March 2019 update bricks my Xiaomi A2 Posted: 12 Apr 2019 01:41 PM PDT Hi everyone! I've been happily enjoying a Xiaomi A2 for a few months. I was abroad for a couple weeks so turned data off, and when I came back home I re-enabled data. Without me noticing, my phone picked up an Android system update, and entered a boot loop (Android One logo on boot, and that's it forever). At first I didn't realize what happened, I just thought my phone "crashed" for some reason. Once I realized my data was lost anyway, I thought I'd simply reflash my phone. But the bootloader being locked by default it's virtually not possible. You either have two options: - Open your device, connect two test points on the PCB, and use a proprietary tool on Windows (MiFlash) to reflash your phone - Visit a Mi Store. Well, in fact no, I tried that, and they wouldn't service my phone because I bought it online. Eventually Amazon customer support (where I got my phone from) was super nice and exchanged my phone. So I just got a replacement A2, and first thing I do is unlock the bootloader. Turns out I'm glad I did: a few minutes later, that new A2 picked up the March update and… entered a boot loop as well! Fortunately this time I'm able to reflash the previous version (`jasmine_global_images_V10.0.2.0.PDIMIFJ_9.0`), but as soon as it picks up the March update, it enters a reboot loop… I've re-tried 3 times so far. I guess I'll have to find a way to prevent it from loading the update… Yay! [link] [comments]

Noob here, have some questions about Custom ROMS. Posted: 12 Apr 2019 10:07 PM PDT Hi everyone! I've been wanting to flash the Pixel Experience ROM on my Redmi Note 5 Pro (Global) and I have some couple of questions that I still can't answer by myself. First of all, If I unlock the bootloader, flash twrp, then flash any custom rom, can I flash Miui 10 again without locking my device by the antirollback? As of my understading antirollback will only brick your device if you flash an older version of Miui instead of the latest build, is this true? I'm still a bit confused about Redmi Note 5 Pro Global, china and India, I mean, I've been browsing the XDA Forum of the Redmi Note 5 Pro to look for ROMS, and they both mention that the custom ROMS work for both Global and India model, is it like that? Can I assume that If I flash any custom ROM will 3G/4G/Calls work because I have the Global version and it doesn't matter what radios are being flashed? (I ask this because the last time I flashed a ROM was way back in 2014 with a Moto G1 and I had to manually check if the rom was compatible in my country). That's pretty much it, thanks in advance and hope you can help me out guys! :) [link] [comments]

Can't download Netflix on Mi 5s Plus Posted: 12 Apr 2019 12:23 PM PDT Netflix is not available on the play store and if I access using a store URL it says it's not compatible with my device. Anyone know a way to bypass this? Edit: I downloaded the apk on apkmirror.com and now it's working. Thank you all very much! [link] [comments]

What are the apps supported by Game Booster to text in-game? (Ex. WhatsApp, Facebook) Posted: 12 Apr 2019 12:56 PM PDT I used a long time Pixel Experience (for 6 months) and I came back to MIUI a few days ago. I downloaded PUBG like everyone and started playing. By the way, I used the Game Booster(which is new for me) and I saw WhatsApp and Facebook. I pressed WhatsApp and a small window appeared. Great thing. Which are the other apps that can be used like this? [link] [comments]
Slow WiFi in normal mode-Fast WiFi on safe mode[SOLVED] Posted: 12 Apr 2019 04:39 PM PDT I had ookla speed test application installed on my xiaomi phone from google play. It was obvious something I downloaded was slowing my WiFi connection because in safe mode internet was 30mbps while in normal mode I had 2mbps. I uninstalled ookla speed test application while I was in safe mode and it went up to 30mbps. I am not a tech guy I just wanted to share my experience. Edit:Use a trustworthy speed test site on chrome to learn internet speed. Don't use an application. [link] [comments]
Cheapest Mi 9 SE global in EU? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 03:26 PM PDT I would like to buy 2 Mi 9 SE global version phones. I am in Poland right now, what would be the cheapest option for me? I tried searching but I'm not sure if I found the cheapest price. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Xiaomi Mi 9 - Amazon Spain to UK Posted: 12 Apr 2019 08:29 AM PDT Hi guys, I had a Xiaomi Mi A1 and loved it (probably my best phone to date - price to performance wise). Bought a Google Pixel 2 to replace this as it was ridiculously cheap but soon returned it because I was getting 3 hours battery life. I've got a Xiaomi Max 3 now to keep me going and so far loving it but the camera isn't as good as I'd like it to be (it's not bad). I was looking at the Honor View 20, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 9 as my next phone and, although it's not yet released here in the UK, I can get the Xiaomi Mi 9 for the cheapest from Amazon Spain for just under £390. My question is will it work OK in the UK? (Band 20) Thanks [link] [comments]

Netflix not working on redmi note 5 Posted: 12 Apr 2019 02:09 PM PDT Hi! I got a Redmi Note 5 recently, and whenever I try to get Netflix off of Google Play, it doesn't even show up in the search results. The first time I searched for it on Google play, it said that it wasn't compatible with my device. I was hoping a software update would fix it, but nope. I tried to download an app of an older version of Netflix, but it still didn't work. [link] [comments]

Some serious problem had just been happened on my phone. Posted: 12 Apr 2019 07:29 AM PDT Mi A1 (Android One), with Android version 9 (Pie) March 5, 2019 update. I have a problem whenever I'm turning on the Wi-Fi, it suddenly soft-resets first, but worked properly thereafter. After that, I tried to restart the phone in Safe mode, I turned on Wi-Fi, then this happened to me. The phone itself doing a soft-reset loop whenever I put the phone in the Safe mode, and it w9n't allow me to operate the phone in Safe mode. Is this a possible hardware failure? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 07:25 AM PDT This morning I was able to unlock my bootloader using the Mi Flash app from Xiaomi. No problem. I then downloaded TWRP and flashed it to the device using:
Once I was in TWRP I clicked Wipe and 'Wipe All.' Did I just wipe my ROM from the device? When I rebooted the system I am on the Mi startup screen with the "Powered by Android" three dots constantly looping. It doesn't go anywhere now. Did I screw up by clicking "Wipe All?" If so, what can I do to fix my mistake? Thank you! [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Apr 2019 12:07 PM PDT Hello everyone, I bought a Redmi Note 5 on launch day and have been perfectly happy with my phone.Unfortunately, i lost it somewhere and i have been on the search for a new xiaomi phone.Although i do have some cash laying around,my phone usage doesn't really permit buying an expensive phone.I don't play a lot of games and when i do they are platformer games.Camera quality was quite good with Gcam. My question is,should i buy a Redmi Note 5 AI again for 150EUR or is there a better deal for a little more money?Note 6 Pro is about 170EUR and as far as i know it's the same as the 5 just with a notch. Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2019 12:53 AM PDT I had been using a Mi Box 3 for a few years with a Samsung 32 inch LCD TV, but I only wanted a bigger screen. And if I bought a bigger TV, I 'd rather get a 4K one. so I did. Last weekend, I walked into a Mi Home store and bought myself a Mi 55 inch 4K TV and a soundbar. Everything looked super duper at the store. I came back home, waited for the installation to be done and booted into the TV. I was very dissatisfied with 'Patchwall' as the screen was filled with things I don't watch and was in my face, and NO NETFLIX!, which the store guys did NOT tell me about. So I decided to continue using the Mi Box with the TV as I knew everything would continue working but now with a bigger and better screen, and you won't believe what happened next...!!! :-P Only when I use the Mi Box (tried all the HDMI ports), the colours look a little washed out. The saturation isn't good. The red colour of the YouTube logo looks very different from the YouTube logo from the Patchwall screen. I tried adjusting the picture settings in the TV, but realized that would only change the settings only when I use the AndroidTV built into the TV and not any of the HDMI devices. The same Mi Box with the same HDMI cable worked flawlessly on my previous TV. Could there be anything wrong with the HDMI ports (motherboard) in my TV? Can anyone suggest what I can do? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 10:55 AM PDT Hey guys! I just unpacked brand new Xiaomi M365 Scooter. As I've heard great things about CFWs on that model I am wondering which one is the best in your opinion? CFW W/Rollerplausch/DYoC? Oh, it came with 1.4.2, so I can still downgrade right? Can I brick it easily? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
