    Is Nox another broken app?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 10:19 AM PST

Guys I really love all sorts of android emu and Nox was best for me before the latest changes. Why do developers constantly try to slap in our faces? Instead of making their app better and better, they embed viruses and etc. I'd like to know your opinion…

Curated - I made an app for sharing and discovering great content

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 03:41 AM PST

    Hey all,

I'm part of a small 3-person team and we recently released our app Curated to the play store as an open beta. Curated is a place where you can easily save, share and discover great books 📚, podcasts 🎙, articles 📰 and videos ▶️. Think of any time you've given or received a recommendation about a book or podcast - our app takes that idea and gives it superpowers.

It's a place where you have your own profile of what media you've consumed. You can follow other users and through that get a feed of quality content recommended to you. Anything you're interested in but don't have time for goes into your saved list for later consumption.

Please let me know what you think. We're a small team and it's still early days & we have many plans for the app and any feedback is great.

Is there a browser I can minimize into a bubble like Facebook Messenger?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 05:57 PM PST

I'm looking for a browser I can pull up while playing games to look up information without having to switch into a different app, some games will lose connection if you leave them like that. I can always use Messenger without interrupting the games so a browser that works in the same way would be ideal. Thanks for any suggestions.

Can a dead app be resurrected? (Press Rss reader)

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 09:27 AM PST

Press RSS reader is no longer being updated, abandoned well over 2 years ago now. However it remains one of the best readers out there. I have been using it for over 3 years and it still is performs great. Recently l upgraded to a new device and I had to reinstall some applications, when I attempted to log into Press I got an error message and could not log in. I thought my Press app finally died. I attempted to check out several other feed readers out there, some highly rated, some new and promising, however none came close to the simplicity and elegance of Press.

So I am curious to know, since the devs essentially abandoned it. Can another dev take it over? Can we and ask if they can make it open source or something? What are the step reach out to original devs needed to make this happen? Is this even possible?

(FYI I am not sure how, but my Press app started working again)

Video editing app that cuts the frame instead of trimming it?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 03:49 AM PST

I might be typing the terminology wrong when searching - I recorded a dance video meant for a project but on the very side, the girl who was practicing next to me was also recorded and I want to cut her out of it. My search is only getting videos that make the video shorter or trim the video instead of cutting the frame

continuous on-the-fly speech to text app?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 09:38 AM PST

Hi there. I've recently started working with hard of hearing clients at work, and sometimes writing things down can help when they miss something I've said. As this is very slow and cumbersome, I want to use tech to solve this (it's 2018, come on now). I naturally turned to Android apps, assuming that there is a good solution for this in place already. While I rarely use google's built-in speech to text tools, I have done it on occasion and it seems to work fairly well these days.

The issue I'm having is that I cannot seem to find an app that will run continually, constantly listening to what multiple parties are saying, and turning it all into text on the screen on the fly. I'd like to be able to put the phone or tablet on the desk in view of both myself and the client, press one button, and then have it display everything we say on the screen, as we say it (with a minor delay of course). This way if the client misses what I say, they can look at the screen to verify. I can also look to see that what I am saying is correctly transcribed on screen. While this is the primary function I need, a saved transcript of the whole thing at the end would be a nice bonus. The ultimate would be if it could also distinguish between our voices and display it in a conversational format, and I could later add in the names of each speaker.

The closest I have found to this is google translate, but that app forces you to choose two different languages, whereas I just want it to use English only. You cannot ask google translate to translate from "English" to "English". And even if you could, it would not allow me to save the whole thing later, which would be nice.

Please help me find something that works redditors!

    Thanks a bundle!

PS. while I prefer Android, I also have access to an iphone if there is an iphone app solution. Yuck, I know, but I'll take what I can get.

    Google Keep crashing when synchronizing

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 09:16 AM PST

Since a few months ago, every time I make a change in google keep pc, sometimes it synchronizes well on the mobile. But other times when I start google keep and synchronize, directly closes.

Practically I have to erase data / uninstall daily... someone else has this error? only happens to me with google keep

My only temporary patch has been to use google keep through chrome web version. I have considered using other services such as evernote, but I have bad memories and google keep has no way to export the notes...

Camera app to isolate one colour

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 04:31 AM PST

Watching a review of the Motorola one I noticed that the camera app is able to isolate one colour by touching it and make the rest of the picture monochrome. The degree of isolation can be controlled by a simple slider. Does anybody know if there's a camera app that does this at the point of taking the picture rather than editing the picture afterwards?

I have just found out about yalp store. And i have been wanting to buy a china-only released phone but it doesn't allow google play store to be installed via apk. Actually it installs but doesn't work.

What other apps do i need to use other than yalp store if i really want to go ahead and buy that phone?

How about retrieving contacts and other info from my google account? What other things should i be concerned about or would have to compromise?

Or apps that require google login like PUBG?

Please tell me everything i need to know and do.

    Thanks.

    About GEO apps

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 06:35 AM PST

Using of maps and geo location in mobile applications has some tricks and complexity. To create robust working application with geo features the following skills are strongly required:

    1. Good knowledge of Google API's and Google Play Services, at least, Google Maps API is a must.

Google Maps API is a core of almost any geolocation mobile application. It provides a huge variety of tools to work with mapping. But this is very dynamic service that changes very often adding new features. To be successful with Google Maps API a developer must know as general principals of this service as some hidden tricks and novelties. Such experience allows not only to solve main apps tasks but to do it with maximum effectiveness and minimum code to use. There are a lot of standard Google Maps API functions that can substitute hundred lines of code.

    1. Mathematical cartography knowledge that also requires geometry, trigonometry and higher mathematics.

To implement using of some complicated customized objects, layers or overlapping on a map, a developer has to master mathematics (Fisherman Navigator is a sample of Google Maps and customized map using). Mathematic and algorithms knowledges are also required to realize a user route tracking. An application must understand what a user actual location is, which part of route was passed and what user actions are required (Fisherman Navigator has a voice feature to follow a user by off-road route).

    1. Experience to use devise physical memory and to work with big sized image files.

Variety of image objects overlapping on a map (markers, path trace and so on) requires RAM resources. It will cause of device slowdown and insufficient battery discharge rate. To avoid such situations, it is required to strictly manage using of image files particularly big sized ones. It could be done, for example, using light image marks for zooming view and to remove from map screen and RAM unactual traces and signs.

Using of raster images also requires some specific knowledge, such as correct image tiling, stretching, shrinking, deformation and others just using dynamic code. To do it in right manner mathematical cartography is a must. Such experience allows to work with variety of mapping projections and to transform them in actual views.

    1. GPS advanced features.

To be more precise a geo application ought to use not only Google Maps coordinates. It strongly advised to use satellite-based navigation systems like GPS. Then knowledge to work with satellite positioning and its signals system are also required.

    Mass synchronization of Files

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 05:55 AM PST

    Hi all,

I used FolderSync Pro to synchronize files between a server and around 100 Samsung Note 4. Sadly we run into small problems all the time (files not up to date, upload not working etc...)

Do you have a good idea for a good file synchronization app which can do the following:

    • download files from.a server
    • keep the folder structure
    • retry if download did not work
    • upload files to a server

The idea is to serve PDF Forms as templates to my users, which they can then fill out and send the filled out forms back to me. But I need to know the file they filled out and which user did it. Maybe there already exists a solution for this? The process for this has to be automated, so the users don't have to hassle with the synch...

As said, my idea was to use a file synch app and a pdf forms app. but it seems my solution is a little bit too buggy for my client.

thanks for any ideas! much appreciated!
