For Safe Hands-free driving, telling Google Assistant "play my playlist" fails Posted: 31 Dec 2018 02:51 PM PST What words should I use to tell Google Assistant to play a particular playlist on YouTube Music (my default music service for google assistant). I have list of 5 things that I need Google Assistant to do, but when it comes to music, I'm stuck figuring out what it wants to hear. edit: Funny enough, when I say that "play [anything]" it only plays 'Lil Wayne - I am not a human being'. I thumbed down the song, and that's all it plays. No joke. Google Assistant, I'm ok with you not being a human being, it's why you're special, I see you as 'More Human than Human', that's why I call you Betty. [link] [comments] |

Browser full screen video problems Posted: 31 Dec 2018 09:18 PM PST Does anyone have any idea why my videos will not stay full screen. They either minimize to the corner or pop out of full screen to the player in the browser. It's doing it in a few different browsers. Chrome mostly. It's really getting annoying. [link] [comments] |

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7, provider Verizon. I am VERY technologically illiterate. This is an explain it like I'm five question. If it is even possible to download the font I haven't gotten that far. App to remote control my mom's phone Posted: 31 Dec 2018 04:47 AM PST Hey r/Androidquestions! So my brother and I got my mom her first smartphone. Since she's in her mid 60s she isn't really into it and we both are going to be abroad for a while, but I thought about setting her phone up so I can remote control it (install updates and apps). She only needs it to video chat and send some pictures some times. Is there an app or something that lets me fully remote control it and where I have her display 1:1 on my laptop? VNC requires me to set up my router with port forwarding etc. and I don't really wanna get too deep into it. Is TeamViewer safe? I've read about some hacks because of weak passwords (no worries I'm gonna choose that ;)) Google Family doesn't let me fully remote control the phone, right? [link] [comments] |
[Tincore Keymapper] Mapping does not work - cursor visible instead Posted: 31 Dec 2018 11:33 AM PST I'm trying to create a mapping for Gamesir G4 in Galaxy On Fire 2. Android 7.1.2, rooted. The controller is detected correctly in Tincore Keymapper, a mapping looks fine (even detects movements of joysticks in Tincore): https://i.imgur.com/VlPoIPE.jpg However after applying the settings and getting back to the game, moving joystick causes mouse cursor to appear (???) and gamepad behaves like the profile was never applied. In Tincore everything looks fine. Any ideas what's wrong? [link] [comments] |
Stock firmware for Samsung Galaxy s7 G930V VRU4CRE5 Oreo 8.0 Posted: 31 Dec 2018 11:31 AM PST I rooted my S7 a while back and now have screwed something up on it. It keeps saying IMS service has stopped...every 2 seconds no matter what I try. If you have suggestions to stop that, that's great! But for now I'm looking for the stock firmware for my device to fix the problem and cannot find it anywhere. Any help is appreciated thank you! Also I realize I'm not an expert, so if any other stock firmware will also work (idk if that's possible?) please let me know. Thanks! SOLUTION EDIT: I used h ttps://gizrom.com/galaxy-s7-sm-g930v-android-7-0/ and it worked for me! Thank you to all who replied and helped me with this. [link] [comments] |
Does turning off window animations in dev controls actually help performance? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 03:12 PM PST I set all of my settings to off in that area (i believe there are 4). However, while it may feel snappy, it also feels ugly because everything just pops up now instead of smoothly opening up and so on. Does doing this actually save CPU load? Or this is 100% fully cosmetic? I really do wanna know if this tells the phone "do not render these things" and therefore it save processing power, or if it's just "render it, but show nothing" kind of thing. [link] [comments] |
Gmail app archives on swipe, but is set to delete Posted: 31 Dec 2018 06:34 PM PST New to Android... Love it so far but minor issue with Gmail. I have default action set to delete but it still archives on swipe. I've tried clearing cache but that didn't help. It doesn't appear that I can uninstall and reinstall. Any ideas on how to fix? How do I stop a game from constantly asking to sign into Google Play? T-Mobile S9+, Android 8.0.0 Posted: 31 Dec 2018 06:14 PM PST I enjoy playing games on my phone, but I have no desire to link them to my Google account. Privacy concerns, I suppose. One game in particular constantly asks to sign into an account on Google, and even though I hit deny every time, it still shows up every time I start the app. Can I stop it from asking every time? Can I change the default file format for the camera to be PNG instead of JPG? Posted: 31 Dec 2018 07:52 AM PST I've looked, but I can't find it. I have an Essential Phone, and the default app has no such option menu. The Google Camera app has a hamburger menu, but the only thing related to the format is JPG quality. The reason I ask is that recently I needed to supply pictures of a receipt and faulty redemption code to a company, and their email system won't allow more than a total of 5 MB of attachments. The unaltered pictures were 3 MB each. And GMail didn't offer me the option to resize the pictures. I tried a few different methods to convert to PNG, but they each resulted in a BIGGER file (12 MB) for each picture. I ended up loading up GIMP and exporting as PNG, which dropped the file sizes to just over a meg each. I know on the iPhone I use for work, you get 3 options for pictures when you attach them, either full size, or 2 other reduced sizes. Why doesn't Android have this? I'm technically savvy, but this was a pain in the ass and took me a while to get it done. I can't imagine my mother or anyone else who isn't technical being able to figure it out. [link] [comments] |
Photo Backup Scheme - Samsung Galaxy S8 and Windows 10 PC Posted: 31 Dec 2018 09:35 AM PST Hi all, If this isn't the correct sub, please point me in the right direction. I am setting up my backup scheme on my computer, but need to address the only content I really care about on my phone: my pictures (if my texts and phone call records could be backed up too, that'd be swell, but I don't care about them nearly as much). I have an Amazon Drive subscription for 100GB. I may have more than 100GB worth of photos, but a lot of those are duplicates, screenshots, random pictures I scribble on, one-off pictures of a meme I send and don't need again, etc. I would like a seamless way to have the pictures on my phone backed up to my Windows 10 PC. From there, I can handle the backup to my NAS, Amazon Drive account, External HDD, etc. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S8, and currently relying on Amazon Photos app for backup. This works, but does not seem to detect pictures as soon as they are taken. I don't know what criteria it uses, but it only seems to check for pictures at a pre-determined time, and I can't set this. For example, if I take several pictures, they won't upload to Amazon very quickly -- I have to open the Photos app and only then does it refresh and begin the upload process. It does upload, but it takes several hours - the whole situation I'm trying to avoid is if I lose my phone, I want all the pictures I've taken up to that point to be uploaded. I have unlimited data, so I'm not concerned about only WiFi uploads. Previously, when using Google Drive, the uploads would happen What suggestions might you have for my problem? Thanks in advance.
