Would you recommend buying this laptop? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 03:10 AM PST I came across this laptop on eBay and comparing the listing price with the prices here in Turkey is a bit unfathomable! With similar specifications here, the price would be at least $1000, for a second-hand laptop, but this one is for only $153 AND FREE SHIPPING!!! So I was wondering if you'd recommend buying it. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Triple threat (unless i get more suggestions) Posted: 29 Jan 2019 01:11 AM PST I am currently deciding between Alienware 17 r5: 60hz gsync, i7 8750h, gtx 1060, 99whr battery. Sexy black chassis Razer blade 15: i7 8750h, gtx 1060 Max q, 60hz screen Asus zephyrus s: i7 8750h, gtx 1070 Max q, 144hz panel There are pros and cons to each. I like Alienware build quality. I feel like it also has the best display of the 3. The zephyrus has the best specs but the keyboard is a little iffy and lots of light bleed complaints. Razer has a nice look, size, but Max q is a downgrade from 1060. I was wondering if anyone knew which had better cooling/fan noise and more battery life comparisons and such. I want something that can handle games when I want to play like resi 2, csgo, rocket league, Witcher 3, but also want something that I can use for YouTube videos and movies without having to be plugged in. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
[USA] Anthropology/Computer Science Undergrad Laptop Posted: 28 Jan 2019 09:11 PM PST Hey, as the title says, I'm an undergrad working on an Anthropology major with a Computer Science minor. As such, I need something light, portable, and with a solid battery life for Anthropology, but also something powerful enough for some light, on the go coding (I have a desktop for more powerful programming).
Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jan 2019 03:01 AM PST Total budget and country of purchase: United Kingdom, £800-900 (can potentially go over though). Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Preferably best specifications. How important is weight and thinness to you? Not important really. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows; that's what I'm used to using and what all my clients use. Do you have a preferred screen size? Up for recommendations; even though a decent display would be good as I do a lot of photo editing and graphic design and will be using this laptop on a regular basis for work. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming List which programs/games you desire to run? It's for work. I will be mostly using Photoshop and Illustrator for graphic design and photo editing. Any specific requirements such as a good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Reliable build quality is what I'm looking for. I will be using a mouse so not too bothered on the touchpad as much. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm overwhelmed with the choice out there currently; one minute I'm looking at a £700 laptop and then £900 the next. If it can comfortably handle Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Word and a few Chrome tabs open at the same time that would be great! There doesn't seem to be an awful lot of difference between a £700 and £800 unit, £800 and £900 unit etc. so I'm finding myself slowly creeping up the specs, but then I'm not sure I'll ever even hit the laptop's capabilities so am I just throwing money away. Should I go for an Nvidia 1050, 1050ti or 1060 gfx card? i5 or i7 chipset? What laptop manufacturers are reliable, which ones should I stay clear from? Any recommendations and pointers would be great. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Im stuck with buying from one store Posted: 29 Jan 2019 02:20 AM PST As the title suggests I'm broke and there's an deal on that I can buy now pay later. I need a laptop from this store and I'm tied between a couple. my budget would be €700 I'm about to start up my freelancer career so I'm gonna be doing some light illustrator and film editing. Any suggestions ? [link] [comments] |
can i get something better instead of Asus Vivobook A442UR for its budget? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 01:56 AM PST i heard several great reviews about this laptop i just want to know if theres a better option, also for the fact that this model is like one year old i value build durability over specifications but i don't want shitty specs either [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:05 PM PST * **Total budget and country of purchase:** USA, $400-500 (can potentially go over) * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Preferably best specifications. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** I want a laptop with a screen that can take a hit or two. I think a light screen would worry me. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows all the way. * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 14-15, preferably. **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** I play some games. I don't need to play high-power triple A games, but it would be nice to run less intensive games. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** Something like A Hat in Time is about the level I want to play at. I don't need particularly high graphics and framerate, as long as it's not outright ugly I'm fine. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Again, I move my laptop around a lot and I'd like to not worry about the screen breaking or having to get a replacement or anything like that. A good touchpad is preferable. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I'm not the most computer literate person in the world, but hopefully there's a durable and cheap laptop with at least acceptable performance. Posted: 29 Jan 2019 01:49 AM PST Hi everyone! So, I'm currently studying programming, and for netbeans and such my old crappy laptop was barely enough, but now its crashing everytime I open Unity so I thought it may be about time, I gathered some money, got help from parents and finally on my way to find the perfect laptop for me. Have in mind it's going to be my gaming station, so I'm looking for something as high-end as possible, I wouldn't treat it as a programming laptop, more as a gaming one. Ok so, form: * **Total budget and country of purchase:** Flexible, but somewhere between 700-1k. Buying from Spain. * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Dont really care about battery life, it should have some but it's just gonna work as a pc that moves from home, college, gf's home. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** As long as I can carry it in my backpack it's fine :) * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** A pretty nice plus, but not my main focus * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Already stated that, basically gaming, Im gonna be programming things with it, hopefully games in a future, but mostly is for gaming, I'm a junkie for indie games but I want it to move new games, a 1060 may be hoping too much but 1050 Ti or smth like that would be cool too. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** I'm gonna be playing the batmans and Lara Crofts on it, also maybe I'll get Anthem, so yeah, if it can move those (not on Ultra ofc) I'm happy with it. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Please let it have more than 2 USB ports and HDMI, but thats a staple right? Also of course all good add-ons would be cool, but again, not the focus. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** Thanks for helping! I'm looking for a laptop for music production Posted: 29 Jan 2019 01:11 AM PST
I use Fl Studio with a lot of plugins and vsts, not interested in gaming or anything. My current laptop struggles with google chrome so it totally dies, lags and stutters when I attempt to make music that involves a lot of layers and plugins and so on. as far as I understand it needs a lot of cpu, but again, I know nothing of technology so that means jack to me, could anyone point me in the direction of what I should be looking for? Between these three, which would be the better buy? Posted: 28 Jan 2019 09:06 PM PST Looking for a good all around laptop for a couple things. Maybe a little gaming but mostly Web Development as I have my desktop for gaming. Just want a laptop where I basically have nothing but coding on it to not distract me. I had narrowed it down to three. All of them are $1099. The two that are listed as $1300 are $1099 at microcenter. * **Total budget and country of purchase:** 1100 US * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Best specs for the money is usually what I go for. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Not too important but I also don't want it to weigh as much as a desktop * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows 10 * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** A nice looking display that is at least 15 inches would be ideal. * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** A little gaming, mostly web development. Maybe some 3D modeling in blender but that's a big maybe. In fact, I may try to not install anything gaming related on the laptop just so I don't get distracted but the ability to do so would be a nice addition. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** Overwatch and Battlefield V are the two games I have been playing the most recently * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** A comfortable keyboard and additional input device options would be nice. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I have a desktop PC I mainly use to game. I have been trying to learn web development on and off for quite some time but think getting a laptop that I can use almost solely for web dev would be beneficial so I have set out to invest in one. I figured the three I saw at microcenter were pretty good deals but I am mainly a desktop guy and do not have much knowledge on laptops. So here I am. [link] [comments] |

[Thailand or nearby] looking for ultrabook with dedicated graphics $usd 600-800 Posted: 28 Jan 2019 10:25 PM PST preferrably if I can buy it on lazada in Thailand or go to low yat in kuala lumpur or somewhere in Singapore or Japan. Ideal target is 600$, but it's probably going to be more for an ultrabook of this quality. so, target is i7 with dedicated graphics for photoshop and minor video editing, mild 3d gaming too. min 8gb ram.

Fast laptop that can run intensive programs ~1500 Posted: 28 Jan 2019 06:32 PM PST * **Total budget and country of purchase:** 1500 - US * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Best specs for the money. I like the idea of 2 in 1s if they won't conflict with performance. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Not even a little bit. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Needs to be windows. * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** I want a big screen. 15 inch screen size is ideal. * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** I would like the ability to use CAD. That's the most intensive thing I'll need. Otherwise potential for games would be cool. * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** No clue! But I'd like to play RPGs like Witcher 3. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Good keyboard is incredibly important for me. I need it to be durable and can last 4-5 years. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I am biased against HP and pav, but if I'm ignorant let me know.
