What actually happens when you send a crash-report to microsoft? Posted: 02 Jan 2019 10:52 AM PST So when an application crashes - and you are prompted to send an error report to Microsoft. The database with application crashes must be huge considering how many PCs are running Windows. Does anyone here know more about those error reports - and where they end up and if anyone actually looks at them? [link] [comments]
[ Windows 10 ] BSOD is a common daily experience for me after I replaced a dead motherboard... How to get Windows 7 ISO file with an OEM license? Posted: 02 Jan 2019 02:41 PM PST Hi everyone, I'll keep this simple. I purchased an OEM Windows 7 Ultimate Key as I can not find a retail key online anywhere, at least not for a reasonable price. I would like to install a clean, unadultered, genuine copy of Windows 7. Microsoft apparently will not provide me with such an ISO, even though they can, no matter how many support people I speak with. So, where can I get a genuine, unadultered Windows 7 ISO from? I don't want to deal with torrents as they're highly untrustworthy nor do I want to deal with any other shady websites. Ideally, fingers crossed, someone here knows how to get past the "Retail Keys Only" screen on the Windows 7 Download page from Microsoft, or perhaps someone has a "just as good" solution? All I want to do is install Windows 7 on my 10 year old PC. Any help is appreciated! [link] [comments]

(Win 10 help) Eventviewer shows disk erros, but disk checking the disk comes back clean? Posted: 02 Jan 2019 07:14 PM PST I run a duel booted computer with windows on one HD, and Linux on the other. I recently had problems with my windows drive (BSOD, program missing errors, huge hang times when opening programs, program installation problems, boot crashes). I checked event viewer and saw a ton of I swapped out SATA cables, as well as updated my BIOS, and the problems remain. I ran both Has anyone had something similar happen? I can't remember if it happened after another forced update or not, but the problem is so bad, it makes the OS unusable. [link] [comments]

IM ABOUT TO PUNCH A FzajkING HOLE IN THIS LAPTOP PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY AUDIO DRIVERS Posted: 02 Jan 2019 06:36 PM PST I use a corsair headset. I know it works perfect because I have tested it on another computer. If I keep Realtek(R) as my audio driver, sound comes 80% out of the right and 20% on the left. If I roll it back, the sound is even, but there is incredibly loud popping sounds when no audio is playing. My headset mic has also stopped being detected, but I know it works on the other computer as well. Please guys, ive tried everything to no avail. I need help. [link] [comments]
Can only create new folders with third-party software Posted: 02 Jan 2019 06:12 PM PST For a few days now I no longer have a New > Create Folder when, say, right-clicking on the Desktop (or anywhere else). The New is there, but there is no Create Folder option. However, if I use xplorer2 or Explorer++ I can create new folders. Any idea what's going on and how to restore this functionality in the native Windows 7 (64-bit) File Explorer?? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
[Help] Can't open spesific folder photos, as all of them changed their size to 16.6GB Posted: 02 Jan 2019 02:20 PM PST Hey guys! Ok, so something really weird happened to me couple of days ago and I couldn't find any solution! So I transferred some files from my phone to the pc, and one folder, the DCIM, somehow changed photos size to 16.6gb each, and the whole folder weights about 64TB(!) and I only have 120gb ssd haha. Can someone help me? I can't open the photos. Tried transferring to another disk and windows really thinks its 16.6gb and takes a bit of a time to transfer but still can't open them (jpg files. I mean, supposed to haha). Thank you :) [link] [comments]
Windows apps crash is driving me crazy! Posted: 02 Jan 2019 05:37 PM PST I recently got this brand new MSI laptop, and everything works fine, except, LITERALLY every single windows app inside of it. (oh no I lied sudoku works, YAY SUDOKU!) I tried every single fix I could scour across the internet and not a single thing works! This is driving me nuts! I need to open some windows apps to configure some drivers, but I'm not able to do that with Windows store not opening! Please tell me someone found a fix for this, or has atleast any experience handling rogue windows like this [link] [comments]
Sharing folders betwenn PC and laptop. Posted: 02 Jan 2019 08:50 AM PST Hey! I've got 2 folders on my PC that I would like to have access to on my laptop. My PC is using ethernet cable. I have my laptop connected to my network everyday though I change WIFI when I'm at university. What's best way to share those folders? Program Compatibility Assistant Posted: 02 Jan 2019 01:26 PM PST I just purchased a Lenovo Flex 6 14inch and the battery life is pretty crummy (common problem). Looking at my CPU usage, Windows Program Compatibility Assistant is running at about 33%. Is it really harmful to disable this process and maybe make my laptop run a little smoother? I'm currently downloading league of legends which may be why its usage is so high, I don't really know. I'm kind of new to all this so any advice would be great. [link] [comments]

Restore folder to a previous version. Windows 7 Posted: 02 Jan 2019 03:40 PM PST Does anyone know how I can restore a folder to a previous version? I have gone through a process I followed from a YouTube video which takes me to an error message saying I do not have the correct permissions and I need to contact the administrators. It's a folder that contained some old photos I am keen to try and get back. Thanks in advance I am not very good with computers. [link] [comments]
Newbie question about mouse macros Posted: 02 Jan 2019 11:00 AM PST Hi all, I have an office job where I have to type about 10 different sentences over and over all day. Copying and pasting doesn't work because they're not all in order. It hit me recently that it might be possible to buy a multi-button mouse and assign the buttons to paste lines of text. I know this is possible in Word but I use several different programs. Is it possible to do this just in Windows in general? Thanks for any input! [link] [comments]
Wallpaper slideshow with dual-monitors Posted: 02 Jan 2019 02:41 PM PST I have a slideshow of about 200 wallpapers, but I only want it on my first monitor. I want a static image on my second monitor. I've been searching everywhere, how does a basic feature like this not exist? [link] [comments]
Windows update stuck on checking for updates Posted: 02 Jan 2019 05:26 AM PST My original problem is that I wanted to run MuseScore 3 on my PC, but couldn't as I got this error: The procedure entry point _seh_filter_dll could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles\MuseScore 3\bin\Qt5Sql.dll. After trying some troubleshooting I decided to see if there were any Windows Updates to do, so tried to run it. However it got stuck on Checking for Updates and never finished. While trying to troubleshoot that problem, I found this article which I followed, up until trying to reregister Windows Update. The Command Prompt gave me this error message after entering regsvr32.exe mshtml.dll: The module "mshtml.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "mshtml.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again. Basically it didn't work. So now I know Windows Update won't work but I have no idea how to fix it. I should probably also mention that I've had problems with Microsoft Visual C++ in the past and even after uninstalling and reinstalling it multiple times, some programs crash sometimes. Sorry for the long message, but this is really annoying and I haven't got a clue what to do to fix these problems. I like to think of myself as quite a technical person but this is beyond me. Stop Windows 10 reopening programs on boot Posted: 02 Jan 2019 01:15 PM PST I have an annoying issue at the moment whereby my Windows 10 machine reopens windows on a fresh boot that I previously had open. I often use the shutdown button as an easy way to close all unneeded windows as part of the shutdown process, so to have them all reopen again next time I turn on my computer is very annoying Has anybody got any ideas as to how to stop this? Windows NT in Program Files directory— what is this thing and why is it there? Posted: 02 Jan 2019 12:25 PM PST I googled "Windows NT", and according to Wikipedia, it is a family of operating systems. This is weird because I never tried to install any version of Windows NT on my laptop. I am running Windows 8.1. Does Windows 8.1 (Enterprise) need this folder to operate? A lot of the files in this folder have the extension .dll, which means they are system files. I refrain from opening/deleting/messing with such files. But I don't understand Windows NT's significance. [link] [comments]
Chromium OS to Windows 7? Laptop Posted: 02 Jan 2019 08:25 AM PST I have an Asus laptop that ran Windows 7 and was switched over to a Chromium OS before being given to me. I have the key to the Windows 7 Home Premium that came with the laptop. What do I need to do to put it back on my laptop? I hate the Chromium OS because I have to have a lot of different apps in order to use it without internet. [link] [comments] |
