| Cannot scan QR codes from within apps Posted: 16 May 2019 05:29 PM PDT I am having a very weird problem. I cannot scan QR codes from within apps. I can do it from a QR Reader, but apps that have QR code reading functions inside apps, such as Google Authenticator, will just stare at this QR codes all day. Would anyone have any idea how to enable this? I seem to be the only person on the planet that's having this problem. I am on Android Pie. Note 9. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 16 May 2019 03:41 PM PDT So I just received an S8 active that I'm trying to switch over to. This phone was previously owned by my father's late girlfriend who passed away about a year ago. She had a lot of stuff on there so I assumed the best course of action would be to factory reset the phone before I switched my sim card over to it. Now when I power the phone on and go through the initial screens of connecting to wifi and accepting terms and agreements I get stuck on a screen that prompts me to log in to the previously synced google account associated with the phone. I spent a few hours on the phone yesterday being transferred from AT&T to Samsung to Google and then back to Samsung who then transferred me over to a Best Buy Geek Squad representative. Samsung had previously told me that the Geek Squad would be able to wipe the phone completely and fix the problem but apparently that's not the case. Now the Geek Squad is saying the only thing I can do is try to figure out her gmail address and password but I have no way of doing that seeing as I already reset the phone. I'm at a loss for what to do now. All 4 of the companies I spoke with yesterday say that there is nothing they can do to help me. Can anyone help me figure this out? Or maybe point me in the direction of a different sub that could? I'd really appreciate it!. Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments]  |

What really bugs me is that I can't seem to get Night Light schedule to say that it's On or Active. It just stays at Off no matter what I try. | Weather showing Celsius not Farenheit on lockscreen/AOD Posted: 16 May 2019 08:21 PM PDT I have a Pixel 3 XL running the AOSiP rom. All of my weather and units are set to Farenheit (US temperature). On the Google weather app and the homescreen widget, it shows the temperature in Farenheit. On my lockscreen and always on display, it shows Celsius. I've tried clearing cache and data for Google apps, giving location permission to apps, etc., but can't seem to figure it out. Can't reboot or power off, because it wants a PIN and that doesn't work. I'm basically waiting until the battery runs out before it'll turn off and I can try and boot into Safe Mode. I hope that works, because if not I have to wait another week for the battery to die before I can try again. Here's a video showing the problem. Ugh. Any help would be greatly appreciated! | Need help updating my app to Play Store Posted: 16 May 2019 07:35 PM PDT If this is the wrong subreddit, then what is? I find Play Store somewhat opaque. When I click on App Releases (on the Console) I don't see the app I uploaded yesterday. Not even a reference. Instead I see I need to correct two errors: Error You need to upload an APK or Android App Bundle for this application. Error You cannot remove all production APKs and Android App Bundles. I did upload an APK on 5/16. Just not sure...like where it is. What's confusing to me also is that the Console says I have a release ready for rollout but then that error implying that I need to upload an APK. | Samsung phones vs Samsung TVs - Screen Burn In Posted: 16 May 2019 03:49 PM PDT How come Samsung phones get screen burn ins often within a year of ownership, but their TVs are just fine? Sometimes I'm tempted to go back to Android and try one of the new Galaxy phones but the screen burn in that they all seem to suffer is without a doubt one of my main reasons for not doing it. My iPhone 8 which is almost two years old is doing just fine. Screen looks awesome. It's not a fancy OLED display, and doesn't even have the best resolution but the screen is awesome. The colors are SO accurate it's seriously a great display. I have multiple people in my family that all have Galaxy phones they've gotten within the past two years and all but one have screen burn in issue. It's a huge drawback that I think Samsung should take more seriously... Or maybe it's just good business, it gives people the excuse to go and get the new Galaxy because there's is "broken". My eight year old Samsung LED TV still looks awesome all these years later without issue. I have a hard time believing that the technology is just that bad. Whats going on here? [link] [comments]  |
| Lag for the call screen to show up Posted: 16 May 2019 03:38 PM PDT I notice a lag on my Samsung Galaxy A30 (running android 9) call screen after i press "call" it take a few seconds for the dial screen to show up. Also when i have an incoming call i hear the ring a couple times before it lights up the screen. Everything else is fast on this phone except this issue. Posted: 16 May 2019 07:00 PM PDT I have a samsung j7 and most of the time, whenever I open my phone, I have a lock screen with a ad on it and it's not the usual one I have. It blocks my notifications, which is why I want to get rid of it. I don't know if I downloaded a malware or something, but I looked on the internet and there where some solutions but none of them seemed to work, i tried the three dots one where there's three dots on the left top of the lock screen and it didnt work, I uninstalled any apps I don't need, turned off notifications for most of my apps, idk what to do. It started 2 days ago. I also get ads on my phone whenever I'm using it, no matter what I'm doing. | Google Photos device folders — photos sync to Google Drive, but the folders don't?! Posted: 16 May 2019 06:54 PM PDT I created a bunch of device folders in Google Photos on my Google Pixel to organize my massive library. I spent at least full weeks of my life meticulously sorting photos into the appropriate folder. For example, some of my folders were along the lines of:
This made it wonderfully fast and efficient for me to e.g. pull up the appropriate whiteboard notes in response to an email request from a client on the go. Additionally, Google Photos automatically created some device folders like Screenshots, Downloads, Twitter, Tumblr, Messages, etc. All of my folders were set to Sync to Google Drive. Last week I ran out of space on my phone and decided to archive my synced photos to free up space. The result: Weeks of my life down the drain. All of the photos (presumably) synced to Google Drive, but NOT ONE OF THE FOLDERS DID. Not even "Screenshots"! All of the photos synced to Google Drive were pooled into to a single simplistic date-based file structure. Instead of being able to go to a client's folder, I have to try and remember what year and month the photo was taken and then browse through THOUSANDS of photos to find it. This is horrible design. I attempted a workaround of forgoing device folders and doing all of my sorting in Google Drive, but then photos keep syncing from the phone to the date-based folder even after you move them to a new Google Drive folder. So then I tried archiving all synced photos daily, but there are now waaaaay too many steps involved for replying to emails. Or even on Twitter, if I want to say upload a screenshot, I can't upload from Google Drive to Twitter; I can only upload from local storage. So I have to leave Twitter, open Google Drive, search for the screenshot, download it, go back to Twitter, upload the photo, and then delete the downloaded screenshot before it syncs to Google Drive again and creates more unnecessary clutter. Am I missing something?! I've been searching high and low for a solution to this but haven't seen a single other post about this. Is there a setting I can switch on, a search mechanism I can use, anything?! I'm desperate, please help! [link] [comments]  |

In actual dev software, there's always just a point blank "Choose Image" button, but every piece of literature I find on the subject is either "use the built-in icon chooser" or an add-on app which my launcher doesn't support for whatever reason. The other option that comes up is to use icon pack makers. Whether they work or not, it literally only gives me polygons like a vector, I can't just import what I have. The one icon maker that did, I guess isn't compatible with Samsung's stupid special themes. The Samsung theme store is full of amateur stuff, but I can't find one piece of information how they get created. I'm guessing all "Icon pack makers" are for regular Android. | Not Receiving Notifications with newest update Posted: 16 May 2019 02:25 PM PDT Not sure how much software/hardware info is needed, but I am on a Galaxy S8, android version 9. I just received a major update a few weeks ago. Ever since, I have not been receiving notifications for two (that I know of) apps: Gmail and CNN. The only time I get notifications from them is when I actually open the app. If I go three or four days without opening CNN, when I do open it I get dozens and dozens of notifications all at once. Same with Gmail but I tend to open it more often because it's more important. I have checked my system notification settings including the specific settings for each app and it all seems to be correct. Please help! Missing Gmail notifications is a huge deal!
