Weird screen-bleeding effect after Android 9 update? Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:57 PM PDT Only noticed this today after updating to Android 9 a few days ago. Had the phone for several months already with no problem. It's an Honor 9. When displaying bright colours, there's a weird discolouration effect - a yellowish stain about 1cm long on the right edge of the screen. Restarting doesn't fix the issue, neither does changing EMUI's theme. The weird discolouration isn't there when the screen is off or when it is displaying dark colours, which is making me think it's screen bleeding. But the timing is odd, could this be a software issue or is it hardware? [link] [comments] |
[LG G6] Internal storage running low, and moving items to SD card doesn't help much. Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:59 PM PDT Hey. I'm having some storage issues, and I've only got 32gb to play with (64gb SD). The main problem children are a game, which after several updates has reached ~5gb, and my offline music, 1gb. My music is "on the SD card", but still taking up space on internal. I've also "moved to SD" the game, but it's still taking up 5gb. Is this normal? [link] [comments] |
HELP!!!! Baseband /Modem needed for my MOTO E 2nd gen Posted: 30 Apr 2019 12:20 PM PDT Hello everyone. Terribly desperate right now. I need help. I live in Africa and I got a 2nd gen moto E (XT1511) imported from the USA. Its the 3G variant of the phone and I expected it to give me 3G speeds without any hitches here in my country where 3G is basically ubiquitous. However its been on EDGE (2G) since the moment I inserted my sim card. Changing locations from home to work made no difference. It appears the problem is due to different bands being used for 3G in the US (850/1900mhz) from the bands being used in my country (2100mhz) Can anyone help me with a link to a firmware version of the phone that supports 2100mhz UMTS? Scoured XDA but mostly dual sim and US firmware variants exist there. I flashed a dual sim Brazil rom but my phone couldn't even connect to the local network. HELP!!!!!!!! [link] [comments] |
Receiving group messages from iPhones? Inbox is complete chaos! Posted: 30 Apr 2019 08:12 PM PDT I've put off this issue for too long, although I've tried to solve it more than once in the past. I have a Galaxy Note 8. Here's what happens; I receive what should be group chat messages as individual texts from each unique sender. I know this happens for certain with messages from iPhone users (using iMessage). I haven't had a chance to see if it's an issue with an Android-only group chat. Additionally when I send a group message recipients receive my texts as if I sent them specifically to them (as in it isn't part of a group chat). Needless to say this has made chaos of my inbox and has made communicating with groups all but impossible. I do not recall having this issue ever before. I've only owned Androids too (mostly Galaxy's). I did switch networks with my current phone, it's AT&T firmware (or w/e) but now I'm on T-mobile but I cannot recall if this became an issue after the fact. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:08 PM PDT I have an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (SM-T230NU) that is in a complicated OS state. It is part unsuccessfully rooted, part virus-infected (Kingroot), and part normal. The normal part is Android 4.4.2. It still functions, but I would like to reinstall the Android OS. Here's the problem: I don't know how. [link] [comments] |
Will an international dual sim S10+ work with UK and US sim? Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:48 PM PDT Will this work with a Three sim card (UK) and a Metro PCS (US) sim card? I want to keep my UK number but live in the states. If it only supports one of the other, the UK number takes priority. The Three sim is in a contracted SIM for a Samsung S9+, damaged hence replacing and the Metro PCS one is in some $60 spare phone I bought online. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:37 PM PDT Is there a browser or extension that allows users to force a website to zoom out and or scroll directionally? I regularly find myself on web pages that cannot be scrolled directionally and have links or data off the edge of the screen. [link] [comments] |
How is this refresh of the new share menu in Android Q gonna work? Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:19 AM PDT I heard they said that in Android Q they have made the share menu instant and smooth as they fixed that hot mess, and they said that they have done it by making the loading of things inside it be before-hand. My question is: how much before hand is it? Like when the system is booted up, the app is opened or when the pic/file is opened? [link] [comments] |
Huawei P30 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e? Posted: 30 Apr 2019 09:13 PM PDT Upgrading my phone soon, can't decide which to get. Currently have a Samsung Galaxy S8. I can either use a trade in promotion to get 350 dollars credit towards the 128gb P30 (which is priced at 200 currently) or get 150 dollars credit towards the 256gb S10e (which is priced at 250). Does anyone have recommendations? [link] [comments] |
OnePlus 6 + Facebook Messenger Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:57 PM PDT For a while now, pretty much as long as I've had my OnePlus 6, Facebook Messenger has been giving me multiple notifications for the same message. Firstly, a message from the "chat-head" pops up and then the same message appears as a drop down notification from the top of the screen. It's not a massive problem but it's starting to get on my nerves for sure. Has anyone else had this issue? Anyone know of a fix? [link] [comments] |
White on White Nav Bar in some Google Apps Posted: 30 Apr 2019 04:53 PM PDT
With a recent update, in some google apps, the nav bar is white on white, which is almost invisible except for the barest outlines on the bottom of the icons. Is there any way to fix this without installing a 3rd party app? Here's a screenshot of what it looks like in the google assistant (squeeze) search: https://i.imgur.com/tHJexr0.jpg I've tried "dark mode" but it doesn't have any affect on the nav bar in these apps. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2019 08:09 PM PDT I just checked my battery stats and see that Pandora has active usage for pretty much the entire time my phone has been off the charger, even though it's been used for maybe 3 hours. My battery hasn't taken a huge hit, maybe 6%....but it has active usage recorded of like 16 hours for Pandora. Anyone else seeing this? [link] [comments] |
Visual voicemail in stock android app missing suddenly Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:51 PM PDT Rooted LeEco LE Pro 3 running Lineage OS 7.0 (cannot update it for some reason, but thats not really the issue here..). Today both my phone and my brothers lost their visual voicemail along with the favorites. The option to slide over to my voicemails is gone. Is anyone else experiencing this and may anyone have a fix? Tried updating the phone app to the latest version as I do not have auto updating on, my brother does. Both phones are running Phone version 3.00.00 com.android.dialer The google version of the app, Phone, is running version 31 something from com.google.android.dialer and does not show my voicemails either. Is there some service down? [link] [comments] |
Trying to use an old Alcatel my friend game me a couple years back. Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:44 PM PDT I have this old Alcatel phone that my friend gave me a couple years back I wanted to try using it because my current one isn't doing too hot. I just want to know how to truly reset it. Whenever I factory reset it, it still asks me for an email that was used before it was reset and my friend doesn't know the email and I never used it before now. If anyone could shed some light on the situation, that would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:40 PM PDT I recently got an Android after years of being an iPhone user (I got the Samsung Galaxy S10e). While there are many things I love about my new phone, one of the things I'm really struggling with is getting used to typing on it. I used to be able to practically type an essay on my iPhone without much of a struggle - the phone seemed to always know how to predict what I wanted to type and rarely suggested words that I wasn't wanting to type. If anything, if it didn't correct a word I was trying to type it would just come out as a misspelled word and still know which one to suggest in its place. I feel like every keyboard I've used on my new phone has given me a struggle. I can't type as quickly or comfortably as I used to without getting a slew of typos I have to keep correcting. I first tried Swiftkey and it was a nightmare - with every other word I tried to type, it would just fully automate words I WASN'T wanting to type and then I'd have to keep going back and erasing them. I then tried the stock Samsung one and while it was a bit better, I kept hitting the numbers at the top of the keys and putting them into my words, which started to get extremely annoying. I'm now trying Fleksy and it's not amazing but I suppose it's better than the other two. What about the Google keyboard? Is this one better? Does anyone have any other suggestions? This is really starting to frustrate me, especially when I'm on the go and sending a quick message to someone. It feels like it takes me twice as long as it did with my iPhone. [link] [comments] |
Tab S4 will not look for updates. Stuck on "registering device" Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:26 PM PDT So my Sm-t830 would not look for updates. It would stay on "connecting to server" where eventually I would get "unable to update the software a network or server error occurred". Ok, tried wiping cache partition. Still wouldn't work. So I did a factory reset thru recovery. Tried again but now I'm just getting a "registering device" which eventually leads to a "registration failed". Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Custom Version under "About Phone" Posted: 30 Apr 2019 03:31 PM PDT Hi, I recently bought a (brand new) Honor 8X from an online store (I'm based in Belgium). It would not upgrade to the new Android 9. It has rolled out in Belgium, so I'm kinda stumped my device would not update. I checked the system information and saw a line "Custom Version CUSTC432D1". I'm a noob concerning technical Android details, and I was wondering:
Thanks so much for your information! [link] [comments] |
Contacts not Displaying when calls come in Posted: 30 Apr 2019 03:22 PM PDT Samsung S8 Active with AT&T. When calls come in, only the phone number displays but not the name of my contact. Checked the phone app and caller ID was selected. Tried reentering the contact. Any one else have this issue? Any ideas of a fix? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Need help regarding messages failing to send at around the same time of day every day. Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:50 PM PDT Sorry if this isn't the right sub for this kind of question. I got a galaxy s10 when they came out (old one was an s6 so I figured it was time) and I decided with the fresh start I'd try a new messaging app. I researched a few and landed on Pulse. I really like many of its features and want to continue using it, but the past few weeks I have had a seriously annoying issue. Seemingly every single day around when I get home from work (between 4pm and 5pm central US) I cannot send text messages. Every single time it fails to send, regardless of what app I am using (default or Pulse). I try turning wifi off, I try restarting the phone, etc. Eventually, some couple hours later, it works again. Has anyone had similar issues and does anyone have a way to solve this or know what's going on? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Apr 2019 06:12 PM PDT Whenever I select install, a 2 sec progress bar will appear and then it will revert back to the Install button. I already cleared the cached of the app but still cant download any apps. Any of you guys were able to fix this? [link] [comments] |
How do I backup my phone to my PC without a USB cable? Posted: 30 Apr 2019 10:03 AM PDT I have a Samsung A5 2017 and the charging port isn't working correctly. I am having it repaired tomorrow so I want to create a back-up of all my data, but because the charging port is broken I can't do it by USB cable. I need a way to back it up over wifi / Bluetooth. How do I do this? [link] [comments] |
What is the perceived goal of not allowing screenshots in incognito mode? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 10:52 PM PDT I am already wishy-washy with android because I just get sucked into the Google ecosystem. this move seems like you have to "prove" you were on a site in order to obtain a screenshot. what am I missing?
