Android Launcher like Evie and Niagara?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 07:22 AM PST

I'm looking for a launcher that uses LIST VIEW like these two. I'm currently using Evie right now but my gripe is I can't add a free page in the home screen (it's always two). I wanted to check Niagara but the privacy policy kinda scares me. Thanks for the suggestions. Please suggest launchers that have an actual list view and compare with the two I mentioned.

Desperately need a full screen mirroring app for an old rooted ice cream sandwich 4.0.4

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 11:24 AM PST

Hey guys, I spent hours last night installing every damn apk I could find that ends in cast. Googlecast, chromecast, miracast, allcast, ihateeverythingcast...I really wanted to throw the tablet by time I was done.

The only one I could find that worked was allcast, but it doesn't do full mirroring, just casts individual files.

Could somebody please recommend or link my to an apk that will actually work? I'd pay for it even.

And in case you're wondering: I cannot replace/use a different tablet in this instance.

It is a 22" being built into a dartboard. Thanks!

[Meta] Is it just me or has the section "apps on sale" in Google Play has disappeared??

    Posted: 05 Feb 2019 04:59 PM PST

I've had the habit to always peek an eye and see if there was some good deals, or often some icon packs or apps going free. It seems like I have not seen it since a couple weeks

    Google Fit "can't verify account"

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:20 AM PST

I was trying to use Google Fit earlier yet now it claims it can't "verify account". I've uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared data from Google play services, restarted device. Etc. To no avail.

Is there any clear fixes or alternative apps (with WearOS support) you guys here can recommend?

Samsung Keyboard no longer auto corrects after installing Swiftkey

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 12:19 PM PST

I was using Samsung Keyboard, which was working perfectly, but I wanted to try out Swiftkey.

I downloaded it, decided I don't like it, and uninstalled. When I switched to Samsung Keyboard, it stopped auto correcting spelling mistakes, and it stopped capitalising letters ("i", or first letter of the sentence).

I tried Gboard to see if it's a Samsung Keyboard issue, but the same bug persists in Gboard, it does not auto-correct (it underlines misspelled words, but it does not auto-correct them, and it does not capitalise anything).

I've made sure it's turned on in settings. I tried reinstalling Swiftkey to see if it works, and it does. So I'm convinced Swiftkey did something that made other keyboards stop working. I have also tried Fleksy (just now) and it's working fine.

    Ideas?

GBoard Sync Issues - How to resolve two issues related to dictionary syncing

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 08:15 AM PST

I have long preferred SwiftKey over GBoard, but I have been testing Gboard again recently. Still prefer SwiftKey, but I found a great fix for an annoying issue -

I found a lot of issues with GBoard syncing on both Samsung phones and regular Android devices.

Samsung only: If you have a Samsung device, make sure you do not have GBoard installed in the "Secure Folder." It may be best to turn Secure Folder off entirely. There is a sync issue, especially if you're logged into the same Google account in both regular and Secure Folder areas.

Android of all types, including Pixel 1\2\3 and Samsung phones:

If you do NOT have an option to "Sync" in your Dictionary options for Gboard, follow these instructions below.

    A) Go to Play Store and GBoard, make sure you are not in the beta. Hit Leave Beta if you are.

    B) Go to the App settings and CLEAR DATA.

    C) Uninstall GBoard completely.

    D) Once uninstalled, install this old version of GBoard I am linking to.

    E) Install this old version and then check Settings to make sure Sync is in the Dictionary options.

    F) Change the "Languages" setting at the top of Settings to "English (US)" (or your primary language) and uncheck all others - if you have a "Use System Languages" option, uncheck it.

    D) Make sure Sync is still an option in Settings, go ahead and sync everything

    E) Close app, you can now update it to the latest version in Play Store and it should keep the Dictionary sync settings. Double check it to make sure.

LINK TO APK OF OLD VERSION:

Note for the Language step -- I do not know what other options \ languages work well, so please feel free to change anything above that works for you.

    Hope this helps people.

    EDIT:

If GBoard is a SYSTEM APP this works:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/7ybbj0/any_gboard_users_here_my_gboard_wont_sync/e1takt6/

This looks to be a bug however I have found a workaround.

    • Uninstall Gboard updates from app
    • Go to Gboard settings and enable dictionary sync (it should be available now)
    • Update Gboard from play store
    • Should now have the latest version with dictionary sync working

How to stop APKPure pornhub popups?

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 08:13 AM PST

I downloaded the APKPure app because Google Play blocks a lot of apps in my region. When I looked online everyone said the app was legit.

However, every other hour or so I get a popup notification about "XXX Sexy clips" from the APKPure app. Is this normal? How do I get it to stop?

[DEV] Ahaaa - notes at the right time

    Posted: 05 Feb 2019 04:21 PM PST

Hi people. I made little but useful application. It is primary for people who often call to somebody or for people who wants remind something before call.

Has it happened to you that you finished a call and realized, you forgot to discuss something with the person? So with this app you will not forget anymore. Simply write a note in Ahaaa for a specific contact, and the next time this contact calls you or you call to it, your note will appear on the screen. The application allows you to choose a color for your notes so you will not overlook them.

Other use case is if you have a lots of clients / customers, you can add some note to him and you immediately know who is who.

App is free and without ads. Please let me know if you like it.

Spell checker or no spell checker

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 03:19 AM PST

Just switched to simple keyboard and i came across this Post .

According to it, spell checker/auto correct technology affect mental ability of the user to spell correctly.

    Is this true?

Do you use simple keyboard due to the fear of losing your ability to proofread or spell correctly ?

Best battery monitor that is feature-filled and minimal resource footprint

    Posted: 05 Feb 2019 09:03 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

As the title says I'm looking to get a feature-packed battery app that is the least resource-intensive. Is it normal for a battery app to consume ~50mb of RAM in a 3 hour period.

Features would be: time-based or location based profiles, optimisation, cooling, etc.

    Thanks!

Looking for a notepad or note taking app with certain feature

    Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:33 AM PST

    Hi all!

I'm looking for a lightweight app, which can easily combine text and inline images. Please, don't suggest Evernote or Google Keep, that's not what I need right now.

I want use predefined sets of small images (think about small icons or custom emoji). Those images must be extremely easily accessible, I really don't want to browse through phone's filesystem every time I want to use them.

The app can be very simple, I don't need sharing those notes, advanced text formatting etc.

    Spotify vs Pandora

I have only ever subscribed to Spotify, but they just have been butchering their app in my opinion. I'm close to switching but would love to hear some redditors opinions on each app! Which app do you use and why do you prefer it over the other? Thank you.
