- My second computer likes to remove the boot SSD from the BIOS completely after leaving it alone for a few hours
- When reopening podcasts, it loads up a podcast I was listening to days ago (10-20 podcasts ago).
- How do I decrease the size of my CV I created on Photoshop and saved as a PDF?
- Should I cancel or skip file that won’t copy over to external HD
- before I buy a new processor to fix this I want to make sure that is the right thing to do and I cant fix it any other way
Posted: 02 Jan 2019 10:17 AM PST Hi guys, hoping I can get some help here: Back in August I upgraded my PC to some higher end parts, and decided to make a small home server with the older parts I had lying around. I run a small 120GB SSD for Windows 10 boot and a 2TB WD hard drive for files and whatnot. I run Windows 10 Pro on it for the simple RDP, and it used to be working just fine. However, recently I have been having problems with it. I reinstalled windows about 5 times on it, and it keeps giving me the same problem: After I leave the server on its own for a while, it restarts by itself and then tries to boot from the HDD (which has no bootable media on it), and completely forgets about the SSD. I tried swapping the cables and ports on the mobo for the SSD, but this keeps happening. Windows works just fine, and I can even restart and do whatever I want, like run steam servers or plex no problem! It's just when I leave it alone for a while it poops its pants and forgets about the SSD. Should I run some tests on the SSD? I have an external enclosure I purchased in hopes to troubleshoot this (as well as other problems I've been having with hard drives), so that would make it easy. The parts are about 4 years old, and they weren't pushed too hard or anything, and weren't super cheap either. Any help is appreciated guys, I really dont know whats going on here. Some of the guys at the live chat tech support narrowed it down: dead SSD. Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
When reopening podcasts, it loads up a podcast I was listening to days ago (10-20 podcasts ago). Posted: 02 Jan 2019 12:17 PM PST I'll be listening to a podcast, pause it, then close the app. If I re-open podcasts within a few minutes, no problem. If I reopen it hours later, it is at the beginning of a podcast I was listening to several days ago. It does keep my queue normal though. But last time this happened, it eventually cleared my queue, which is VERY long, so I do not want this to happen again. Any help? Edit: Apple iPhone 8, stock app. [link] [comments] |
How do I decrease the size of my CV I created on Photoshop and saved as a PDF? Posted: 02 Jan 2019 03:00 AM PST I am using Windows 10 and Photoshop CC. I don't have Microsoft Office and I wanted my CV application to a tad more creative so I made it on Photoshop, but when I save it as a pdf file then most job-searching-websites won't allow me to upload the file because it is too big. Is there a way to decrease the size of the file or is there a way that I can upload the very same CV without having to save it as a pdf on Photoshop? Any help will be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Should I cancel or skip file that won’t copy over to external HD Posted: 01 Jan 2019 11:01 PM PST Hello, Every so often, I received an error message claiming that a file is too large for the new destination (even though I'm copying over files from a comparable external HD); it says, "destination path too long: the file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location that has a short er path." I am then given the option to "skip" or "cancel" and can apply the chosen method for all current items (i.e., "do this for all current items."). Is it better to choose "cancel" or "skip"? Also, what is the difference between both options? Lastly, should I choose the "do this for all current items" option as well? Thanks in advance for any assistance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2019 07:27 PM PST I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place for this so ive had this issue with my computer for a while it will shut itself off but all of the fans will spin at the same speed and the RGB wich runs off of my motherboard will stay lit, and the button on my case for changing the RGB collors will still work and the colors will cycle as normal. this will typically happen after about 3 hours under a light load or pretty quickly when launching certain games. after this happend I would check the event log and it gave me a critical error wich always ended up being a kernel power error (screenshot attached) since this is a pre built system it came with a warranty so i had them replace the power supply and they threw in a new video card just because they could and I eventually replaced the memory figuring the CPU would be the last thing to go bad and that didn't fix the issue either, so I downloaded AIDA64 so I could run a stress test on everything individuality. whenever I stress the CPU the nothing significant happens and the same goes for the HDDs, The GPU and the RAM but when I stress the FPU and the cache it gives me a hardware failure warning and if i stress both of them at the same time it crashes the system, so this is a processor issue right? (BTW its a Ryzen 5 1400) [link] [comments] |
