Posted: 24 Feb 2019 12:47 PM PST Article 2: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/feb/23/facebook-app-data-leaks Article 3: Apps on iOS caught sharing sensitive health data with Facebook: https://www.engadget.com/2019/02/22/facebook-data-sharing-body-weight-period/ I don't know about you guys but sensitive health data is really where I draw the line and it's disgusting that Facebook has its hands in everything and even subpoenas and public shaming and court processes don't stop them. Remember folks the only way to prevent this kind of thing is to try to use as many open source apps as possible and wherever you can, use anonymous profile data. If at all possible, deleting Facebook is the best thing you can do to take back your privacy because it forces them to delete your data entirely after a certain period of time. FB might have a lot of data on you already, but that doesn't mean you have to keep giving it to them. Stay safe out there. [link] [comments] |

Tired of iPhone texts just for "Liking" or "Laughing" etc being sent to me Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:06 PM PST Let it come as no surprise to anyone here that I have an Android device. I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Most of my family has Apple. The new feature of liking and laughing at messages has come to serious annoyance for me. This especially the case when my trolly younger brother likes, then unlikes, then likes again, then unlikes again, and so on. I know that the stock message app has a method of blocking messages with certain phrases, but this is too large a net to cast. I don't want ALL messages containing the phrase "Liked" or "Removed a like" to be blocked. I only want messages that BEGIN with those phrases to be blocked. As far as I know, the stock message app doesn't have this feature. My phone is not rooted and frankly I am a little scared to try and root the phone even though I know this will take my phone to a whole new plane of existence. I would like to know if there are unobtrusive, non-root methods that exist that can solve this problem before I consider taking the rooting plunge. P.S. This wouldn't be a problem if Apple released iMessage to all markets, but business is business. [link] [comments] |
A app to use on a older TV as a remote Posted: 25 Feb 2019 11:39 AM PST Hi guys, I need some help, I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 933HD monitor and the buttons on it have stopped working. I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi S2 ( Has IR Blaster). I have used most if not all the remote apps from the PlayStore. The funny part is, my phone worked as a remote only once, I used an app called "TV (Samsung) Remote Control". It worked one time but after that it has never worked again so I can't change channels or switch up the volume on my monitor/TV. Any help on why would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
App to edit audio file tags/metadata? Posted: 25 Feb 2019 07:38 AM PST Looking for an app that can edit at least, mp3, wav and flac audio files so I can add track name, artist, artwork etc. Something similar to mp3tag for PC. I can edit mp3s in Shuttle+ but sometimes the app crashes after I hit 'save'. I'm unable to tag wav and flac files so my music library is very messy. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:41 AM PST I never had a cloud storage backup (since it's not encrypted). My phone was broken and I bought a new one (same model). I wanted to restore my backup from the local storage, but it seemed WhatsApp do not detect the backups. It always forces me to restore backups from cloud storage, which I do not have. I've copied my backups to WhatsApp/Databases/ , both in SD Card and internal storage. I've also made a copy of .crypt13, .crypt12, .crypt11, .crypt10, .crypt9, .crypt8 per suggestion in this link. But nothing works. My backup file is 60 MB since it's a data from 2014. Any help on how to restore from local storage? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Feb 2019 12:45 AM PST Hello i really enjoy those 30mins in the morning before the alarm, is there an app that let you set something like notification or mini alarm before the real one? 2 alarms is not the solution because i don't want to interact with my phone and dismiss the first one. Facebook has blocked my Google Play link Posted: 25 Feb 2019 02:30 AM PST I run a page for the Philippines: https://www.facebook.com/mitmessengerphilippines/ This is my link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kms.mitmessenger Yes, it's a messenger app but we are not directly competing with Facebook messenger - our target market is much smaller. (And there's lots more messenger type apps that have Facebook groups). What is strange is that our iPhone app link has not been blocked. The exact message given when I try Facebook's 'sharing debugger' is: "We can't review this website because the content doesn't meet our community standards." It's so vague. I don't know what standard it is not meeting. Would anyone know the reason why I might have been blocked? There's no adult content, no scams, etc. [link] [comments] |
