Posted: 12 Apr 2019 02:57 AM PDT So, here is a app on Google Play store with a million download. Its crap, but people love it. It's a cross platform app, even though developer claims it to be native. There is no similar app on the play store. I was thinking of developing similar app and putting it on app store. I can do a much better job. Do you think this is ethical? [link] [comments] |
Is there an app like pocket, but for web comics? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 08:18 AM PDT Please excuse my weird writing style, English is not my first language - therefore I have problems describing exactly what I have in mind. I'm looking for an app that fetches all my webcomics and shows them to me in one place. Something like the pocket reader does for text. I'm kinda annoyed by clicking through all the webcomic pages. Thanks for your interest and help, hope you all have a nice weekend. Greetings from North Germany! [link] [comments] |

[DEV] I released my first Android app! Looking for feedback Posted: 12 Apr 2019 07:02 AM PDT Hey everyone! My app just got approved by the Play Store a few hours ago. It's called Wuzzat and I developed it to help identify all things unknown. Just simply take a picture of the object in question and leave it to the users to tell you what you found. If you have the time and could give any feedback on things like the idea in general, design, functionality, etc. I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!! [link] [comments] |

[Question] Is there a word memory game? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 09:42 AM PDT TLDR: bad memory with words, I want an app that helps. (not crossword.) Bit of backstory, I tend to forget proper nouns like names of actors or movies or even words (basic words when I'm pretty tired), but when playing a brain game I found on the android store, a mini game that I played for a few days really improved my name memory and I wish there was a stand-alone version of the game. In the app Elevate there's a mini game where it shows a bit of the word, the definition, and then gives you a choice of like 10 letters to try and type it in. I know that crosswords kind of have this same function, but it doesn't have the two features of the word already being a bit filled in and if I don't know the word I can skip it instead of it ruining the whole puzzle. Besides cross words are more puzzles than a memory test. EX: E _ H _ _ S _ The black smoke that exits the muffler of a car A I U X T R Y (<-- those are the type options, so not a whole keyboard) I'm a developer myself ( Shameless Plug ) but I'm not good with JSON api's so I'm a little too inexperienced to make it myself. Any recommendations? [link] [comments] |
Any way to change the recommended videos back to related videos on YouTube app? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 11:41 AM PDT The videos that would appear there used to be related to the video you're currently watching. Now it's just the same videos YouTube was trying to show me on the homescreen, my 'recommendations.' I can only assume this is another terrible decision by YouTube, but maybe I changed something on accident in the settings? I looked through though and don't think so. Does anyone know any possible way to change it back to 'related videos?' [link] [comments] |
Fractoid 1.3.7 - can't edit wallpaper images Posted: 12 Apr 2019 08:25 AM PDT Hi all, I am using a very old Mandelbrot generation app called Fractoid that has not been updated since 2011 (developer David Byrne, you'll have to Google the APK because it's not available on any of the trusted sites in this thread. I found one on apk20). I use it because it produces the most stunning Mandelbrot images I have ever seen, and I love having them as wallpapers on my phone. But since the app is so old, I'm having the following problems: - When I select 'set as wallpaper', it works but I have no option to move, re-orient, re-size, crop or otherwise edit the image. That means the placement is automatic and I can't change it, and I can't figure out where the image is stored on the phone to do it manually. This is the main problem. - When I select 'save image', in an effort to set the wallpaper and adjust the images manually, no confirmation or error message appears, and I don't know if it worked or where the image might be on my phone. - When I select 'share fractal', no matter which option I choose (Photos, Google Drive, text, e-mail, messaging apps, etc.) I get error messages and the image is not available for sharing, so I can't save the image anywhere else. If anyone can figure out where the app might be storing images, or ways of manually adjusting the image after it has been set as a wallpaper, I would be eternally grateful. Brent. [link] [comments] |

Who made Microsoft Launcher icons impossibly to select? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 11:59 AM PDT Am I the only one who feels like there's a different threshold for long pressing on the Microsoft Launcher? What's up with this insanely low sensitivity? Evie, Niagara, Nova, stock... pressing the icons feels broadly similar in all of these launchers. Am I an idiot? Is there a way to change this setting that I don't know about? [link] [comments] |

GPS tracking app that only updates the location when it is requested Posted: 12 Apr 2019 07:19 AM PDT I'm searching for a free android GPS tracker (or location) app for my family that only updates my location when someone of my family opens their app and requests my location. I don't need a GPS history or so as this just drains my battery too much. That's why I want my location just to be updated when it is requested by someone. Does anybody know such an application? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Why should I use a VPN, and which one should I get? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 10:54 AM PDT Trying to get better about privacy, backups, saved info, etc. Backups and saved info I got down, but now I'm working on general privacy, and why I should use a VPN. If you can recommend one that's also good for windows so I can use it on my desktop and Surface, all the better. [link] [comments] |

[DEV] As first real android app I made a brain-breaking puzzle app Posted: 12 Apr 2019 06:20 AM PDT Hi all, I learned myself android development the past year and recently published my very first decent android game! It is my second app I publish after a small quiz as test. The game is called Power of 3 and is a brain-breaking puzzle game. Basically u have a raster of tiles where u can place 1's. When three consecutive tiles have the same number these numbers are added up and are placed on the last tile touched. So when u have three 1's these are added up to one 3, when u have three 3's these are added up to one 9.... This goes on until your raster is full when it is game over. U can find the app in the play store ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.something.robbe.powerof3 ), so everyone who wants to test their puzzle skills can always try it out! ;) [link] [comments] |

Android app lister that lists *all* apps, including system apps. Posted: 12 Apr 2019 08:32 AM PDT I have what ought to be a trivial problem. I want an app that scans my device, determines what apps are installed, and creates a list I can dump to a file for further processing. I've looked at an assortment. The problem is, they list apps that can be installed/removed via the package manager, but *don't* list apps installed as System apps. Vendors tend to preinstall stuff as bloatware, and too often install it as System apps you can't remove unless rooted. On the device I'm configuring now, I *am* rooted, but the issue remains. In this case, the vendor installed Chrome as a System app. It's something I might install anyway, so I don't mind, but not having it show in a generated apps listing is a WTF? moment. Does anyone know of an app that meets my criteria? Open source preferred, freeware second, but I'll *pay* for an app that does what I want. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Any way to combine Textra notifications? Posted: 12 Apr 2019 08:04 AM PDT Been on Textra for a while but one thing that keeps bugging me is how every message that comes in shows up as a separate icon in the notification tray. I know some other apps (e.g. Messages, Pulse) don't do this: the icon changes slightly to show that there are more than one, but it doesn't take up the whole tray. Is there a Textra setting I'm missing here? On the Pro beta version. I should note that this is more about aesthetics than function: I'm not popular enough to get a whole row of texts at once :P [link] [comments] |

App suggestion: Force-stop app from notification shade aka pulldown menu Posted: 12 Apr 2019 07:48 AM PDT Looking for an app to force stop aka kill running apps from the pull-down notification shade. Is there anything out there like this? Thank you! Tldr: looking for app to show running apps in the pull-down shade and be able to force-stop aka kill them. I know the consequences, don't want to use greenify or anything automatic, just want to kill apps like telegram (on demand) that don't have an exit option in their menu and that keep running in the background when I don't want them to (e.g. when I'm at work or want to save battery life). I know I can force-stop them through info but that's not as easy as what I'm asking for. [link] [comments] |
