Two different pairs of fake Mi In-Ear earbuds from AliExpress Posted: 04 Feb 2019 11:44 AM PST I ordered these a while back from two different AliExpress sellers, out of curiosity more than anything, and both arrived at the same time by sheer coincidence. They were advertised as "Piston 3" and cost between $5.5 and $6. Unsurprisingly both were fakes. They differed slightly from one another mainly in the packaging department, so I made an Imgur album showing them. Make sure to read the image descriptions. They sound worse than the (later discovered those were fakes too) LG QuadBeat 2's that I used to replace every few months due to broken connections or blown drivers, those were at least passable. Just like the last pair of LGs I got, the fake Xiaomis have slightly noticeably uneven left and right channels. [link] [comments] |

Mi Max 3 US Carrier Compatibility? Posted: 04 Feb 2019 08:14 PM PST Who here has a Mi Max 3 working in the US? What Carrier, and what type of coverage? (2G, 3G, 4G, etc.) I bought the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (GLOBAL) from GearBest. I'm located in the US and am wondering what network it works on. Not speculation like I see on the forums, but personal experiences. I see Kimovil, FrequencyCheck, and Gishan show the bands and such. I bought the phone with the assumption that since it's compatible with the network that it would work... Guess I should've read more. I have sprint. Swapping SIMs didn't work. Updating APN settings didnt work either. Called Sprint and they can't activate it because the IMEI isnt valid for them. I've read conflicting information on whether it works on Verizon or not. Testing a friend's SIM it didn't work plug & play, we didn't call the VZW though. TL;DR What network does Mi Max 3 work on in the US? [link] [comments] |
My Mi A2 Lite barely lasts 2 hours and it corrupted my SD Card. Posted: 04 Feb 2019 02:58 PM PST Suddenly my Mi A2 Lite lasts 2 hours instead of 15. The battery usage literally shows nothing. My SD Card stopped working and won't format as well. Ampere Screenshot of battery discharge Note: I just factory reset it a month ago. [link] [comments] |

WiFi Disconnection Issues On Poco F1 Posted: 04 Feb 2019 10:39 PM PST I just got a Poco F1 and I've noticed an issue: after using WiFi for a few minutes, it stops working (it is connected but there is no internet). So I have to disable WiFi and enable it again to get it working for another few minutes. The problem is only in this device and the internet is fine. I have two WiFi networks in the home: my main router (Tenda), and a Mi extender. The issue is everywhere, switching the network doesn't fix it. [link] [comments] |
Xiaomi smart home system or Security system Posted: 04 Feb 2019 07:22 AM PST Hi, I'm thinking of buying a security system for our home. It has to be simple but effective. What I want: Loud alarm when a door or window opens Text message or notification when I'm not at home Easy arm - disarm I'm torn between 2 products. One is the Xiaomi Mijia smart home security kit or the Eminent EM8710. The Eminent is much more expensive than the Xiaomi kit but seems to be specifically designed for home security, while the Xiaomi is more of a smart home system. The Eminent is twice the price of the Xiaomi. Do any of you have any experience with the Xiaomi home security? As this is without a screen, can you only arm this with the app? Is it possible to link 2 smartphones to the system to arm/disarm? I'm thinking of buying this from Gearbest. Our power supply is different in Belgium. Will they ship with the correct power connector? What would you recommend? Thanks [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 01:35 AM PST I have a Mi Mix 2s on MIUI Global 10.2 and I have noticed that sometimes when I open the wifi from the notification drawer, the phone does not connect to my wifi router automatically as it should. Instead, I have to go to the wifi settings and this is when the wifi actually starts scanning the nearby networks and connects to my wifi router automatically. I know that a possible solution would be to change ROM but I prefer staying with MIUI. I would appreciate it if anyone could help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2019 08:38 PM PST Does anyone else own a pair of xiaomi 3.5mm noise cancelling earbuds? They're great and I love them but the wind noise is horrendous whether the ANC is turned on or off, which is really inconvenient as I like to skate to work. It's so bad that they're literally unusable in situations where there's any wind. Maybe a stretch but does anyone else own these and had this problem or know of a fix for this? [link] [comments] |

My Mi 8 is taking 33 Watts from the stock charger. Posted: 04 Feb 2019 08:29 AM PST So my Mi 8 is taking 33 Watts from the stock charger instead of the normal 18 Watts. Will this damage my battery?. I'm running HavocOS and SphinxKernel. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2019 09:51 AM PST Hello all, I have been using now for 3 months Mi 8 with Google Maps for car navigation and I have noticed that it's not very accurate. In lost of the cases while turn by turn navigation will change my position by a few meters, causing G Maps to recalculate my trip to a road that is parallel to the one I am. Most of the time it's not an issue if I know the areas I'm driving but it can be very confusing also. What is your experience? Doe's anyone is facing similar issues? Is there any remedy for that? Thank you [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 04:56 PM PST So I recently bought a mi mix 3 and have been using it on Verizon. (The global version has all compatible 4G bands, but no CDMA bands) something to do with this has prevented me from sending or receiving images in MMS. Does anyone have suggestions to solve this issue? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2019 01:00 PM PST For the some price (~350€) which one is better deal? Generally I don't mind the notch, it's just that Xiaomi's approach to notch is garbage. You can't see notifications, battery percentage, silent/vibration mode, alarm, etc. Plus on Mi 8 it's ugly as hell (personal opinion notch is just to wide that it has no point). But regardless of the notch, how's performance, camera, battery life, community for these devices? Any problems, hardware malfunctioning, etc? Maybe if there is someone who previously owned RN5 can tell me is it worth it to sell RN5 and give extra 200-250€ to switch to one of these? Or should I just go for LG G7 at that price? Best Xiaomi phone to buy for under $220? Posted: 04 Feb 2019 07:51 AM PST We're currently looking for a phone to get for my little sister that's in our budget. We want something that can perform good for when she plays games and browse online. Her current phone is just too damn slow. Is there something we can get that has good performance given our budget? Posted: 04 Feb 2019 10:28 AM PST I am planning to buy a new phone with a good camera for taking photos and recording videos and I wanted to know if the Mi 8 with Gcam is as good as the Pixel 3 camera or if it is better than the galaxy S9+. Thank you for reading! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2019 01:41 PM PST I've been really pleased by Xiaomi since they released a new update to the screen recorder allowing internal audio to be recorded. But there is an issue, when recording heavy apps like PUBG Mobile for example, the audio becomes distorted. This disables me and maybe other users to record gameplay. Is there any way to fix this issue? Btw, I use a Redmi Note 5. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2019 01:16 PM PST The February security patch just came out for Pixel users. In a few weeks Mi A2 users will get it. I won't download and install it right away until I read about any issues it might cause. What's everyone wanting the update to fix? Known problems such as: [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Feb 2019 01:12 PM PST Hello, I have few problems with my Xiaomi which I own for like.. 5-6 months. It's kinda laggy, also the camera is terrible (that's the biggest problem I guess), it's slow and doesn't work properly.. I tried to put the phone in factory settings (hope you know what I mean, my English is terrible) but that doesn't help as well. It's been like that almost from the beginning. Everything is just slow even though I'm trying to keep the phone clean etc.. do you have any suggestion what to do with it? I appreciate your help, thank you! [link] [comments] |
Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3" removed from Mi.com Posted: 04 Feb 2019 06:42 AM PST Hey guys, is this just random? Or why does Xiaomi doesn't list the Mi Air 13.3" on their Mainland China Mi.com page anymore. https://www.mi.com/p/2074.html When you are on the home page, choose Notebooks then their still is an entry for it. But after clicking it. It says "Item has been removed". Do you guys have any Infos on that? I wanted to buy the 2019 Air version, but there isn't any info about it yet. And this right now seems pretty weird. [link] [comments] |
