considerable. I honestly don't know really what I am looking for, so thanks to anyone who might take time to read and comment, much love!
