Dell XPS 13 (2019) vs Razer Blade Stealth 2019: Which to get for a Grad student on the go? Posted: 12 May 2019 12:12 PM PDT Hello All, Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me out. I am purchasing a new laptop for coding/ analysis type work that needs to be quite portable for my grad student needs. As such, the xps 13 and blade stealth seemed like great options. I wanted to ask what others thought/ had heard about the laptops when compared to each other, since, while I like the USB-A and mx150 on the blade stealth, I wasn't sure if there were other aspects about the xps 13 that makes it the obvious choice. Laptop plugged but battery is being drained Posted: 12 May 2019 02:14 PM PDT I let my laptop plugged all the time (Asus) but with option to optimize the battery life, it means, to not charge the battery while plugged. It is set for best performance (instead of best battery life) when plugged power mode. But even though, when I connect my phone to transfer data or to charge the phone, or when I play heavy games, it drains the laptop battery (and charges the phone). My computer is new and I have never used without being plugged. And sometimes it charges 1%. I don't know why, but I am paranoid about this because I only use plugged to make sure to save the battery life for strictly necessary cases. [link] [comments]

Left half of laptop keyboard not working after cleaning Posted: 12 May 2019 01:01 PM PDT Hi guys, I recently disconnected my HP Pavilion laptop keyboard from the motherboard connector in order to clean the fan with an air duster. However, upon reconnecting the keyboard, only the right half of the keyboard actually registers keys. Any suggestions? I've tried all the standard stuff (restarting, updating drivers etc). I've checked and rechecked the connection to the motherboard; it looks fine. [link] [comments]
Is there a way to change the contrast or colours on my laptop? Posted: 12 May 2019 09:03 AM PDT Just wondering if I could have deeper colours on my laptop screen. Is that possible? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 May 2019 06:51 AM PDT I just bought my first refurbished laptop to try and upgrade to a nicer/faster/better machine. I've never done this! I've built a couple gaming desktops from scratch for my daughter and I but nothing like this. My question is I bought a Dell Latitude E5540 from dell refurbishment directly simply because it was the cheapest on their site ( I know I know cheap isn't always good). But my question is what all exactly can I upgrade because I'm getting conflicting info from the internet. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Matebook Pro X or Dell XPS (2019)? Posted: 12 May 2019 12:26 PM PDT I love Huawei and what they're doing at the moment in terms of rivaling Apple in the quality of their products but the availability of the repairs if anything were to go wrong worries me. Out of these two laptops, which should I get? Can I run a game like Skyrim on the Dell or should I look for something else before purchasing? [link] [comments]

Outside of that the laptop seems to be in good shape and has "less than a year of use". This seems like a really good deal, but what do you think? [link] [comments]

Downgrade from dell xps 15 (2017 version) Posted: 12 May 2019 10:48 AM PDT Hello all, just finished up my first semester at uni (Mech. Engineering) with my laptop I bought (Dell xps 15). I've come to the realization that I do not need something so powerful for what it's worth. Originally, I had planned to run solid works simulations on it but seeing as this is not something I will have to do often I'm looking to downgrade. The 4k display and touchscreen are fantastic, but truly, these are gimmicks that I can live without. And the GTX 1050 is a little to powerful for me! Anyways, looking to downgrade to something a little cheaper, I dont mind having to upgrade ram and storage to an SSD. **Total budget and country of purchase:*\* 500-600 CAD, Canada **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.*\* Mainly a decent battery life and a good CPU is what I'm looking for. 2 in 1 is great, but not a requirement. **How important is weight and thinness to you?*\* The lighter, the better. Its an hour commute from home to school! **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.*\* 15 inch or smaller. **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.*\* Mainly just chrome and other university apps that aren't too CPU intensive. No gaming except for emulation. **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?*\* I hate keyboards that stick or that are flush with the bezel, so something a little raised would be good. I take good care of my stuff, won't be dropping it much, but don't really want something made of thin plastic. Again, touch screen, finger print reading, etc. are not really needed but would be cool. Must have at least 2 USB ports and if there is no optical drive, even better. **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.*\* Ultimately, I would like something that I could upgrade its internals and that has a decent battery life and wifi card. Thats it. For internals, 8GB ram and a 256-512GB SSD. Again, I can buy something and upgrade it if need be. [link] [comments]

Best USB C charger for LG gram 13.3? Posted: 12 May 2019 09:55 AM PDT I'm looking to get a LG Gram 13.3 laptop soon and I wanted to know which USB C cable I can use to charge my laptop. I'll probably not use the actual AC plug that is included in the laptop in favor of the USB C charger. Any recommendations from LG Gram or otherwise users? [link] [comments] |
