New to MIUI - it is infuriating

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 02:02 PM PST

Long story short I recently got a Poco F1. I like the hardware but I'm having some major issues with the software.

    1. Apps getting killed in the background. For example, I was at work today and I sent a Facebook message. I didn't have any signal at the time and on my previous phones I would just leave the message sending and it would get sent the next time I had signal. Instead the recipient didn't get the message until I opened the app when I got home 6 hours later.

    2. No notifications. This seems to be because of apps getting killed in the background. I missed the end of an eBay auction I had been following earlier because I didn't get notified.

    3. Notification icons disappearing. I've enabled "Show icons for incoming notifications" but they just disappear after a few seconds and it shows the clock.

    4. Notifications showing over other apps sometimes cannot be dismissed. For example, I had a Google notification bubble pop up showing me the live Arsenal-Cardiff score. You are meant to be able to drag them to the bottom to dismiss them but it wouldn't let me. Tried disabling notifications for the app but it just wouldn't go. Had to reboot the phone in the end.

I've tried turning off Restrictions under battery settings (it baffles me that this is still required) for the apps that I use the most but I still miss notifications. The apps still seem to get killed regardless.

Is there anything else I can do to help the situation? Strongly considering returning the phone at the moment.

Edit: 5. Forgot about this one. Reading Mode doesn't work. The toggle works in reverse for some reason. You toggle it off to turn it on. That aside whenever I watch a video it disables itself but doesn't re-enable after the video has finished.

Hello, how can I turn off an option that my phone turns off at some point at night to save energy?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 10:45 PM PST

I did that some time ago to save the battery but at night the phone flashes and sometimes gives sounds that it's about to turn off and it wakes me up. I can't find this option again! Help :(

Where can I get the piston v3?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 09:26 PM PST

I read somewhere that said the product is stopped. That was a really good pair of earphones. The new ones are trash, I've tried earphones pro and a few others, piston v3 was the best for me. So I wanted to buy another one since my old v3 isn't working on one side anymore.

Which Xiaomi product(s) are you using regularly?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:02 PM PST

I figure this might be an interesting post for both New comers and regulars here on r/Xiaomi

What Xiaomi products are you using/do you own?

Where did you source it from?

Where in the world are you located? (If a phone/applicable tablet - which carrier)

How has the experience been/would you recommend it to others?

I am now dailying the Mi A2 rockin, dual Sims (AT&T on Sim1 and Mint/TMO on Sims 2) to it's full potential and I love it! It's got considerably more storage than my Pixel 3, and that's good as I don't have full LTE bands, I've moved most of my song library onto the phone itself along with a few TV shows. This phone is a tremendous deal. I've got a Mi Pad 4 and this is basically a mini version of that. The Mi Pad 4 really came alive once I flashed HavocOS, it flies.

I sourced both from an eBay seller inside the United States, I am in the Midwest.

Well the experience has been awesome, I plan on replacing my newly received from a warranty claim Pixel 3 with a Mi Mix 3. I figure I've been fucked by Google on my 6P and now my Pixel 3 might as well try a different brand for a "flagship" phone.

I have been recommending the Mi Pad 4 to those who want a tablet and I will now be recommending the Mi A2 to people.

Voice Match can be enabled on Mi 8 (Pro) now. Not sure what changed, but the Google Voice match option stays on!

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:18 AM PST

    Found this out earlier.

Previously the option deselected itself. Something has changed and now you can unlock phone with Voice match etc.

Xiaomi Mi A2 or Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:08 PM PST

My Google Pixel is broken randomly and I need a temporary replacement, which one should I choose? Xiaomi Mi A2 or Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite?

If you have any other suggestions, do not hesitate to mentioned to me, thanks.

Mi Mix 3 or Note 9?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:07 PM PST

Loving the Mi Mix 3 and really want to get one but the one thing I would really like to see is a brighter screen. Mix 3 only goes to 600 nits so getting it seems to be a little bit of a downgrade in that department as I own a Huawei Mate 9 Pro and full but brightness is about 626. Also looking at the Note 9 because the screen can supposedly go up to over 1,000 nits full brightness.

    Advice?

Xiaomi Mi 8, Bluetooth headphones stutter?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 02:35 PM PST

I have recently bought a Xiaomi Mi 8 and I think it's a pretty good phone. (Despite its system that seems quite frustrating.) Yesterday, the headphones I bought last month started to stutter while I tried to listen to any source of audio. The problem seems to be with the phone's system as the headphones work fine and if I delete cache the situation improves for a bit, but I didn't change anything and am unable to identify what could cause this interference. Does anybody know what to do?

Mobile data won't connect on my Redmi 6 after MIUI 10.2.3.0 Update

Basically what the title says, it won't connect, tried resetting my SIM Access points, but nothing happened. Should also note that I've got enough data, so that's not the problem. Thanks in advance.

Battery temperature problem & The Only Real Solution

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:42 AM PST

Problem : Battery temperature too low TL;DR at the end This will keep your phone from charging and your battery will drain too fast. When you plug it in, your battery won't drain but won't charge either. This error pops up when your sensors are reading a temperature below 0 degrees Celsius. When I first got this message it was 40 degrees outside in summer, it was obvious that my battery was hot. I downloaded sensorlab to see what's up. My battery reading was -25.4 degrees and after a quick search I found out that minimum reading the sensor can get is -30. I popped the back cover open. I noticed that the battery isn't sitting where it's supposed to be, the adhesive wasn't holding the battery in place anymore. I was curious if the battery play had anything to do with sensor reading so I started moving the battery in the frame. When it was sitting on the top left, it had reasonable readings like 25 degrees. So I decided to keep the battery there, stabilized it with some silicon. Solved my problem for a few months. After a few months, the silicon broke and the battery started playing. The phone shutdown due to "low temperature". I stabilized it again and hoped for the best but battery reading was wrong again. I started inspecting the battery. The flex cable that connects the battery to the motherboard was cracked. That explained a lot. I discovered that there was little contact when this problem first started to occur and in time, crack got big enough to cut the whole contact. Mybattery life was still OK so I wanted to replace just the flex cable and I was also concerned about getting a knockoff battery but come on, who the hell would make fake batteries for a low end phone? Instead of taking the risk of replacing the flex cable I ordered a new battery with the cable. Replacing the battery solved my problem. TL;DR : If you get this error, stabilizing the battery position is a temporary solution to keep you up for a day or two but you'll have to replace the battery anyway.
