When I click on data to see what's using all the data the app changes to "font server" Is that normal? Could be nothing at all but I've had tons of phone related issues and wanted to check. | What is the most accurate "backup & restore" method? Would like tablet restored exactly... Posted: 30 May 2019 06:39 PM PDT In my tablet options, I have two different backup/restore options: 1) Samsung account 2) Google account Are any of these 100% accurate? I might have to get my current Samsung Galaxy Tab S5E replaced - with a new unit of the same model (so hardware's not changing). In Windows, you have backup "images" which restore EVERYTHING (apps, settings, desktop composition) with pretty much 100% accuracy. I've only had a few experiences "restoring" stuff on Android, and it's always left me disappointed. I recall restoring apps on my old phone, and not all the settings were restored. Even when I do an in-app restores such as with Nova Launcher...I find widgets are not restored properly. That's why I'm wondering if I should even bother with either of these two backup/restore options. Or I should screenshot/note down all my settings and prepare to set everything manually. Posted: 30 May 2019 08:48 AM PDT I have been using Nova launcher prime for ages but since I started using internet access only via a VPN I started to see just how much apps are phoning home. Is there a good reason for Nova to connect to Amazon AWS four times every minute? I'm sure they do some kind of user analytics but this seems ridiculous. I'll just point out that it is of course Nova launcher from Google Play, so it isn't some kind of pirate-app-malware I'm seeing. | Posted: 30 May 2019 07:15 PM PDT recently i noticed this bug driving me insane. i have a ford with Sync 3 and a galaxy s9. when i plug my phone in, android auto comes up on the infotainment screen as usual. audio does not work until i unplug the phone. before i unplug it, changing the volume shows "phone volume" instead of "audio volume". once i unplug phone, the infotainment screen shows that my phone is in the middle of a bluetooth call with myself. once i end the call and plug my phone back in it works fine. its driving me mad. tried uninstalling and reinstalling AA which did nothing. i cant keep bluetooth off because the car automatically resyncs bluetooth even if i delete the pairing on both sides. no samsung updates as of recent, only thing i can think of is some app is causing issues. is this happening to anyone else? I tried educating myself but I've obviously not yet found the information to understand the differences... I am selecting between two micro sd cards... I currently have a Sandisk Ultra 200 gb And am looking at the (fairly new to Reddit, still learning how to use it! So currently wishing I knew how to include a picture of the two within this post!) Samsung 512 GB Evo Select XC I 3 at $99 And the Sandisk Extreme Pro 400 GB XC V30 I 3 AU at $95 What in the hell do all of these numbers mean!?! Even if I put the phone on mute it still makes a notification sound when they pop up. This started happening after using my new bluetooth headphones, so I'm assuming it has something to do with them. Posted: 30 May 2019 03:42 PM PDT On my old LG G2, when I set DND or silent mode it gives me the option to make a time limit. ie, 8 hours then it will turn back on. My friend have committed suicide and I'm trying to help family find why have it happend... police returned mobile without doing anything cause for them its clean suicide case and I guess they just dont care... as far as I heard only way to recover anything from mobile is to wipe it and try to recover deleted data which I dont see as an option... android is 8 or 9, not sure, we are still waiting for mobile to discharge If anyone have any idea please let me know... | Posted: 30 May 2019 03:45 PM PDT Suddenly don't get any signal, my sim works in another phone. Any ideas? Tried reboot, re insert, safe mode. Last things I was doing was updating some apps and just gave the phone a reboot and after the reboot no signal. I checked recent updates and only device health services was a recent system app, uninstalling updates for it didn't work. I dialled *#*#4636#*#* to get into the service menu but cannot turn the radio on, if I back out of the menu it just goes back to off. Help please! [link] [comments]  |

| How to require both PIN and fingerprint to unlock phone? Posted: 30 May 2019 11:04 AM PDT So, what I need is to require both a fingerprint and a PIN to unlock my phone. I have done some research on this, and have found some solutions, however, there are problems with each of them. I read on some site to use a third party lock screen for the PIN, and then the fingerprint unlock (So the 3rd Party lock screen is the PIN, which unlocks to the OS unlock screen, which I unlock with fingerprint). The problem is, I remember reading that 3rd party lock screens can be disabled by booting into safe mode. I understand this would require the phones backup PIN/Passcode, but it would not require my fingerprint. I currently have it set up this way, but if there is a 3rd party app that requires both PIN and fingerprint that cannot be disabled by safe mode, that would be nice to have. Also, does anyone know of a 3rd party lock screen that CAN'T be disabled by safe mode? Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

I currently have the ZTE Blade max and it's a good phone, I actually got it for free when switching over carrier. I'm trying to spend between $200-$300, but if the phone is worth it I can do a bit more. I want a phone that has a big screen, good camera, plenty of internal storage and overall good lasting phone. I was looking around the Amazon refurbished phones they have for sell but there is just too many to pick from. I live in Texas and I currently have Metro PCS. What good Android phones are available for me and my price range? I can as well buy an LG Stylo 4 for about $200 new from Metro PCS, but don't know how good that phone is compared to other available refurbished phones. | Where can I find an Android app/tool to add a rounded corners on my wallpapers Posted: 30 May 2019 03:35 AM PDT My device is a budget Samsung phone with straight corners and I'd like to add rounded corners to my home screen. I tried out some apps that simulated it but they all just slow the phone down. So I let it be untill recently when I downloaded this wallpaper that had it's edges blacked out to create the illusion of a rounded corners. And because the Samsung display has AMOLED the black are hidden really well and it's really hard to notice that the corners are just part of the picture. And I'd like to add that corner illusion to my other wallpapers is there an app I can use to get this. | Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 Micro SD Card Problem Posted: 30 May 2019 06:46 AM PDT Hello I have a Samsung J5 2017 (shown in the title) and there's a problem with the sd card A little backstory i guess: I tried putting some photos on the sd card but it kept saying it didnt go through I didnt think much of it only the my files app maybe breaking down so i used es file explorer... same thing again So i restart (not factory reset) my phone and see some app icons are not displayed. Didnt think much of it again because my phone does that when its just been restarted i dont remember other stuff but then i lost it when the my files app showed the SD card wasnt inserted The SD Card was inserted but the phone didnt recognize it So i panic a bit but open the sd card slot and see the sd card is there perfectly fine And i feel better and i put it back Still it didnt recognize I kept doing it till i just left it to do its own thing And i came back and saw that some sd card apps showed up and worked but the rest didnt And i really dont know what i should do i put some of the sd card apps that even came up to the internal storage And my phone did have some issues in the past like the volume down button like a seesaw basically and the speaker not making any sound stuff like that, Im currently writing this on reddit in chrome because reddit was one of the apps that were on the sd card and didnt show up or work so i have to use the browser version Now My phone specs (That i know) My phone is a Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 I've had it for a Year and four months I purchased it on December 23rd 2017 but it arrived on January 2nd I bought it from Telekom (Or well Hungarian T-mobile) The phone has a year warranty I did get the phone fixed once in november 2018 The phone is factory unlocked probably? | How to enable usb debugging with dead screen and power button Posted: 30 May 2019 08:03 AM PDT Hello My Samsung J3 simply gave up yesterday. Screen is completely dead and so is power button, the only thing functioning is home button and volume buttons. Phone works normally because I can hear texts and calls and I can hear the beep when I turn the volume up/down. I would try something but for some reason my usb debugging is turned off. I am trying to access my phone with this program https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53482464 everything goes smooth but it says my phone is "rejected". I tried a different program that is called Vysor or something similar that allows a similar thing but it says my usb debugging is disabled. So my question is how to enable it while my screen is broken and my power button is dead (I can turn on the phone by plugging in usb cable and holding home+volume down). Also, please, if you have a solution write a detailed step by step instructions because most of the times when I try something I get lost in all the terminology.
