Subreddit New Rules + Banner Competition!

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 12:17 AM PST

    Hey r/samsung,

Over the past day we've made quite a few changes, that we believe, are for the better. As part of our on going effort to build the subreddit back up again, we have revised the rules and added new ones - which you can view below.

    ---------------------------------

    Banner Competition:

We are calling you, the community, to band together and work with us to make a new Subreddit banner that represents Samsung. Take inspiration from r/Apple, where they show an array of products in the Banner.

I tried making an interim banner on my phone (Yes, my phone) and whilst it's okay - it's still pretty awful. Here's a few guidelines to follow:

    • Features an array of Samsung products (Use r/Apple as an example), we'd like to focus on the present though. So it'd be great if you could include the new Samsung s10, Galaxy Buds etc.
    • Please make it good quality. It needs to look good so it can't be 240p.
    • Dimensions are: 4000x300

These are just guidelines, not hard rules. If you think you can do better without adhering to them, feel free, but we do request that you stick to those guidelines as much as possible.

    THE ONE HARD RULE:

The final image must be 4000x300 px.

    DEADLINE: Friday, 1st March 2019.

Post your entries (or your intent to enter) below.

Once the deadline has passed, we will collect the entries and post them in a new voting thread. With contest mode enabled. From there, you will be able to vote for your favorite banners. The Banners with the most votes will be used on our subreddit!

    ---------------------------------

    New Rules:

Rule 1: Posts must foster reasonable discussion

Your post must promote good discussion. Posts such as "I love X feature because it's easy to use!" and/or "What do you think of this?" are not allowed. Anti-Apple/Other company circlejerking posts such as "haha Apple is bad cuz they cost more $ stupid apple sheep" are not permitted either.

Youtube videos being posted are considered low effort, however this may be up to moderator's discretion.

Rule 2: No posts that aren't directly related to Samsung

All posts must be directly related to Samsung. We will remove posts that are only vaguely related to Samsung.

    Rule 3: No Self-Promotion

    Rule 4: No tech-support questions

This subreddit allows content that benefits the community over individual questions. As such, tech support threads and "What should i buy?" threads will be removed and users will be sent to the "Daily Tech Support Thread" that is posted everyday at 1:20am UTC.

Rule 5: No editorialized submission titles

When submitting, please keep the article's original title, even if it is misleading and/or clickbait.

    Rule 6: No buying/selling/trading

Rule 7: No photography type posts

Rule 8: No Offensive, Harassing or Inflammatory Language.

Be Civil, No rude, harassing or inflammatory comments. Follow reddit's rules of reddiquette.

    ---------------------------------

    New Auto-Moderator threads:

Daily Tech Support thread - This is a thread where users may post their tech-related questions, this is in an attempt to curb the number of tech questions being posted. Please help users out here, us mods would really appreciate it.

Wallpaper Tuesday - This is a thread where users may post their favorite wallpapers, and find some new ones - all in one place. Regular wallpaper posts outside of this thread will be removed.

"Shot on Samsung" Sunday - This is a thread where users may post their best images they took in one place. Regular photography posts outside of this thread will be removed.

Meme Monday - Now, This is controversial among users but this is an r/samsung subreddit - not r/memes. However, we are compromising by adding Meme Monday. This is a day where Users may post their memes without it being removed. Outside of Meme Monday, all meme-related posts will be removed.

Tips & Tricks thread - Not too much information on this currently. All i can share is that it will be run by u/Pottiland9 and it will be updated regularly with new tips etc.

    Samsung Has No Chill

    Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:04 PM PST

Just ordered an S10+, does Samsung's wireless charging pads still light up a dark room like the beacons of Gondor? If so, are there any alternatives that don't?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 04:05 AM PST

Why is the music program from Samsung not the only one adapted for dark UI?

    $50 off pre-order coupon code

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 05:55 AM PST

Hi All! I know a lot of people had issues with redeeming the $50 off accessories after reserving the phone. I woke up this morning to a coupon code for the discount.

It confused me at first because it's the same email format as the email you got when the "reservation" was ready, but now it has a discount code at the bottom. Just make sure to keep an eye out for it.

Disappointed in their teacher/student discount program

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 05:18 AM PST

I've been a fan of Samsung products ever since I got my first flat screen TV. I recently saw they have a teacher discount program. I was excited because I'll be looking to replace that TV soon and possibly get the Galaxy phone when my next upgrade is due.

Their criteria for qualifying is an email ending in .edu. the school I work at has our emails ending in .net. I emailed their support team and I got a generic response reiterating the criteria of a .edu. address.

I'll still probably buy their products. Just wish they had a more thorough system for this. I don't get too many discounts as a teacher, and this sounded nice.

Crossposting this as it might concern other devices than s8. Does anybody besides me experience this? Is it something that might get fixed?

A question to those who already have the s10

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 04:35 AM PST

Do you get used to the punch hole (on the s10 plus) and do you actively pay attention to it?

Pre ordered S10 came before release

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 02:05 AM PST

Not US. I ordered the Galaxy S10 and added a wireless charger and etc to the basket. I believe that is what caused this while shipping my available items they included the phone as well. So what happens if I start using it? Should I keep it hidden until the release? Thanks for your help.

Galaxy Buds pairable with multiple devices?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 02:01 AM PST

Basically title. Can you pair them with multiple devices? Say a phone and a laptop? Or do you have to reset the Bluetooth connection every time?
