PSA: want to listen to YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc with your screen off? There's an app for that! Posted: 13 Feb 2019 08:25 AM PST I have been using the app Blackr for the past few months and it's been a godsend. It basically overlays a black screen over top of any app without pausing it, simulating a lock screen. If you're into always on displays it can show a clock too, if you want. Since it's pure black, if you have an OLED screen it turns the whole screen off, saving tons of battery. You can set it to double tap to dismiss it, so you can easily put your phone on your pocket without worrying about accidental inputs. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link it, but you can Google Blackr and click on the APKmirror link, which was the first result for me. Unfortunately it isn't on the play store. [link] [comments]
Huawei Mate 20(NOT pro) best phone I ever had(Mobile phone user since 2000) Posted: 13 Feb 2019 09:15 AM PST So I have been using mobile phones as far as I can remember, almost 2 decades now. I have had a phone from every single big brand over the years. In last 5 years I have had 4 iPhones and 4 android phones. I usually get a new flagship every 6-8 months.(Lumia 1520, iPhone 6, 6S, 8, S7 Edge, to name the few) I have had Samsung, LG, HTC, Microsoft Lumia and Apple in last 5 years. I have to say the iPhone 6 when it came was a phone I loved to death, would have been my best of all time if it wasn't for its horrible battery life. Just before Mate 20 I had iPhone 8 for around 8 months. Solid phone, no complaints besides mediocre battery and Apple limitations. Mate 20: - Solid screen, great brightness levels. - Great design, looks really nice and the tiny bezels make it looks so cool. - Cameras are awesome. Made my iPhone 8 look like a phone from 2010. The versatility and quality of the cameras is something I admire even 2 months after using it. - Sound is good, nothing great but good enough, stereo speakers are good and on par with many other flagships. - Wifi/4G/LTE reception/speed is epic. I get 2 extra bars in all areas where previously I couldn't get with my iPhone 8. - Software is good. Listen people say lots of crap about EMUI but honestly compared to my super smooth clean OS of iPhone 8 is not far behind. I seem to find everything easy and simple to achieve. It's even faster in every single task than my iPhone 8 which supposedly has an epic CPU/OS combination way ahead of android. - Having IR blaster and headphone jack and water resistance just made this my perfect phone in this weird time of being ok not having some of those basic features. - Last but not least the battery. My god. I get almost every day 8 FREAKING hours of screen on time while having 4G/LTE and wifi always on. Oh and fast charging is really good. Best battery I ever had on a phone since my Nokia 3310. I have yet to find a single major complaint from any aspect and After 2 months I can safely say this is the best phone I have ever had.(thought nothing would ever compare to that feeling of owning the legendary Nokia 6600 and iPhone 6 but Mate 20 just overpassed that feeling) [link] [comments]
Can we discuss the "Clear All" button placement in the latest Chrome update? Posted: 13 Feb 2019 05:26 PM PST Google released an update to Chrome and they put "Clear all tabs" button in the worst position one could pick... They placed it in the position where "New tab" button used to be, so what was used for new tab, now clears tabs. I've already accidentally cleared tabs and had to quickly info them enough times to prompt me to create this post. What were they thinking!? [link] [comments] |
