(request/recommendations) non p2w but competitive games

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:36 PM PST

I'm a big fan of competition, Clash royale, civilization games, fps, anything. I'd love something that doesn't involve staying in a game for over 5-10 minutes, so I could still play at work. I don't mind IAP as long as they don't affect game progression and are purely for cosmetic. I'll take any and all recommendations, thanks!

[DEV] [Self-Promotion] Curious Markings – Schizophrenic Hallucinations

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 11:49 AM PST

This is a cross-post from my comment in the /r/iosgaming self-promotion thread. I thought I'd let all you Android people know about me, too!

    The game: Curious Markings

Soft release: May 1st, 2018. I didn't start advertising the game until Friday, Nov. 30th, 2018 (coinciding with the Android release on Nov. 30 and the iOS update making the game substantially better)

Genre: Adventure (Not sure this title fits, but it's as close as I could find that the App store would give me an option)

I am the developer of the game: Yes. I did 100% of the iOS version and the back-end systems, and my buddy Thomas did 99.99% of the Android.

Platform: Android/iPhone – The translations component of the game can be played for free through the website.

Price in USD: $3.99 ($4.99 in Canada, where I'm located).

    In-App purchases: No.

    In-App advertising: No.

    Notes:

Hi, I'm Ian. I am a diagnosed schizophrenic. Curious Markings are hallucinations from my schizophrenia. Almost a year ago, I began documenting these hallucinations and attempting to translate them. My world is rather curious, and this app is my attempt at making your world a little curious, too. The game plays a bit like Pokemon Go. Travel to locations and collect the markings. No markings nearby? No worries! You can create new marking locations around where you live for other people to discover. You can collect your first marking without owning the game by following this link:

    https://curiousmarkings.com/collect/0160a94

This game needs more markings to be fun for other people. Right now I am having a little promotion to get people like you to plant more locations. If you place enough locations, I will create a custom marking based on your profile picture and add it to the game. You will have this marking specially placed on your profile, and I will mail you the original of the marking drawn on paper using archival ink. It comes in a handcrafted letter with a beautiful wax seal. Learn more about it here:

    https://curiousmarkings.com/custom_marking_promotion

Sorry, that's probably information overload, but this project is a place for me to be as crazy as I like and it's acceptable. I hope you like it.

What are some games that are rated below average but are actually decent?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 12:24 PM PST

Anytime I see a game that is rated below 4 I usually avoid it. Not the best strategy I'll admit it. The game could look pretty interesting but then I see it's rated say a 3.7 and I immediately get dissuaded. Obviously there could be a number a reasons for it's rating. Are there any games out there that are rated poorly but are actually pretty good?

I'm looking for a mobile advisor for my network.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:46 PM PST

Heyo, I'm sorry if I'm breaking any rules in the subreddit by posting this, but I reviewed the rules and I feel like I'm still in the lines. Anyway.

I run a network which has an official website, and Discord. We've been trying to expand outside of just the PC market into consoles and now hopefully mobile. I'm mainly looking for someone who has their hand in a bunch of mobile multiplayer games and would like to run guilds, clans, groups, ect under our name. We will provide forums, custom art, and whatever you need to make your group feel like home.

I really want to find a group of mobile and console gamers that focus on group activities and communication, because for what it seems gaming isn't going in that direction and I'd like to bring this back.

There are a few requirements but we can discuss that on Discord. If you're interested please dm me on here and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. If anyone would like the link to my network please also send me a dm or if I get approval from the subreddit staff I'll edit it in the post. But I'd like to avoid advertising until then. Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and let me know what you think.

Which one of these three controllers should I get?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 02:34 PM PST

    Hey guys!

I'm going to have my birthday soon and I'm getting a controller to emulate games during my vacations. I'm ready to play SNES, NDS, N64 and PSX games, though I only have budget for one of these three controllers.

I've tried to place the pros and cons that I have in my mind for each controller after reading this subreddit wiki and looking at youtube videos for like 2 weeks regarding the quality of the D-PADS and the controller in general.

Have in mind that I have a Moto E4 Plus.

    Thank you very much.

    [REQUEST] Story-driven games

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 08:46 AM PST

I'm looking for story-driven games. Mostly looking for visual novel-style games or gamebooks, but I'll play everything has a well written story. I don't mind if they are free or not, I'm willing to play on emulators too.

Already played/in my backlog: all the ace attorney, the telltale ones, TWEWY, To the moon, life is strange, professor Layton, ghost trick phantom detective (NDS), 999 (NDS), Ever17 (PSP), corpse party (PSP).

Also looking for good JRPG, loved chrono trigger.

    Thanks everyone!

World of Prandis - MMORPG similar to WoW

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:15 AM PST

I just started this game yesterday after playing for a day last month. I'm enjoying it a lot. It reminds me of WoW. It is open world, you have a free mount to start that unlocks flying at 30 for free and is easy to control, you run to progressive quest givers and complete 3-4 quests in that area and then go to the next questgiver who is labeled on the mini map. There are instanced dungeons and world bosses. There are 2 factions (male and female) that PvP against each other, although being so new I'm not familiar with it. There are 3 unique classes to each factions. I haven't encountered any glitches or lag and I'm level 41 atm.

I learned from a player today that it is mostly Korean and pinoy players, although there is alot of English speaking players. The game also seems to lack resources available on the web for guides and builds t general forum talk. People chat on facebook but the reddit isn't active much. I didn't find a forum on a website for it (albeit I didn't investigate too much because I've been playing.)

I'm just wondering why more people aren't playing the game? I havent gotten to end-game to see if it's p2w or what, but seems to be a legit WoW-like mobile game. It's controls and gameplay will keep me playing until a newer game like Black Desert and Diablo are available.

If anyone has any insight on the game / has played / is playing. Ign is Kolden on male faction

tl:dr - I just started World of Prandis and it seems like WoW and has easy controls for mobile but is not very popular with English players. I'm in east coast USA.

Edit: Bonus points for no auto play other than fishing

How's gaming on the Snapdragon 660?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:37 AM PST

My phone is great but I'm looking to find a device to give it a break while at home and keep games mostly on a tablet.

I recently picked up an iPad 2017 decided I liked the performance but a few games I frequent don't have cross progression with Android. I'd like to able to play on my phone or tablet. I am trying to keep costs under $200 with some leeway. The Mi Pad 4 is around this price and has a lot of good features, unlockable bootloader, type c, 4gb of RAM but I am curious about the snapdragon 660? From what I've seen on youtube it runs things well enough but I'd like some more user input.

[REQUEST] Simple, semi casual online games to play with a friend

    Posted: 03 Dec 2018 07:49 AM PST

    • Preferably can be played with only 2 people, maybe me vs her or co-op with her.
    • No over the top action games like moba because shes terrible at those so just semi casual games.
    • Preferably can be played while not needing us both to be online at the same time because we have real life too, so board games could work beautifully here.
    • Not huge game by size because shes only got super limited data to download it, plus a low end device, so around 200mb would be hitting the max already.
    • Prefer free games because she probably doesn't even got a way to bought premium games.
    • Cross platform with ios would be a huge plus.

Tic Tactics came to my mind and fits perfectly with what I'm looking for but sadly its discontinued :( so any recommendation? Thanks!
