| Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:37 PM PST So yes I've searched online and all point to the same Microsoft guide of linking your account and then following troubleshooting steps. But before I upgraded, I completely forgot to make sure Windows would transfer correctly. As a result the Activation page in Settings just says it can't be activated, and there's no option to link an account. Following the troubleshooter, it seems to think I have no internet, when I clearly do. Unless that is the problem, I'm pretty lost. Do I have to reconnect my boot drive to my old hardware and link it there? Or is there still some workaround. It was a good amount of hassle to get the new system installed, so would rather not go through connecting power cables again if possible. For reference, I upgraded: Motherboard, CPU, RAM and GPU (but earlier than the rest, didn't cause a problem). I did not change any HDDs or SSDs (though I plan to install a new HDD soon). It has a Windows 7 Home Premium OA key sticker on the bottom. I have a replacement SSD from my spares pile. | A third-party app, not appearing on the screen, but in task manager and taskbar Posted: 06 Feb 2019 06:48 AM PST More specifically, I'm trying to open a program called Vortex, which is a mod manager for games like Skyrim, Fallout 4 etc. I don't think this is program specific, and rather something I can change with windows, because something like this has happened to me before. I know it's actually open, because I can see that it is focused on using my taskbar. I can see it in task manager, both in processes and details, and I can also see it in the section of the taskbar that shows background stuff like battery, wifi etc. I have already tried force quitting it with task manager, and all instances of it that I can see in details, and I have tried to restart my pc multiple times. I do not want to reinstall the program, because it would be quite the hassle if I have to reinstall all my mods again. Any help appreciated. [link] [comments]  | ||

Tried rapr.exe and device cleanup tool with no results. also tried all the other drivers for win10 but this is the only one where the installer doesnt give a "this driver is not for your system" error [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:21 PM PST So my laptop powers down the screen after some time. Usually it's fine. But every now and then, it goes standby and it doesn't power up when I press the keyboard. The only thing that works is holding down the power button and starting it again. First, I wonder if there is an alternative way because I don't want to lose my current session. Maybe a USB drive setup to auto run command that force end to standby? Thanks for reading. EDIT: it is an ASUS zenbook with 16GB ram and intel i7 7700. Running Windows 10 Home EDIT 2: Insight for what causes this problem would be interesting if anyone else experienced the same thing before. This is a laptop. I don't know how to reproduce this crash as it seems to be completely random and unrelated to what programs i'm using. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Trying to go from windows live mail to outlook Posted: 06 Feb 2019 03:25 PM PST Hello! I'll get right to the point I work for a small business and we have an email account with windows live mail. My boss has outlook on his computer and it shares the account so we can both see the same stuff as it comes in. I decided to update to outlook as well just so its updated. I opened outlook, manually entered my account info as it is an IMAP account, and began to export the email over. It ended up freezing halfway through exporting and now neither of us can access our email, it simply states that it cant connect to the server. How do I fix this? I've deleted everything from outlook now and am restoring the previous session on Live, but I would appreciate any help to get this back to normal!!! Thank you!! [link] [comments]  | ||

| I bought myself an ultrabook and need help with small lightweight progs Posted: 06 Feb 2019 02:46 PM PST Hi , i today bought myself a samsung galaxy book 10.6 , i wanted a drawing device with a good pen and i got it for 300 , thats a good deal imo .. but its obviously very weak .. im now going through all the tips n tricks and optimisation to get windows to run on small hardware .. but maybe you can help me with the most lightweight alternative progs ... especially browser , which one has a low memory footprint ? if you know other tricks for lightweigh or old hardware , please dont hesitate to post ohh yeah and normally i would like to install a clean intsall of an os myself , but that probably not possible on this thing ? I bought a laptop a couple of weeks ago bit I installed windows in spanish, because my main was in it too. I don't have a windows installation key yet (saving for it), and I wonder if by reinstalliing windows I can get it in english. I don't have anything important on it yet. When it happens, the cryptographic service uses about 20% to 30% CPU Usage. I just build the Pc and I did a clean install of Windows 10 pro. Does anyone know a solution to this? I have big trouble trying to sign in to my Microsoft account which apparently has been temporarily suspended. The message says Someone may have used your account lXXXXl@yahoo.pl to send out a lot of junk messages or done something else that violates the Microsoft Services Agreement. and asks me to provide my phone number so it can send a verification code. And that's where the problems start - whenever I try to get the code, an error occurs: Usage limit exceeded. Try again tomorrow The problem is, even without me trying to get the code during a 24-hour long period, it says I exceeded my usage limit. I tried using Microsoft Support, but the bot wasn't able to solve my problem, and when I completed the form and wanted to contact a person ( there was noone waiting in the chat), the site... wanted me to log in to my Microsoft Account - the same account that I can't login because it's blocked :( Any idea? | How to stop Windows from changing (ignoring) my Intel Graphics Control Settings? Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:26 AM PST Since the last big Windows 10 Update, Windows changes or ignores my Intel Graphics Control settings every time I restart the system. Particularly the settings for "IT-Content" are ignored. The settings being correct at "disabled", but Windows seems to ignore it, I have to go to the settings, activate it and disable it again. Not till then the setting IT-content is disabled. What causes this? How can I disable this override from Windows? And unfortunately I don't even know what else Windows ignores... | Windows 10 1809 desktop crashes after startup Posted: 05 Feb 2019 11:30 PM PST Hey folks, I'm in terrible situation right now because of major issue that prevents me from using my pc. I have done countless clean windows format and install but the problem just keep occurring. I have a custom PC with specs AMD Ryzen5 2400G, 2x 8GB corsair 2400MHZ vengeance lpx, aorus x470 Ultra gaming, aorus gtx 1060 6GB, and bunch of drives (ssds and hdds) what is happening is that whenever i start the pc, the welcome login screen takes ages to load and when desktop comes, it just freezes, only wallpaper and barely anything loads. And if i try to right click, open start menu, task manager or anything else, it crashes and reloads desktop but still nothing comes up, it takes around 5 to 10 min to properly load the desktop. This started happening more than a month ago. Not only this, but apps and games i use are highly unstable and keep crashing, sometime it gives error like exception not handled and sometimes it dies of BSOD. I have tried to reset the system atleast 5 times and yet this desktop issues keeps coming like a loop in september due to power fluctutions my motherboard and gpu (different one, i upgraded to another) got fried, i gave mb and gpu for rma and they replaced it, but this problem started occuring in around december Things i have tried 1) memtest (says ok) 2) chkdsk /f (says ok) 3) around 5 formats and clean installs yet this keep occuring 4) try with one ram stick (problem still occurs) 5) use different drive for windows (problem still occurs) im really helpless now and thinking of giving my pc for rma, but if any helps come from you guys it would be amazing!
