Internet disconnecting every 10 seconds, not ISP related Posted: 29 Mar 2019 12:40 AM PDT My internet is constantly disconnecting every 10 seconds and its not due to my router or ISP, as there is another person in my house using the internet without disconnects of any kind. I've changed cable, changed LAN port on the router and rolled back the i219-V driver. Apart from that, I'm not sure what to do. I'd rather not buy a USB-Ethernet adapter but if there is nothing else I can try I guess I'll have to. Update: It was my wifi card somehow interrupting the quality of my ethernet. The wifi card for some reason would cause frequent disconnects from ethernet. Disabling the wificard solved the problem. [link] [comments] |
Can I display Xbox 360 output through Windows? Posted: 28 Mar 2019 10:53 PM PDT I want to display my Xbox 360's output through windows so I can play it and screenshare to my friends on Discord. I don't own a capture cars and I'm not exactly in any position to be buying anything, so if anyone has a free (if possible in the first place) way of doing this, that would be cool as hell. My SSD Drive is SEVERELY underperforming Posted: 28 Mar 2019 07:26 AM PDT So basically my 480gb Kingston SSD is underperforming, sitting at around the 28 percentile on userbenchmark, and im not sure why. Some help would really be appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments] |
Phone likes killing things while sleeping. Posted: 28 Mar 2019 07:35 PM PDT Blackview Bv9500, Android 8.1 Problem started soon after I got the phone. Music is one example. It will play while the screen is on, but will shut off ten seconds after the screen goes dark. Sometimes the song skips, sometimes the app is killed completely. Same with audio books. Same with gps navigation. It will run fine as long as the screen is on, but soon after the screen goes off the app closes out. Google maps timeline still works somehow. I've been checked all the battery saver settings, and have granted all kinds of exemptions. And stuff. Still does it. Could it be a rogue app? Alarms work (Thankfully!) I get calls and texts. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Note: If I wake the phone and get the music going quick enough after it happens it keeps working with the screen off until I turn the screen off and on again. New PC, was working critical error, BSOD, doesnt recognize ssd. Posted: 29 Mar 2019 01:25 AM PDT The pc is new and it was our first time bulding one so the ssd was kinda of in a weird position inside the case(we had no way to secure it so we let it on top of some metal sheet on the front of the case. Turned on, installed windows, everything was fine. Until i got a critical process died, blue screen of death tried to turn it on and it goes to the bios and it only shows the hdd, doesnt show the ssd with windows on hit. May it have been disconnected? May it have fried? [link] [comments] |
I have malware and I don't know what to do. Posted: 29 Mar 2019 03:03 AM PDT Hello, I'm currently on Windows 10 and I currently have Avast Internet Security on my computer. My PC has been acting strange lately. When I go on YouTube, for instance, the text will often get corrupted and sort of... 'jumble up'; text from titles or comments on a previous YouTube video will randomly be shoved on to the beginnings of another YouTube video's title or comments and merge them. Avast is also acting strange as well. It says my virus definitions are out of date but it fails to be able to update them when I try to. I did a scan earlier with Avast and it located three files that it thought were malware and it removed them. On all subsequent scans, there has been one file left. Anything I try doing it with Avast does nothing; if I try to remove it, it will return at once. Any help would be very greatly appreciated. EDIT #1: The malware file is in Program Files (x86)/BRTSvc. There are .dll, .exe, .x64, .dat, and .tmp files in the folder. [link] [comments] |
Recovered my stolen laptop after 2 weeks. Is there a way to see what the thief was up to??? Posted: 28 Mar 2019 10:43 PM PDT A few weeks ago my whole backpack was stolen an I had accepted that I would never see my beloved HP spectre ever again. Then an old man messages me on Facebook saying he found my laptop in an alley where people frequently dump stolen items. The whole chain of events is really weird and I'm desperate to know what happened? And how did my laptop survive the rain??? Is there anyway to know if how and what the thief used my laptop for now that I have it back and it's still working (miraculously)? Edit: Maybe this is the wrong subreddit. Feel free to recommend where I should take this story. [link] [comments] |

Ran the UserBenchmark test and concerned with the results Posted: 29 Mar 2019 01:23 AM PDT Recently built my own PC by taking some parts out of an old computer and putting it into a new one. The RX 580 is one of the new parts i got but my hard drive and CPU were both taken from the old computer. My old computer was an Alienware x51 R3 so the parts are a few years old. Anyways what most concerns me is my hard drive since it got such a low performance score. I ran the chkdsk /f process which ran fine but used the UserBenchmark afterwards and got the same results. Gaming hasnt been bad except for some stutter issues on graphic heavy games. Regardless i'm still concerned and was hoping for some help, any appreciated. Found my old iPad 2 on iOS 9.3.5 and it says to connect to iTunes Posted: 29 Mar 2019 12:34 AM PDT I recently dug up an old iPad 2 I had years ago and there's a message saying that I must connect it to iTunes to unlock it. The problem is that iTunes is asking me to respond on the iPad to connect it which I obviously cannot do as it is locked. Is there any way to get around this or remove the passcode entirely? I'm sure it's possible now as it is running such an old iOS version Getting any potential photos on it would be appreciated too if a passcode bypass isn't possible [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Mar 2019 12:28 AM PDT Does anyone know how to extract image files from games downloaded off Steam? I am playing theHunter: Call of the Wild and am trying to get the clean version of different park logos but sadly I cannot find them anywhere online. We know the community managers have them, but they like to keep them for themselves and only share them with their buddies. Anyone know how I can go about ripping them from the game files? I am using a Windows based PC, by the way. [link] [comments] |

Something wrong with whatsapp file Posted: 29 Mar 2019 03:40 AM PDT Hey there, everyone! So there's an issue that was bothering me for a while. At my home laptop (win 10) I work in photoshop and sometimes people send me files through whatsapp and photoshop won't open them giving an error so I have to convert them into PNG for example. Well, not a big deal, but caught my attention. Then at the office where I work there's a guy who uses mac and he couldn't print a photo which was sent through whatsapp. He presses print, the printer blinks for a second and nothing happens. No errors or alerts. Like it's okay. Other pictures print fine. But when he forwarded me the picture it printed just fine. So I was wondering is it something that whatsapp does to images or the issues is somewhere else? [link] [comments] |
Internet not working despite saying it's connected, need to use VPN to access anything Posted: 29 Mar 2019 03:37 AM PDT In a nutshell, internet has suddenly gone nuts. Websites won't connect, games won't play online, but according to my laptop I am fully connected to the internet. I have tried a lot of the basics including flushing DNS and trying to release IPs, as well as going to Network Centre and ensuring IP and DNS are on 'connect automatically' and not manual. I have reset my router via the reset button (Its a NowTv 2 Router) but there's nothing happening. What else do I do and could it be the router settings? Not even consoles are working online [link] [comments] |

Internet constantly dropping on my laptop Posted: 29 Mar 2019 03:34 AM PDT So the internet on my laptop keeps dropping, despite the signal being full and it states that I'm still connect to my router and i have to disconnect and reconnect to my router for the internet to work again, I don't think that this problem is router or ISP related because it's not the case on my other devices. So what can i do to solve this? [link] [comments] |
An Avast SecureLine VPN popup at the bottom annoys so much Posted: 29 Mar 2019 03:15 AM PDT Hello. I've bought Avast Premier and Cleanup Premium. I do not need any more Avast products. All was fine. But soon I saw a very, VERY annoying popup at the bottom. It said "Your IP address is visible" or "Your location is visible" and offers me to buy their SecureLine. I use Windscribe as VPN and it works very well for me. I don't want to pay for SecureLine to just close that popup because it will not close until you pay for that product. How can I disable that super annoying popup? [link] [comments] |

How to check dead/faulty wifi card Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:57 AM PDT Got an old Haier Ai7 Celeron U2300 Dual Core laptop. Been running since 2010. Been using NeverWare CloudReady (ChromeOS) on it for a few months, then suddenly no wifi. Wifi toggle icon won't stay on. Removed CloudReady and installed MX Linux. No joy. Tried the following commands to check, but none seem to confirm the health of the wifi card. From old info think its an Intel Centrino Wireless N-1000 (Condor Peak); Driver iwlwifi; IF wlp2s0. Ques. What CLI commands should I use to determine the wifi cards health? Failing that what should be looked for if need to open up the PC? If all fails could buy a cheap USB adapter, but might as well get a new machine. Thanks

Question: How to play audio on one old Mac through another old mac. Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:54 AM PDT Probably wont find an answer to this as it is very specific. But I thought I may give it a shot. Bit of backstory so you know where I am coming from: For those unfamiliar, Apple used to make these "Apple Pro Speakers" for their PowerMacs. These speakers use a special port called the "Apple Speaker Mini-Jack" and apple stopped putting it on their macs when the G5 came out. These speakers sound amazing and I would love to use them. Don't ask why, but I use a PowerMac G5 Quad as my desktop and I want to use these speakers with it. However the only options I could find were cutting off the Mini-Jack and wiring a usb amplifier to it (which I would be glad to do if there was a good tutorial online) or using this iFire adapter. I ended up going for option 2 and spending an absurd amount of money for it. The adapter broke after a week. Question: I can use these speakers with an older powermac G4 that I have, but the thing is too slow for what I do. What I want to know is if it is possible to play audio on my PowerMac G5, but have the sound come out of the PowerMac G4. These machines are both running Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard. I found a piece of software called AirFoil that does the job, but it has a solid two seconds of latency, which is not ideal. [link] [comments] |
SSD transfer - simple question? Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:53 AM PDT Last summer I bought a Samsung Evo 860 500gb SSD for my Alienware M17x R4 gaming laptop. I recently purchased an Alienware Aurora R8, and was wondering how complex it would be to transfer the Evo 860 from the laptop to desktop. The SSD was only used for a few games (WoW, Overwatch, Rust and The Sims) while my OS remained on the HDD. Once transferred, I would like to move the OS on my Aurora to the SSD, but I'm hesitant to do it in case I make a mess! [link] [comments] |
Is this a HDD issue, or a RAM issue? Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:51 AM PDT I've got an Acer Nitro 5 ( AN515-53-52FA/Windows 10 ) that I bought several months back, and it worked well enough to exceed my expectations on really the only game I play (GTA V, FiveM); I was able to run high graphics at 60fps or higher, and my Laptop remained cool the whole time. Flash forward a few months, I've noticed that the power of my laptop has severely decreased- and for a short period of time my gpu fan went out, and I was dumb enough to continue running it at temperatures at excess of 99 Celsius. At this point, the fans are all working but I've noticed something quite odd that I haven't been able to figure out due to my fairly limited tech skills. Alright, so I have 8 gb of ram and a 1 terabyte hard drive. I noticed now, with only Firefox running in the background that my memory usage spikes to 95%; this is after I have removed all non-essential start up tasks, and disabling them in the task scheduler. One thing that narrows it down, is that when my Memory does exceed that point my Disk space jumps to 100% usage while utilizing a service called Pagefile.sys To my understanding, that is used when you run out of RAM and it has to draw from the hard drive? I guess to sum up my question, is this something that could be considered a Memory leak or a faulty hard drive? OTHER INFO. I opened up Intel Xtreme Tuning Utility, and figured out that I was being thermal throttled due to the heat of my PC; it also says I'm being level throttled or something. Perhaps this could lead to the issues with both the HDD and RAM? I attempted to under-clock, and that greatly reduced the heat of my laptop- which lead to me discovering the high ram usage, and the spike within the disk space.. Am I going to be able to just get a thermal paste, clean out the laptop and toss another 8 gigs in and be good? [link] [comments] |
Wake on Lan only works immediately after turning PC off. Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:51 AM PDT Hi, Hope someone can help me out. I've enabled WOL on my PC. And use a phone app to send the magic packet. The phone app is sending the magic packet over WAN via port 9. Now at home when I turn off my PC, I disable Wifi on my phone. Send the magic packet over Mobile Data, PC turns on fine. So I log in, shut down the PC and go to work. When I try the exact same thing from work hours later it won't turn on. I'm RDP'ing into my PC from work. Works fine if I leave the PC on. When I get home WOL hasn't turned on my PC. I've made sure to disable power saving in the windows power options, and I've made sure to untick the box that lets the PC turn of my NIC to save power. Anyone got any other ideas? [link] [comments] |
Can't run .bat files on Windows 10 Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:47 AM PDT Hi!My job requires me to use some .bat files every now and then. I've recently updated to Windows 10 only to discover that they no longer work. Even when trying to run as administrator, the cmd prompt will open and close after a second, without writing any lines. After googling I've seen and tried the following:
I'm running windows 10 home edition. [link] [comments] |
