Should I be worried about how many CCleaner processes build up over time? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:31 PM PDT I find that over time when I leave my laptop on in my task manager the number of CCleaner processes seems to multiply. I was wondering if this is normal behaviour or not. I know that most would recommend that CCleaner is bloatware and I shouldn't have it around but I do tend to use it time to time to clear my download cache often. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Apr 2019 01:44 AM PDT Recently, I have acquired a gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 4GB and upon a fresh install of windows with no driver installations, the GPU displays things just fine using HDMI. However upon checking in GPU-Z the bios shows that it is an AORUS GPU so I flashed the vbios back to stock using the provided rom files on the gigabyte website and mining forums. Each time I used DDU and reinstalled AMD drivers but every single time it goes to AMD Display Drivers, the fans on the gpu would stop spinning and the computer would freeze. Any ideas for a fix? Thank you! Edit: I was also told it was undervolted in Linux, but I assume flashing the bios would reset the voltages. The driver only boots up as Microsoft Basic Display. [link] [comments] |

Windows Server 2012, usb drives randomly stop being recognised Posted: 01 Apr 2019 01:36 AM PDT Hey guys, got a weird one for you. Got a server I do usb backups to (2 different drives, every night) and randomly they stop working and dismount, and show as having an issue with the driver in device manager (yellow exclamation mark). Tried different drives and have the same issue. Can range between 1 day and 2 weeks for it to shit itself. Sometimes can be fixed with a reboot or a usb port change. Hit up HP and they are quite adiment it's not their hardware or software drivers for the motherboard etc. Disabled the AV as well just incase and that hasnt helped. Tested the drives on other machines with no issues and even bought a new one! I installed and reinstalled usb drives within device manager with same issue. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:30 PM PDT Problem: PC overheating while playing games to the point of shutting off. I am using MSI afterburner to monitor temps, not using it to OC (at least as far as I know) GPU gets to around 83C and CPU 80C when it shuts off usually. I recently upgraded to a 1440p monitor, and I noticed my system running warmer as a result, but these temperatures should be fine right? It's really frustrating to have my PC turn off mid game. I'm using a 1-to-1 fan curve in MSI, and when it gets hot the fans are around 3200 rpms, but temps just continue to climb until it shuts itself off. My GPU is vertically mounted with the fan facing the glass, if that's of any importance. Let me know if I forgot anything, any help is appreciated. [WINDOWS 10] Sound stopped working overnight, no idea why. Posted: 31 Mar 2019 08:16 AM PDT So I woke up this morning and opened my laptop, attempted to play a song on spotify and it didn't play, so I checked the sound slider, and to my surprise it said "No Audio Output Device is installed". I googled for a bit and attempted a [fix](https://mspoweruser.com/how-to-fix-the-no-audio-output-device-is-installed-error-after-the-windows-10-update/), but no results, so here I am, kinda frustrated, asking for a solution. Would this help reduce/remove the static from my headset mic? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 01:36 AM PDT I have the Logitech G230 headset and when i plug the 3.5mm jack into the computer and start recording audio it produces a light static sound that is annoying, while noise cancellation does work, it decreases the audio quality way to much to my liking. I'm thinking of using a The Hyper X USB Sound card to remove/reduce the static produced from my headset, but I'm not sure that it would work. [link] [comments] |
Can I run my office work remotely and stream it to me, kinda like Google Stadia? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 12:33 AM PDT I would like to know if there are services that allow me to run resource demanding programs on a cloud and stream the results back to me? Even better would be a combo that allows me to have the response speed of my current computer (pressing buttons, typing etc.) but run all of the heavy processing and stuff online. Since most programs I use are web applications, I would be totally ok with a service that simply runs any web-apps or my browser remotely for me. [link] [comments] |

Recovering google chrome data on hard disk failure Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:03 AM PDT My hard drive failed and had to be replaced due to which all my google chrome data was lost (bookmarks, search history, passwords). I have never logged into chrome and it seems data recovery from the hard disk is impossible which means I have no way of recovering this from my end. I did notice once that google was tracking my searches etc even when I did not log in. Does this mean that my history etc can be accessed through them? I understand that this is essentially clutching at straws as there would be myriad privacy concerns etc even if google does have my data. I was wondering if there is a way along these lines to recover my data (search history at the very least). Thank you for your time! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:03 AM PDT Hi all. So my issue is I've just set up my very first ftp server and anyone who is on my wifi can connect to the server, however anyone else can't connect to my server. I created my FTP server with FileZilla, as it seemed very easy for me to create the server. Any help would be great cheers. [link] [comments] |
SVP (Smooth Video Playback) with MPC-HC and 10 Bit Videos Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:02 AM PDT I have SVP installed and whenever I play something which is a 10 bit video in MPC-HC, there is no sound whatsoever. However, when I play the same video in VLC where there is no SVP, the audio works. Also even if I play the video in MPC-HC without SVP, audio still doesn't work. [link] [comments] |

Asus Z97-A/USB3.1 Will no Longer Get Past POST Posted: 31 Mar 2019 11:55 PM PDT Hello all, My main PC will no longer POST. Here are my specs: CPU - i7 - 4790K MOBO - Asus Z97-A/USB3.1 RAM - 32GB G.Skill DDR3 PSU - Corsair HX750 GPU - GTX 970 and Intel on CPU Storage - SSDs and HDDs OS - Win 10 Pro I have been building PCs for over 15 years now. I always leave my PC powered on and I was using it today. I stepped away for 30 minutes and when I came back, all of my monitors was powered off except my main display. The main display was on, but only showing black. Moving the mouse or hitting anything on the keyboard wouldn't wake it up. I also tried pinging it by IP address from other PCs in the house and didn't get a response. I ended up powering it off and turned it back on. I had enabled PXE booting in the BIOS cause i use it from time to time, so that option ROM is enabled. It showed me the Intel PXE boot settings prompt like normal, but afterwards would not show the POST screen or anything else. I rebooted a few more times with the same results. I then decided to enter the PXE boot settings just to see if the worked. I was able to get in and saw that it would use the BIOS boot order. After another reboot or two, I decided to power it down and clear the CMOS. With the PC powered off, I moved the clear CMOS jumper and left it for 10-15 seconds before moving it back. Next, I turned on the computer. After about 15 seconds It showed the ASUS BIOS splash screen in full screen mode, so I know the BIOS settings were cleared successfully, cause I disable the POST splash screen so I can see all the information the MOBO is showing. Even after waiting 5-10 minutes, I still was sitting at the splash screen where is says "Hit Del or F2 to get to BIOS Settings" Neither one of those keys work. I have tried several keyboards in USB 3.1, 3.0, and 2.0 ports. I have tried a Corsair K95 keyboard, a Logitech g710+, and an old PS2 keyboard. None of them are able to get into the BIOS. I also noticed that I can change the state of Numlock when I power on the computer, but once it shows the BIOS splash screen, I can no longer change the Numlock state. Also, hitting ctrl, alt, and del won't reboot the PC. At this point I decided to see if it would give me beep codes if I removed all the RAM. After removing all the RAM and turning on the computer, is was doing the RAM error beep code, so that lead me to think the board is good. I ended moving the PC into the living room to work on better. I ended up taking the MOBO out of the case and removing all the dust from all of the components and the case. I have tested the following: (note - all cables/storage devices/GTX 970 were all removed from the system during the testing performed below) The only things plugged in are the 24 pin ATX connector, the EPS connector, only 1 keyboard at a time that is either PS2 or USB, and the VGA connector on the board for my display.
I don't have any spare MOBOs/CPUs to try at the moment. I'm kinda at a loss to know what to try next. I'm planning on calling Asus tomorrow, but idk what they will be able to do. I visually inspected the MOBO and didn't see anything off hand that was damaged. The only thing that looks off about the board, is that it looks slightly warped. I ended up installing it back in the case and screwed it down. It still wouldn't get past POST, either. One last thing, yes I do i have the standoffs installed. I bought all the components during Black Friday in 2015. It has been working great up until today. Please let me know if you can think of anything else I could try. I think I may end up buying a replacement MOBO from eBay if I can't get this to work as I don't want to buy a new board/CPU/RAM right now. I don't see how this could be a Windows issue since the MOBO won't even get past POST and I don't have any storage devices plugged in. Thanks for your time! [link] [comments] |
Composite device can't work properly with USB 3.0 Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:40 AM PDT Hi, this issue started a month ago but I didn't think much about, but now my mouse starts freezing alot! I did a troubleshoot with it and I got Composite device can't work properly with USB 3.0. The thing is its connected in a USB 2.0. I tried literally every single port, I tried u installing the ports from device manager, the ones under serial bus thingy. And the first one I uinstalled was the 3.0 host (seen in the screenshot) and every single port got disabled. Any ideas on how can I fix it? I even tried to make a pc restart, wiped almost everything. i cant find usb root 2.0 when it's in View/devices by connection but I can when it's in view/devices by type [link] [comments] |

Question about windows shortut error Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:28 AM PDT Edit: The post for more info https://www.reddit.com/r/FortniteCompetitive/comments/b5tat1/smoother_gameplay_on_multithreaded_cpus/?utm_source=reddit-android Some background: So i found a method of boosting your FPS on fortnite by optimising the CPU to do a lot more work i guess? It requires me to change a string.of 1's and.0's to optimise for your CPU. But when i am done and. Copy the "target" and want to make a shortcut for it. When i try to open it it says that i had an error and to check if the path was right. I saw that there was an error in the path. It went on like this "ProgramFiles,Epic Games, Fortnite etc." When i checked the path i saw that after opening epic games file the Fortnite file was missing. So i found the file and put it in the epic games file. I checked the rest and it was fine. So shouldn't this fix the path? I still get the same error, i can't open the shortcut. Will this work if i don't use the shortcut and just open the game manually from the files? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:27 AM PDT I have a 64 GB Samsung Flash Drive that is unreadable. I did not use it to boot a Linux distro but what happened was that i was formatting it and suddenly my laptops battery finished. After that when i plugged in my laptop and checked the usb it showed this: Now you might say that this is a typical corrupted drive but its not i tried booting up diskpart and it just wouldn't start i think it wasn't able to read the drive and after a while of leaving diskpart on my pc just hanged and i had to force shutdown. I tried various programs such as disk management all of them 'Stopped Responding'. Any help? [link] [comments] |

How to prevent Akamai installer_no_upload_silent.exe from stealing focus? Posted: 31 Mar 2019 11:33 PM PDT It happens every few hours, it will steal focus twice consecutively. It always alt tabs me out of whatever game I play, which is really annoying. How can I revoke privileges of screen focus? If I cannot, should I uninstall Akamai Netsession Interface? Thanks.
